  1. LOL...you seem to be the one with the issues...does your bike come with a tissue holder? Just made a comment that stated weight is sometimes/often understated. I'm sure your bike is awesome, hope it's all you expected it to be.... you have to ride it, sounds like you are hung up with it's cost and weight and have very little to say about it's performance, or how it makes you FEEL!
  2. Wow, that's hot, nice bike NSBB! How's your chain length, looks like you could probably lose an extra link or two?
  3. I have personally weighed the Scott Scale 29 Pro, and it's not 10.2kg's in standard spec, maybe on paper. Certainly not close in size XL. My new BigTop 29er, on paper should weigh 10.40ks it's closer to 11.00kg's in real life... maybe I should take some air out my tires?
  4. Tuna... that is an awesome bike... if I had to change something, I will agree with others that you need to change the brakeset. XT 2012 with Ice-Tech rotors will change your life!!!! And down the line when you need to give it a bit of a service bleeding XT is soooo simple and easy. Other than that, maybe change out the Scott components over time, i.e seatpost, stem and bars would go... then it will be SUPER schweeeet!
  5. LOL, you guys are all shaving some grams from your claimed weights, or your scales are a bit out.... Almost like how the fishermen adds a bit, cyclist shave a bit.... whenever someone tells me their bike weighs xx I add a good few grams to it, atleast 300g or more
  6. My wife thinks he's a HERO.... (she recon's he will be hot when he turns 30... not just yet ) I'm sitting on the fence for a while... Must admit.... his debut in the Le Tour has been simply incredible... He's made the Tour super interesting in the first week, which usually is the boring part where no-names and has-beens try silly breakaways..
  7. It depends.... Have a look at these two articles, and come back to us if you dont come right. http://www.pinkbike.com/news/tech-tuesday-headset-adjusting-2010.html http://www.pinkbike.com/news/technical-tuesday-headset-removal-install-2010.html
  8. Help......I forgot, please can someone remind me the park tool # for legs to help climb twin towers @ thaba ? (Inside joke, sorry).
  9. I think the TOPEAK is better than the Park Tool 9 or 10 models. It's much sturdier, it's awesome build/finish quality, and I think the clamp offers more possibilities with the 360 variable rotation. I have the tray and the scale... but i'm a geek, and want to weight stuff... it folds down nicely and also comes with a really nice carry bag.
  10. You bored, sitting at home, waiting for the new job? My vote goes to the TOPEAK, you know it!!!!! http://www.topeak.com/products/Repair-Stands/PrepStandElite
  11. Agree with Nigel, my XX Avid's are so crap compared to the SLX/XT brakes I'm going to take my XX's off my SB-66 THIS WEEKEND.... DONE!! Anyone interested, I'm willing to trade a set of brand new Avid XX"s for just about anything, even for a look up your girlfriends skirt...
  12. I hope those XTR's fit that frame... I just had some bad luck with trying to put those on a Yeti BigTop 29er... no way it fits... had to downgrade to XT... let me know!
  13. Every time I touch a set of those SLX's I am soooooo tempted to swop my Avid XX"s on my SB-66 to these.... They are better looking than the XT i.m.o and do the same Job!....
  14. LOL - says the guy that decided to take a plastic HT over the Salsa.... You have no spice... clearly from pretoria/centurion... ahhahahaahahha
  15. LOL- hypocrite
  16. LOL- like you will know the difference between 10 and 12 degree's... and does this take the actual head angle of your bike into account? And then the rise in your bars?

  18. Yes, yes, yes!
  19. Good looking frame... wonder if they will actually have it in stealth black like that, that would be awesome...(instead of boring silver/blues)
  20. Patches rides around on his DH rig lifting garden gnomes.... He has issuez...(lol)
  21. He's so damn quick, little bugger... wish there was someone that could give him a good go, sadly he's in a bit of a class of his own ATM.

    Thaba Toughee Two

Agreed, 100% - I would take the 20km at THABA over most 40-60km day races. It has climbs, drops, descends, twisty single track, wild animals, it's relatively close, and it's super fun. I'm amazed that people who have never been at Thaba would ask you to justify the price tag. I suggest they stop complaining and venture through for a day visit, at R30... and explore the trails for a couple of hours.... for those who don't know, the toughee event covers less than 1/3 of the total Thaba area, go have a ride!
  23. Hi Luke, we have one - the wife drives it and it's really awesome. (had it for about 4 months now). Very nice to drive and more than enough power for normal daily use. Very solid and very good on consumption....it sips slowly. We don't tow anything major but did get the automatic foldaway towbar which we use for the bike carrier. All in all a very solid build and a pleasure to drive.
  24. Busted. it now belongs to the interwebs... no delete button... it's out "there"
