  1. is there any way to enter this from within kistenbosch gardens?
  2. Anyone interested in going from Southern Suburbs (Rondebosch/Newlands) to Cape Town (Sea Point or City) on any weekday evenings leaving around 5.30pm? Or going the reverse in the mornings leaving around 6am? Happy to do mtb or road but preference would prob be mtb to stay off the roads as it's all in the dark at the moment...
  3. good luck sunday everyone... i'll be starting in 3d and trying to jump up a group or two to mates ahead of me, although the wind might say otherwise. out of curiosity, anyone know what group a F seeded PPA rider would start?
  4. Has anyone got discovery points from zwift rides? I've manually uploaded the fit file into connect but it doesn't seem to get the points (despite wearing a hrm). I guess i could wear my watch and record a separate activity for discovery but would have thought the zwift rides counted...
  5. So where is the statement being made at 4pm?
  6. i'm lazy but you can create on https://www.strava.com/routes
  7. I can only give good feedback on revolution cycles... Which is strange because i own no specialized bikes. Stirling junior helped me get a niner frame i wanted for a fairly competitive price. And then as i was building up the bike, one of the mechanics there has always been helpful when i have went in to learn how to do something. Helpful as in stopped what he was doing and shown me what to do and for free because i had bought the frame there. And they weren't always quick tasks, one of them was helping me to cut the fork and install the headset so i appreciated his help along the way. I also think the new store looks good. Full of specialized gear and a decent amount of parts in stock for when you need something. Price wise, they may not be the cheapest vs online but i think they are there or there abouts compared to the other lbs i use and i'm happy to pay slightly more for service and being able to walk in and get what i want if i need it urgently, rather than saving 5-10% and waiting to have it shipped from overseas. I might also be wrong here but i think specialized has a linked system between all its shops in south africa, so if you are after something and the shop doesn't have it it can see whats in stock around the country and get it in for you. Again i could be wrong here but if its true i think that's great from specialized and I wish some other big brands like trek would offer the same. Nothing worse than wanting something and then having to import it because no one locally can tell you if its available or not
  8. first time posting... and i assume we are only interested in cycling TSS TSS 733 IF 0.86 A lot of DC training in that, so i feel like my weekly number will be a lot less normally after the race. But seems a lot of guys are doing this week in week out
  9. I would love to see a poll of how many owners actually record in 4k and use it. Surely most people would be happy with 1080p and would prefer upgrades in battery life/image quality Compared to these new prices... for R999 that sony as15 camera i picked up was a steal.
  10. Super impressive... Congrats to the team!
  11. as someone who is building a road / cx bike... buying a road groupset with disc brakes is currently a pain. i'm sure it will become easier as more options become available to the market and demand increases, but right now its not easy
  12. thanks gerald for organising! it was an honour to wear the yellow jersey early on... but i'll have to do some off season analysis to see where it all went wrong
  13. i got mine at chainreaction (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/deda-elementi-crononero-low-rider-tri-bar/rp-prod121029)
  14. No question... Di2. I'm not worried at all by rain and the battery lasts forever but most importantly you get quick perfect shifts every time. I think the battery lasts 2000km and every time you go to ride you just half press a shifter and you can see how much battery is left on the indicator. If its getting low, just remember to charge it after the ride. Or the next ride. Or the ride after that... If someone runs out of battery in a race they can only blame themselves. I have Di2 on 2 of my bikes and haven't had any issues over the last couple of years. I even upgraded the 10sp on one bike to 11sp myself. Simple to install and setup / maintain / upgrade with the free software (as long as you get the internal battery and usb charger to plug into the PC). There's also a couple of good sites online to help you if you want to do it yourself. If something were to go wrong i'm confident enough to be able to buy the spare part/cable and replace. It's literally plug and play. CWC had a special on the ultegra groupset not that long ago but otherwise i've found parts and cables on overseas sites for a big big discount over local shops if you dont mind waiting for delivery. I've got a couple of spare parts that i could sell if anyone was interested (10sp rear derailleur, external battery, charger, a couple and cables and a junction box).
  15. a frame for my fixie build... http://8bar-bikes.com/assets/8bar-KRZBERG-v4_polished-raw_fixie-fixed-gear-8bar-bikes-singlespeed.jpg

  17. Hi everybody I'm looking to lengthen my commute some days from Sea Point to the city and go on the mtb via table mountain. Ideally i'm thinking of cycling thru clifton to camps bay and then climbing up to signal hill/lions head via kloof (unless there is an offroad trail?) and then up to table mountain to do part of the goat and entering the city via vredehoek. On the way home i was hoping to do the reverse with perhaps a way down into sea point thru a trail on lions head. Although i cant find this on any of the maps just the bo kaap trails. I can't make the newbie rides on the tablemountainbikers website so i was hoping to get some advice here. Firstly is it relatively safe? I'll be riding between 6am-7am / 6pm-7pm when its currently dark. I have a light but i'm more concerned about crime. I know there is always a risk but am what i doing high risk or medium/low risk as there'll be others on the route at this time. Does anyone else do this or a similar commute that i can join? Secondly i'm happy to get a permit. Seems to be a debatable issue on here and i'm guessing sanparks wont be policing at these times (or else i wouldn't have to worry about crime) but i'm happy to get one. I'm assuming its just a lvl 3 activity card? Lastly any tips about learning which way to go or anything i've missed? I was planning on doing a dry run this sunday mid morning with a printed map to find my way. thanks
  18. anyone heard any more info about whether the swim will be on... or if it will turn into a biathlon? or when we'll find out for sure?
  19. check out Huub... have been very happy with mine
  20. Anyone done this recently? I only found some old threads but looks like options (to avoid duties) are: - take old bike out of the country and declare (perhaps buy bike overseas first to have same serial number?), dump when get overseas and then bring new bike in - bring bike in, don't declare and if it get questioned say i'm here for a race and taking out afterwards - break bike down and only bring back frame and groupset, then ship wheels Whats the latest ideas and what has/hasn't worked? cheers
  21. Thanks will give them a call!
  22. Hzt PE hubbers I'm going to be in PE for a week or so at christmas and am hoping for some good suggestions for where is safe and best to ride. I'm looking to do rides of around 100-120kms a couple of times while i am there, mostly in the early mornings or late afternoons. Any tips which way to go or areas to avoid? Also to save flying with my bike, does anyone know a shop that lends out either road or tri bikes? thanks
  23. did you have any luck with this? i'm looking to buy di2 tt shifters for some aero bars and to install the firmware will need to be upgraded
  24. hows the build going? anyone know where you can get cruisers in SA? old or new...
  25. didn't read the posts after the first one cause i'm feeling lazy... but i can not agree more. Garmin service has been fantastic for me. I've had 3 issues with a forerunner and each time they have checked it out and replaced it and even with another model after the 3rd time. Brillant service, will only buy garmin in the future...
