  1. I don't see what the ass hat's issue is, it's not like Breedts is a high speed road. It's a frikking mountain(ish) pass on a district road, that everyone from cyclists, drivers and motorbikers use. I do hope it's been reported? More of an issue are the geniuses who take their normal little saloon cars up there, or attempt to, like the one series beemer a few weeks back.
  2. That's the thing, the stuff ups started in Rosebank because of motorists ignoring marshals and officials. After that happened 2 or 3 times there was no option but to suspend the stage. As far as some of the negative comments about Soweto, they were far more well behaved there than some of our more 'affluent' areas. Even at Dobson Market which was a stuff up with traffic, there was no incidents like other areas. Also, if some people bother to read or inform themselves, you'll note that in one of IanJ's posts he mentions that some of the most responsive cycle clubs were from the Soweto area.
  3. I was present and there was no "mumbling" as Epoh said, Barry Mocke has a valid point, making a personal attack on him is hardly a constructive approach either. Between the three of them they admitted that it was perhaps too ambitious a route for the first Tour. There are some valid criticisms surrounding the PR and marketing, which most likely needs to be more mainstream in the run up to the event. Although there were ads on 702, The Star etc .... The actions of some Joburgers though were not caused by this, it definitely highlights the problems, but there is no excuse for some of the conduct from today.
  4. That was me, my bike rider didn't notice but as we went past motorists on Witkoppen one hacked at spitball at me, a few seconds after a loud "**** YOU" from another and a guy who played chicken with us. Later I saw one guy try to intimidate a marshall by driving straight at him, nearly knocking him down. No argument made here or anywhere else justifies those actions, eff all! It's an absolutely disgusting display from people! These weren't taxi drivers either, but people in rather affluent cars. The officials, marshals, CSA, SAPS and JMPD on the ground worked themselves to bone! Why is it the stage from Pretoria to Monte was such a success and people were well behaved overall? No doubt there are a number issues to be dealt with, but at the end of the day the absolutely foul behavior of a few is what caused this. I say a few, because there many people stopped in their cars and bystanders who were really enthused at the fact there was an international tour with 14 odd nations taking part. Theres still 6 days to go yet and some spectacular racing across the country, which I'm sure will be met with enthuasim and success, that's my feeling. I refuse to let today's pigs put a damper on the occasion!
  5. They are, Tread reviewed the alloy model recently and the carbon one is currently on test. Alloy one scored extremely well at just under 20k for a full X7 groupset and ZTR wheelset weighing in at approx 11.2kg. Bike rides like a dream, was difficult to find fault with it. http://www.bikerumor.com/2011/02/14/momsen-bikes-unveils-19lb-full-carbon-sl929-29er-mountain-bike/
  6. I see Crimeline has been urging for stronger action as well. https://www.crimeline.co.za/feedback/mountain.asp
  7. Could do Babbas on a Cyclocross bike
  8. North Face and First Ascent make some decent hydration alternatives
  9. Wouldn't you be better of sourcing these through an agency? Shall pm you some contact details.
  10. Stop talking, stop typing, take your hands away from your keyboard and slowly but firmly close them round your throat. Keep squeezing, eventually you should feel nothing.
  11. Cool man, not for me to tell you how to approach this. Just giving my viewpoint, which I genuinely hope is constructive, even though my approach would be different. Whatever the case, I do hope you guys get things sorted. Shall see you at the Tour then, beers on you
  12. As long as I don't receive electric shocks via my keyboard! All I can say is "yathis"
  13. No, but it covers expenses stipulated, losing a job is not a week's vacation, it's a weeks loss of income. Still I don't think it wouldn't do to speculate on the specifics. as we don't know the full story either. Which speaking for myself, I'm fine with because this is something that should really be taken offline and discussed privately between the two parties.
  14. You're everywhere!
  15. But is it art?
  16. Works out unprofessional for sure. Same as the Volcan thread a few weeks ago, best thing is to can this thread. If admin or mods are reading?
  17. Having experienced very much the same thing myself a couple of times with varying clients as well, I can fully understand your frustration. It's an abuse and exploitation that happens all too frequently in our field unfortunately. Still, this really isn't the best approach. I sit with SAFREA, if you want, PM me. Hopefully I'll be able to put you in touch with the right folk to help you solve this constructively or advise therof. It's a great resource of different media professionals and a wealth of experience. A public slanging match more often than not never results favorably for either party. Not quite, it's still an incurred expense, wether the aircraft has been boarded or not. This is why many people set a kill fee as well though.

  19. It's a stupid move that caught on somehow. Barely have enough energy to draw my water bottle out like a normal person at the best of times.
  20. You normally apply lube 'to' the exposure, not "at" .....
  21. There's good and bad in this, more good though I feel. As much as it can be said that dishonest people try their luck, the same can be said for consumers being ripped.
  22. Bike, car and camera gear! Out of bounds! .... The woman, well if your's is hotter, then tit for tat! Gotta make up for OCD somewhere
  23. I saw an oke tapping his closed with a rubber mallet once.....Politely pointed out that it wasn't quite the right way to do it, got told in an extremely curt tone "Not to worry, I'm technically minded" ... Don't know how technically minded he was, but I reckon he at least qualified as a numbnut!
  24. Softys! Norm and I braved the elements and won the day!
  25. A better way to protest rather than not going out to vote is to spoil your ballot paper.
