  1. The keyword was generally in the range of, and there's a post on this very thread that uses a calculator from a cycle finance site. Pointing out a simple fact isn't "hate" not sure how you read into that. Take a breath.
  2. Never alluded that you were. Simply provided some fact for perspective in an open public discussion. Don't get so emotional
  3. The title heading and post seem a bit ambiguous? Like also requesting hubbers to assist you on financing? Your post needs a bit more detail on what you're looking for. As far as financing providers go there are a few and pretty much all of them are on offer at bike shops. Typically you're looking at Wesbank/FNB, Yonda etc At the end of the day their rates and terms are much of a muchness, interest is generally in the range of 20% Plenty good advice in the thread as well, among the Rich Dad Poor Dad discussion.
  4. Not unique to Shimano though. Everyone is on the back foot of the supply chain. Some may be hiding it better than others though. Plus there's the issue with shipping containers sitting idle, in all the wrong locations. Ie, destination point for market and not at manufacturing source.
  5. Decathlon, cheap as chips.
  6. 100% assumptions among all that hyperbole. Take a breath.
  7. On flyer, your transmission?
  8. Straight up. They're ****.
  9. Enduro, Pyga/Deed, Ryder. Been happy with those, especially the Enduro.
  10. Decathlon do a decent trail lid at a more than decent price. Not the lightest, but plenty good enough. Unfortunately also only one colour available. https://www.decathlon.co.za/p/8529387_mountain-bike-helmet-st-500-red.html
  11. Graeme Kidson, Carbon Ninja on Instagram. He's performed a few repairs. Maybe he can asses and let you know.
  12. Fabians Bike Transport have started doing full bike wraps as well, seen some impressive stuff. https://m.facebook.com/Bicyclewraps/?_ft_=mf_story_key.3810419308979913%3Atop_level_post_id.3810419308979913%3Atl_objid.3810419308979913%3Acontent_owner_id_new.100000356433532%3Aoriginal_content_id.115520043864829%3Aoriginal_content_owner_id.103384211745079%3Athrowback_story_fbid.3810419308979913%3Apage_id.103384211745079%3Astory_location.4%3Aattached_story_attachment_style.photo%3Atds_flgs.3%3Aott.AX8lkx0mctIPiqL7%3Athid.100000356433532%3A306061129499414%3A2%3A1609488000%3A1641023999%3A-3062194941387027328&__tn__=CH-R&_rdr
  13. https://cyclingtips.com/2021/04/bay-area-cyclists-on-edge-after-spate-of-armed-bikejackings/ "Concern is growing in the cycling community in Berkeley, California after multiple bikejackings in recent weeks. At least five riders have been confronted since late March, with each theft sharing a similar methodology. The victims are typically approached when riding alone, forced off the road by at least one vehicle, and then have their bicycle stolen at gunpoint or knifepoint."
  14. Correct, it is covered in both hearings. In the case of a medical IV drip administered by a medical professional in an event though, there is provision to apply for a retrospective TUE as theres a demonstrable medical need. Think what's more telling is the doctor's description of events, copping to the confusion/distracted and not being able to provide required documents because of a dispute with the medical services provider.
  15. Coming back to this since Legs4HillsWhereItsFlat couldn't be bothered to answer. I remembered someone discussing that this specific case actually was reduced, because lo and behold. A SAIDS panel upheld his appeal. Of course it didn't help that by this time he'd been tarred and feathered and CSA hadn't communicated this detail after the fact either at the time. Sporting code bodies are always notified. I emailed SAIDS querying wether or not there was an update, they confirmed the same day along with all the documentation that there was. Sanction was reduced from 18 months to 6 months. The site has also been updated to reflect this, according to SAIDS there was a database migration approx 2 years ago and some updated cases don't show up. But all info is recorded and backed up in anycase, so if there is a query the front end on the site is updated. Makes for sombre reading: https://drugfreesport.org.za/cases/?athlete_name=tyrone+white Initial hearing: https://drugfreesport.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/SAIDS-vs-Tyronne-White.pdf Appeal: https://drugfreesport.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Tyronne-White-vs-SAIDS-Appeal-Decision.pdf
  16. Yip .... the full original Q&A - http://www.treadmtb.co.za/10-burning-questions-with-max-knox/
  17. See the topic has come up on the SanParks FB page. Same spot? https://m.facebook.com/groups/7915287987/permalink/10158936690037988/?anchor_composer=false
  18. Hold up chap. I see you're based in KZN, but other than that why would you single out Tyronne White as a "perfect example" ? His case is actually a perfect example of muddied waters, raising as many questions as answers. And unfortunately no hearing document available for download, that should be a red flag, if he appealed and there was a reduction in the sanction. How would we know? I recall the event and CSA at the time remaining very quiet. Perhaps you can fill us in? https://drugfreesport.org.za/cases/?athlete_name=Tyrone+White http://www.treadmtb.co.za/saids-csa-issue-anti-doping-sanction-to-mountain-biker-tyronne-white/ https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10154026305021561&id=629451560&anchor_composer=false
  19. For sure, I mean things like Salazaar and Icarus bring that home. Personally I don't think things like blanket bans are really effective in the mid to long term, sure they appease an emotive vibe for a while. But that's it, they need to evolve outside of that. Many events, teams and sponsors do take a stance and even have certain conditions written into their terms and contracts. Community will always carry through, for the most part most probably don't even care for the politics and enjoy their riding regardless. What I'll never subscribe to however is a mob effect and approach. I'm as frustrated as the next person, I'm also acutely aware of how some rise up in a sense of false morality and seem to be driven by public revenge porn. I often wonder, are they actually driven by a sense of justice and concern, or do they enjoy the drama around the scandal. We see these on both sides when the headlines come out, and they enjoy too much attention because they shout the loudest.
  20. Not all that long ago Craven Week returned something like 16/26 doping positives, and there was the expose on Carte Blanche with a supplier of PEDs to parents, teachers/coaches and students alike. So the culture of doping is rooted way deeper as a problem than lifetime bans and the like. I know one thing though, if I had kids and found out there were any adults/guardians involved with pushing PEDs. There would be more than hell to pay.
  21. Makes me a sad panda ... Love their range. SA is an over saturated market with bike brands though. Still, do believe there could have been a gap for a well supported and properly marketed brand like Orbea though, even with a tight range of product. Difficult margins to manage though, which for the brand owners might not be viable enough to warrant the effort.
  22. 15k a test, good luck with that. Most licenced riders don't earn any income at all.
