  1. My Oscar is in for a service. Wouldn't heat up. The seal has been leaking for a while and I have had the machine for two years so in it went for a total service. R3750 with labour. Ouch. Anyway I am supposed to get it back tomorrow. I have been using the aero press. It's OK but it's not the same. That's a bit of a worry! I have my eye on an Oscar but a R3.7k service on an (approx) R12k machine after only two years does not sound good!!
  2. What else is there to do in Komatipoort?????
  3. +1, you don't want the adjustment lever pushing on the frame.
  4. Be careful, they have everything and you'll want to buy it!!!
  5. Think of slime as the 'Antimatter' of your wheel, weightless and suspended in the middle by equal pressure on all sides. As soon as something disrupts this fine balance the slime will touch the tube with devastating effect and an almighty explosion will follow. At which point you wont give a cr@p about rolling mass........ ... Not really but it would be cool..........
  6. You may as well replace both bearings while you're at it.......
  7. This method works fine. The only problem I have with it is you have to be careful putting the tyre back on if you want to clean the tyre out or top up the slime. It can be tricky to keep a 'lip' sticking out between the rim and the tyre when you fit the tyre.
  8. Yes, very easy. Wait until the end of the ride and they have a table with all the stuff for swapping. I have swapped at least one item for my wife for the past three yrs.
  9. Time to put my bike back together. A wee tweek turned into a full service, at least I know it'll be good to go come Wed morning!!!!
  10. Send them an email and reschedule to later, they go on until about 9pm.
  11. Yep, it's all been very quiet this year. Maybe just too busy with J2C????
  12. Any sneak previews yet of this year's goodie bag / box?
  13. If there's pain - see a physio. Bio will strengthen and rebuild once injury is sorted.
  14. Popcorn anyone???? Or should we rather try getting back to helping the OP with his dilemma??
  15. You've done 2 already so there's half the battle won. Now just make sure you don't over train and go in with an injury!!!! Slow and steady.
  16. I have photochromatic Oakley Flakjacket's and love them. Use them for all sport and just general outdoor use.
  17. Hi Rich Just saw your thread now, great cause and achievement, R226 on it's way. Well done!!
  18. Go to the kit table at the end of the race and you can swap just about any size out, mens and ladies. Don't take it with you on the ride, hardly any kit is swapped along the route.
  19. Any training ride up to 3 hrs is water only with a banana or energy bar along the way. Race day is a neutral taste energy drink. Always start training or race with a bowl of porrdige or pronutro though.
  20. I took my Scott Spark 940 headset apart for a clean for the first time this weekend and discovered the lower headset bearings are 'open' similar to these. Do you know if it's possible to replace them with the sealed cartridge type?? cartridge bearing.bmp
  21. Thumbs up to a speedy recovery and a calm quick thinking young lady. Glad to see you still got your coffee in after your ride, neck brace and all!!!!
