Race ended for me at just over 90 km mark, One moment I was cruising downhill on tired legs. The next I was in an ambulance , I apparently hit a waterbottle,I have no recollection of the crash.Landed on my face unconsious, Scans, stitches one night in hospital. Lucky nothing broken no damage to the grey matter .Helmet and front shifters scrapped. Thanks to Kevin who helped me ,saw that my bike was ok etc etc.Even went to medic tent to look for me. I really appreciate it. I now owe somebody the same. Edit: Forgot to mention ER 24. Werner and ............ Maureen? Thank you.

No run ,no swim. Edit : Most races don't permit them I think it is a CSA rule. Bottles at the back and sleeveless shirt is ok, if you don't mind the remarks.
  3. Tot in Swede ,waar die regering amptelik die LCHF dieet aanvaar het en dit vir hulle bevolking aanbeveel.
  4. www.enjoyfitness.co.za They make two types, both for under R 1000. Reptilla and Black. I have the Black which is the cheaper one. Use it for races training the lot. I can recommend them. Almost two years now.
  5. Heard this last night. Family member obese with high sugar and cholesterol, went onto strict Noakes diet without telling his doctor. Had his blood tests done.phones the GP. "Sorry you'll have to redo , they must have mixed your test with that of somebody else. All results normal here." His off the statins and insulin. Lost 18 kgs so far.
  6. Kleinbrak area. Big Dipper. The bridge crossing the river is being repaired. I could have walked through knee deep water, but was pointed to a scaffold plank by one of the workers. So on cheap MTB shoes and Spectra in hand I proceeded. My wife's often spoken words of wisdom came to mind. " Moet nou asseblief nie weer n poepol van jouself maak nie." I managed the 3 metre crossing ok. Either way it's a steep climb , nice view from the top.
  7. If it's a small dog you brake hard and then try to run over him him over.
  8. When I bonk during races I unashamedly suck wheel on the blue labels. On the other hand when I'm having a good race (that is being able to cling on to the back markers of group KL) I pass these poor struggling souls with an air of superiority on my way to the finish line.
  9. That article mentions a compound called Quercitin. Anybody used or heard of?
  10. We know. But they spend big money at SS , and can therefore dish out big klaps.
  11. It's happened before and it will happen again. One brain dead individual pushing buttons and the bosses all at home.
  12. Bloody supersport fools. Adverts 200 m from the line. And we miss the finish.
  13. I always get told by my daughter that a smartphone is a complete waste in my hands . So I pushed some buttons and I have it ready for the start.
  14. Juffou: Maak vir my n sin met die woord tuinslang. Jannie: Daar was n tuinslang in ons tuin , toe slaat my pa hom met die hosepipe dood.
  15. I appeal your decision. My answer " A Star Trek type beam", was close enough. I will deliver my complaint at a coffee shop in Stellies sometime in the future.
  16. An airbag of sorts ? Or a Startrek type beam. For roadies to use it it will have to weigh almost nothing.
  17. Ek hou my oog oop hier in die downtown van V Town.
  18. I Recently bought a myself a nice second hand carbon bike. In mint condition. Long and short of it fork was cut level and setup guy predicted back pain , and after a few rides he may be right. I've tried the options stems etc ,but the ideal solution is a fork that could be cut at the correct level. So I made a few enquiries and was loosely quoted prices from about R 1500 to R4000 So can I buy a no name brand of the shelf? What should I look out for? Was told to check if it's full carbon or if the shaft is aluminium. Is this important? And the curve (rake ?) Do I take the bike in and tell them to match it? I don't want to pay too much, but I'm also scared of cheap and nasty. Any thoughts appreciated.
  19. Get hold of the book Challenging Beliefs. Read it .Then argue the points . It is a high fat diet. Noakes specifically states that it is not a high protein diet. The science is there and research was done by others but buried or ignored by vested interests. He takes credit for unearthing the research and nothing else. The main point ,even for somebody that doesn't buy into the whole argument is that sugar is the enemy no.1 and not fat. Sweden has adopted the LCHF diet as the recommended one for their population. Allright I know, they also gave us ABBA, but a decision like this would not have been taken lightly. Please go read the book. Its not just about the diet . You may find a few of your own beliefs challenged.
  20. I normally have lame attempts at humour.. Apologies .I'm out of here. See you guys in CT tomorrow.
  21. My mates and I assaulted the driver of a van by hitting him with the wheel of a bicycle, and punching him in the face because he: a. Double parked b. Chirped me c. Stopped suddenly d.Showed me a sign e. Swore at me f. Hy't my ma geswear g Hy't my ouma geswear h,i,j........... Add as you wish
  22. Take a stand all you want Gerhard but stop giving us the anti patriotic label in every post.
  23. This is a problem for all sports not just cycling. Archers ,wrestlers ,rowers name them. The question is why should an organisation that has run its affairs well, be asked to foot these bills with little or no say in the matter
  24. Probably because it was a done deal anyway and the PPA's presence would have made no difference. And Sascoc's Tubby Reddy and Gideon Sam are always in the news for the wrong reasons. Edit: If I recall correctly a company owned by Sam landed a nice contract with CSA as the changes were made .
