  1. 29ers are flavour of the month and with all the hype the sales are spiking around that, so 26ers aren't pushed as much. Evetually it'll all level out though. No doubt there are merits to the bigger wheel size and with newer models the geometry is adapting. Seriously doubt that 26ers will die though, it comes down to a number of factors, or combination thereof. Trail conditions and what people are comfortable with. It's about the riding, don't let the tech obsession take over the reason for why you ride.
  2. Was going to suggest a combo of carwash shampoo and mr min, but after checking the links Martin posted... wow!
  3. Really hey
  4. How is a stupid thing to say, unless you were the person who fell? He had a head injury, which he believes his helmet saved him.
  5. Cheers man, mad props for that blazer! Kept trying to get a shot with that pocket! You didn't by chance race in the old 'Expert' cat on a Produx, years ago?
  6. Speaking to guys from other countries we do seem to generally have well organised events with top logistics. One thing though is that there doesn't seem to be a clear guideline as to what are the requirements for a 'sanctioned' event and how these are enforced. Also guys, remember that while many people can have the luxury of planning a month ahead for a race entry, some folk work on call or have the kind of jobs that don't have a set schedule. By all means, have a late entry but keep it reasonable and not penalise people for it. There should always be an estimation of late or on the day entrys, especially with organisers and events that have been running for a number of years.
  7. http://galloimages.co.za/Search?q=Intergalactic+Single+Speed+Champs&a=2%2C3%2C95163&st=2&dr=0 Should work now?
  8. Heres some more, apologies Iron if you don't mind? Don't want to create duplicate threads of the same thing. http://galloimages.c...95163&st=2&dr=0 Shall upload to FB as well and make it an open gallery, feel free to tag yourselves.
  9. As well. RIP
  10. Good on you bud! What's the prognosis for your wing there, how long before you can flap away again?
  11. Yaw, and use them jagwire cables. Bloody nice them things!
  12. Got pricing on them at a couple of LBSs, it's sort of a special order thing but at between R180 to R200 odd I decided to skip out and just use black insulation tape.
  13. Hard to say, I'd be comfortable with both. Although my bias would be towards the gripshifts. If you're concerned about hands slipping. Put 2 or 3 tie wraps around the shifter covers or a layer of bar tape. I know of one dude who used grip tape like on the skate boards. Try someone's bike who has gripshifts though, see how you feel/adapt, welcome to try mine in fact. Shifters aren't in the best of nick though When it comes to triggers, as much as I prefer using SRAM I really do like the Shiman triggers as the top trigger can be used with either the thumb or forefinger. Just a neat versatile detail that I like.
  14. Down to a personal preference as well, especially since it's a contact point on the bike. I realise thats probably too objective for some folk though, so, my personal preference for them is down to reliability being a large factor. They really are bomb proof and work well, can get a bit slippery but generally only in the muddiest of conditions and/or worn grip covers. I heart grip shifts!
  15. Faaaaaak, mate I was just thinking the exact same thing, and I was there just this week in the arvie! Jeez man! Bizarre, been in conflict areas, riots and what not, and now I have to be on guard while doing the one thing that clears the mind. FFS Hydro, any idea where abouts on Krugersdorp Hill? Keep us posted on Alec's recovery, good on him for giving that savage **** something to think about. Posted this on the Crimeline FB page, hopefully it'll be passed around. At the very least, some more awareness. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Crime-Line/123311467697540
  16. Both hearts in fact
  17. Ride a stage first All this ragging on roadies, they are odd granted, but I'd rather bite it on my MTB than on a road bike any day.
  18. Well, given the Eskom increases, this little gem still irks me posted before I know ..... http://miriammannak.wordpress.com/2011/03/28/eskom-loans-and-price-increases/
  19. Ya man, but you're not supposed to wear a swimming cap on your bike!
  20. In Jhb, Complete Cyclist, Mikes Bikes, Cycle Lab, Linden Cycles.
  21. See, now here's the conundrum. Going on my experience on just the four shops mentioned. Cajees Boksburg, have had both good and bad service. CycleLab Boksburg, only good service thus far. Johnsons Edenvale, only mid to poor service. Tour de Frans Benoni, have had both good and bad service. No doubt others will have had differing experiences on varying levels, doesn't make any of them particularly bad outlets though.
  22. Sure the Due South shops have? ... Theres an outdoor place in Claremont that has a whole bunch. I'd reckon that the WC has more buffs than toilet rolls!
  23. No, different housing design, the screen layout is different as well and functions are in different areas. If thats grounds for a claim, then the same applies to motoring GPS units like Tom Tom and the rest. Tenuous at best.
