  1. Last night a bunch of drunk people threw firecrackers out of their car at people in the street. It missed, luckily, and the cops were sent to their location soon after. You get stupid bastards...
  2. This. I had a blocked ear some years ago, was so bad I was completely deaf in it for a day. Balance was down the river with that one.
  3. You can try Velo's B-group rides? They start from the Engen at Atterbury/Hans Strijdom on Saturday mornings (see the website for times). http://www.velo.co.za
  4. And then by the time you've done paying, the bike you're getting is not worth the price you paid.
  5. +1. Guy in our club went down Eeufees at 107 just because he weighed 110 at that time. Compare this to the average descent speed on that downhill of 80-85.
  6. Or we should visit his shop in mass and ask if he has any of those clamps for us.
  7. Our club's Vet team bike My personal favourite is still the Bianchi Oltre, but this will do just fine thanks
  8. Yes it does look weird when someone sells something for less than half the price than the distributor.
  9. Because the first time I fell off my bike, I just short of fractured my skull. Helmet was wrecked. That's why.
  10. +1. If the CSA won't take it seriously enough, let the race organizers do it from their side.
  11. I know of a lot of riders that do stuff like the Epic, etc, and get sponsored (where sponsors shell out up to R500k a year), but while riding for enjoyment and not necessarily for prize money (although this would be a bonus). At the same time, when you register with CSA, you agree to be held to that standard.
  12. Saw that on CycleNation's blog now now. Also saw that the Cape Epic will be imposing a GTFO if you've been caught previously.
  13. I've got one of those old black and blue bike racks (the bent bar with the blue frame mounts), which is a 2-bike rack. Never had any issues with it being a tight fit hey. At the end of the day you're going to strap it tightly anyways as to not let your bike get dinged when it moves forward and backwards.
  14. If you go take a look at West Africa.... the kingdoms there used to sell their enemies to the Portuguese during the slave trade times. So it's not even only white people that have oppressed black people. But yes, definitely an idiot. Cycling in SA is still predominantly white. It's changing, but it takes time.
  15. It's better, yes. I had one bug where I first grabbed the bdx to my computer and then uploaded it.... and on Bryton it showed my trip as 0.00km. Played around a bit and it got sorted thereafter. Edit: Maybe the devs can add a remember-me feature? It's very very very very very annoying to have to login (and type from scratch) my login details each time.

    A Sub 3 Argus?

The group plays a massive role in it. You'd be hard pressed to average 37 on that route on your own.

    A Sub 3 Argus?

My first sub3 was in the pouring rain (group D as mentioned before).
  18. At the shop? Eish
  19. Are you referring to the North-South tracks that run from Donkerhoek to Germiston? I ride those on my own, Haven't seen anyone dodgy-looking thereabouts yet.
  20. I looked at it via Google maps, and checked the gpx routes I have. Don't have anything east of Rayton on the tracks, but there is an access road all the way to Bronkies. Not sure how safe it is though (at least on your own). Closer to Mamelodi, no idea. Wouldn't go there myself. The section going east from Mamelodi, I wouldn't go further west than "S25 43.877 E28 29.534" (where the R515 crosses the railroad). About 1km west of that waypont you start seeing shacks.
  21. Perhaps we should make a plan? I'm *cough* on leave *cough* until mid January
  22. Been riding at 2.0 on Conti MK's tubeless front and rear, thinking of dropping to 1.8 or so. Ride's way too bouncy still. Technical descents are downright scary.
  23. I just usually have a bomb+ valve on my roadbike and a pump with my mtb, and a spare tube.
