  1. Hairy, I submitted the claim through my LBS but then got a call within hours from the local agent saying that they had received the claim and outlined the process from there. They (Andrea) kept me in the loop daily as to the progress of the claim and within 8 days of the initial claim the replacement frame landed from the States in Cape Town. Bike is being built NOW! Huge improvement from the previous agents...my faith in Trek has been restored.
  2. That it is Mayhem! The 2013 version.
  3. Just got this. Hope it lasts longer than the previous one.
  4. Jeez, now that is impressive! Good luck and enjoy your project. Looking forward to the progress photo's.
  5. Fuel ex 9 on it's way! Can't wait...
  6. Yup, I use the one on the left, works like a charm!
  7. I ride a MTB hardtail. Gives me options to bail onto the pavement or verge/gutter to avoid traffic, potholes, buses etc. Also the big tires are more puncture/pothole/pavement resistant than skinny road tires.
  8. Yip, that sometimes does happen - unavoidable when you're pushing the limits.... As they say "If you're not fallin, you're not learnin"
  9. What about the dudes at the crisalis academy....
  10. Aaahh! The sound of your ski carving the curtain on glassy water. Geez, I've got to get back to the dam, when is it holiday again?
  11. I'm in, may be a little late ( fetching son from cricket), but will be there as close to 1pm as possible - with a helping pair of junior hands.
  12. Very nice! I'll be cycling from the southern suburbs towards Simon's Town on my usual Thursday commute but I don't suppose there'll be any free coffee along the way
  13. Yup! That's the guy I was telling you about that I've just booked our bikes with for Sani!
  14. Ha, nice try - but you don't count. Like they say in the small print " friends and family cannot enter"
  15. Sorry for the hijack, but found a pair of glasses in Tokai this morning ( 7 October). If you lost them and can describe them to me, we can arrange to get them back to you.
  16. I see your point! Maybe the R200 odd will be worth the risk if they are so adamant that it will fit. Better than the R1000 to machine one...
  17. Oops, battling to add the pic - please hold... Try this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Patte-derailleur-wheelsmfg-111-BH-SARACEN-/330547898876#ht_1028wt_732
  18. There's a guy who rides past my house everyday on one of these - very cool. Not sure it's the best option for long rides (or if there are any serious hills involved) but for a neighbourhood runaround - perfect!
  19. Please keep us posted Pain, this news makes me sick!
  20. Starting in Bergvliet, Cape Town, I follow the Main road to Simon's Town. 22km gets me there in the mornings. I take a slightly longer route getting home in the afternoons, normally around 30 - 35km.
  21. Glad this annoyance had a happy ending. Kudo's to you for keeping your cool tho' with the ranger who realized that there was a clerical error on your card but would not back down on his insistence that you pay.
  22. Yip, gold for Zanardi!
  23. I waited almost 5 months for my Trek warrantee rocker link. The local agent let me and my LBS down big time, so needless to say neither of us was very happy. Hopefully the new agency offers better service. ( not that I'm keen to find out )
