  1. Bit of an anti climax actually. I midle the idle for 200kms and then sprint
  2. I use a powerCal strap but I'm not sure what the android app would be for? The powercal data seems pretty useful to my coach. I'm not so sure yet hie to interpret it.
  3. I agree, 5 years in development for a rider of his calabre shouldn't be seen as suspect. Plus he was born at high altitude. Isn't that what Douglas at MTN has been suggesting all along? Why when Africa have produced so many of the worlds top middle distance runners for so long, can't we produce the worlds top cyclists?
  4. What year was he second in the Giro del Capo?
  5. My Edge 500 have been showing “inconsistent” speed readings. Whenever I go faster than 30km/h it would jump all over the place from say 45km/h to 15km/h to 24 to 0 etc etc. Until it settle at what seems like a correct speed and then does it again. I've been doing intervals on the trainer and this only happens at high speed. Anyone seen this before? I've replaced the battery in the speed/cadence sensor. Been wanting to check out the magnet on the wheel but haven’t gotten that far. I haven't updated the software for about 18 months either. Any advice would be appreciated.
  6. Not so sure I agree that is a good idea. Maybe releasing data after the Tour yes, but then you still have next year’s Tour to come and everyone will pretty much know what (say Froome’) numbers are. With the way Sky is operating, they must have a fairly good idea where Berto is at the moment and also what his maximum possible numbers are and they will use it. But I’m hoping the guess work they have to do (by not knowing exactly where his at) will somehow unsettle them at some point. This of course is where doping has been so good for the exciting nature of the sport. You never quite know how much Armstrong doped on any particular day, so the competition never knew exactly what he was capable of. Last year’s Tour was one of the most boring in recent memory for a number of reasons. To see in a few days what the absence of the dope will mean for the excitement.
  7. The last really good toe-to-toe we've witnessed. Really hope we get to see some more this year round. PS. Just wetting my appetite bored stiff at work
  8. I hope you're right and I get a tall legged blonde behind the counter. I'm only travelling in August and riding in Stavanger doing Aarbakke-rittet (attached) and Tour des Fjords. But you may be jealous still. Really sounds like you had one hellova time.
  9. Mmmmm. Thanks for that. I'm due to fly KLM to Norway doing similar riding and I have to take my bike. But I do spot a loophole in those T&C's. To see what happens. Thanks for the heads-up. Oh, and well done!
  10. Can I ask where you get that bit of information from?
  11. Looking at Baby Schleck on that stage I wonder what it's going to take for that boy to regain form. He then can't hang with the front runners.
  12. I usually boil fresh ginger at night, squeeze in a lemon in the morning with a tablespoon of ginger in a water bottle. Mix boiling water into that and sip on it at the office. 2 or 3 times a week. I haven't been down with a cold for years. and when I have suffered a runny nose/chesty'ness or something I'm usually over it in 2-3 days.
  13. I like Froome and not so much Berto, but I sure hope the latter is pulling Sky a fast one. Let them fly high on confidence and see how they react the very first time they get put under pressure. Right now we all know what Sky's gonna do but Sky don't know what the others will do. Or Sky think they know what the others are capable of, but let's see.
  14. Made my first order with them 2 weeks ago. Efficient and smooth. Parcel was on my desk via DHL free of charge within a week.
  15. I live in the Mid-East, where they've built a cycling track under some low running power cables, like you describe and the same thing happens here. Haven't experienced it myself, but that's because I avoid riding there now. Electricity and I are not friends. Don't like things you can "feel" but you can't see. http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/how-cycling-in-dubai-can-make-your-hair-stand-on-end http://www.7daysindubai.com/shocking-experience-cyclist-bike-track/story-17717468-detail/story.html
  16. Hard to believe he can be that heavy. Berto' race weight is supposedly 62 and they are equal in height. Unless he carries more weight in muscle cause he ain't got an ounce of fat on him.
  17. What's VAM? That 6.06 is insane. How much does he weigh??? 60?
  18. Kiekiekieeee. At least the boytjie gets a mention.
  19. There was an insert on last nights news about these "I saw your profile" type of emails we all get now and again, and how the hole operation works. Apparently these are no longer coming from individuals but very well organized syndicates. I guess the tik-koppe is your average opportunist with hardly anything on his school report card, but the type who are into organized crimes are hardly stupid. I wish south African criminals would apply their brain power and thinking to something legit. They could all be very successful entrepreneurs.
  20. With a win in England, a win in Aus and this one plus a strong possibility of another against the Pataan (no disrespect) coming up, by how much will we be ahead of the rest in terms of the rankings?
  21. It's been mentioned somewhere else before about the Endomondo (and other apps) that records info such as where people start/finish their rides. (ie. their homes) Best to hide that sort of information from open viewing.
  22. Greater Manchester Police have warned cyclists that thieves are going on-line to scan forums and social media sites such as Facebook to work out where cyclists live and target expensive bikes they can then steal. "A combination of posting photos, putting on personal details and descriptions of routes cycled mean thieves can work out addresses where there is likely to be a bike of decent quality. "We are advising people to be careful about what details they give out on club sites, forums and on Facebook." http://www.cyclingcy...-news&Itemid=49
