  1. That's a nice set, but way too complicated for me to remember. I'd have to take a waterproof sheet to the pool with me, and by the time I've stopped, adjusted my goggles and tried to read what's next, I would have wasted too much time. I'm no great swimmer, but really enjoy it to loosen up after hard rides. I do something like 5 x 200, 2 x 100 (25 easy, 25 hard) then 6 50s ( 25 easy 25 hard) By then I've normally got cramp so I stop.
  2. How eerie was early part of Race day 2. Riding in singletrack before WOW, felt like riding on wet glass, was so slippery, in the rain, with visibility about 50cms in front from the mist. You know it drops savagely to the side but can't see the edge and with every pedal stroke you slide! Brilliant. Will stick in my mind forever that. So will the first 20m of the 360life bridge. The part where you just know you going to bin it. And then you don't.
  3. Yoh. RIP. That's just so sad.
  4. Hope ride goes well. Also suggest a small amount of lube if muddy. Chain suck sucks.
  5. Cool. Well done.
  6. I'm nowhere near top ten. Nothing to do with the speed, I just found the grip of the Ralphs way better than the Rons. The Ron's came with the bike new, and I've still got them, but found them to be really sketchy. Not sure of the theory, but for me, the Ralphs are more stable and much more confident. My riding partner found the same, on the same bike, and we both been very happy with the Ralphs.
  7. Michele I've got the dual suspension Scott and all good. I really enjoy it. No issues with the components, it's a good package. XT rear and SLX front all good. Brakes fine. It's a go fast bike, and seems a good price. Few things though. 1. Make sure it's right size 2. Change the tires to Racing Ralphs 3. Sure you want a hard tail?
  8. Really much easier with wireless if you can manage it. Much less hassle with twisty wires down the cables and fork.
  9. Could be easy. When you enter a race, organiser put a list or a link to a list, in laymans language, with Trade names of whatever will get you banned, on their website. Print the list and check if something you are prescribed or buy from the supermarket is on the list. If not, you good to go. If so phone your doc or pharmacy.
  10. The way I understand it, there are meds that you can take, when you need them, that are legal, you just need guidance as to which. You think a pro-sportsman cant take anything if he gets sick? Thats why they have lists, with do's and don'ts. Ask your Pharmacist
  11. Then my mate can take whatever he likes and beat me and its all good ?
  12. Not so complicated. There's a list, widely available at drug free sport websites, and it spells out what you cant take. If they test you, in 757th place and you shine, then you gone-dog. If thats the clear upfront rule, then when you get sick, check WHATEVER you take with your doc before-hand.
  13. Can easy get to Assagy from Giba or vice versa. But as mentioned, if you want to go through the cane you need an EMBA board. Can go on the tar up and over Alverstone if you like, or can go down sunrise and back under the bridge at Peacevale, then up to wherever you want to go. If coming from Assagay up sunrise then on to Giba, always a good ride. But pack extra juice and sarmies, quite a solid ride.
  14. The foundation does wonderful work.
  15. Bob, what's your connection to Ride for Sight? I mean the charity, not necessarily the race?
  16. Not sure tablet making falls into DIY?
  17. How's this weather? My heart goes out to all the folk living in temporary shelters. Don't think I've ever seen persistent heavy rain like this. The roads are like rivers. If you coming here for the holidays, pack an umbrella. And a wetsuit.
  18. Then you doing it wrong. For us, camping is the finest holiday that there is. We do caravans though, which makes it a bit easier.
  19. Agree with the always take the bike sentiments. But at St Lucia, where are you going to ride? Can't go North into the reserve, along the river there are hippos and crocs and snakes galore, so inland somewhere?
  20. Damn, you found me out. I actually did support Province ages ago as my second side, till you took Joel...
  21. Yip. It's time.
  22. Go boys. Big day out.
  23. Gee, never thought I'd get a lump in my throat seeing an Aussie caught slip. Congratulations Ricky. You are a legend, thanks for the battles. All the best
  24. OK changed my mind. Let's bowl for an hour today. Nice to see it swinging a bit now. But don't get bowled out. Can't see Vern, Dale and Morne getting any half-volleys
  25. Noooo Hash. Eish. Still legend batting. Respect. Good catch though. Previous ball AB belted their quickest off the front foot through midwicket.
