  1. Santini and Assos are both upper end shorts, but fit is a very personal thing. 100km per week doesn't sound like a whole lot of time in the saddle 🤷‍♂️ (type of riding and terrain obviously plays a role) and that could be contributing largely to your discomfort rather than the shorts you're using. You mention "gat-lam" but keep in mind that "harde-gat" comes with time. 🙈
  2. WPCA is generally responsible for winter cycling activity as others have already mentioned. I've also noticed that PPAs comms have become very limited and you'll probably need to follow their FB page to stay informed.
  3. Crash badly enough or have all those items stolen and you could be in for a significant loss ...
  4. A second wheel with trainer/slick tyre would probably be the cheapest option. (albeit not cheap) And swapping the wheels shouldn't be a big deal.
  5. Every time riders opted for the gutter/gravel I expected the worse. At times I had to close my eyes. LOL 🙈
  6. Me too, until my missus gets word of it.! LOL 🙈
  7. Live chat has become quite common and is really a great addition to online services. Some sites still relay very standard responses rather than specifically addressing the question/issue which can be very frustrating.! Well done to CWC for getting it right in this instance.
  8. These have just popped up: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bike-brakes/549123/road-bike-brake-set-cable-to-hydraulic
  9. Glad to hear that it wasn't as serious as some of the first posts suggested. Heal up quickly. 🙏
  10. Fair question if it's a dealer. 🤷‍♂️ How do think a got my 54 when a 56 was advertised. 😊
  11. That's what we think/say about peeing in the toilet too ... 🙈
  12. There's the option of mechanical-hydraulic calipers ... something like the TRP Hy/Rd perhaps. Giant also has a mechanical-hydraulic conversion.
  13. Refurbishment options: Carbon Bicycle Repair (Durbanville) Bicycle Maintenance Centre (Salt River) Not sure about the internal cable routing though.
  14. Suspect it's the latter but haven't used them myself ...
  15. I was very keen to get my feet in a pair for the day but didn't get to sourcing it. Not too disappointed now that I didn't. 🤣 I suppose it would have been difficult for any product to keep feet dry for 2-3hrs in those conditions... 🤷‍♂️
  16. I purchased 11spd Ultegra chain some time ago listed as OEM. Detail made specific reference to the packaging and that it was not in original Shimano box. Are you sure this wasn't the case with your purchase.? 🤷‍♂️
  17. Two of the biggest clubs in the area already mentioned. Otherwise touch base with the LBS in the area ... they are often at the centre of group rides. Cycles Direct and CycleTeknix come to mind. PS: if you were active in the southern suburbs, let me know who that was with. 😊
  18. Agreed. And as long as original seller got fair price, subsequent seller is fair to trade as deemed fit I guess.

    Fabric saddles

Fabric Scoop (shallow) has been my saddle of choice for a while. Seems Omnico is the distributor. Perhaps they can put you in contact with alternative retailer/retailer with test saddles.?
  20. The world believes you now.! 👌
  21. Must admit that I found similar with some S7 Mille bibs ... haven't noticed that with earlier/other models.
  22. With winter approaching, also keen to know which way to go ... Not to bothered about social participation, or game like platforms and would prefer budget friendly, structured/interval type workouts. Will read back a few pages to pick up suggestions. Have noted Rouvy, Trainer Road, Systm, RGT ...
  23. That is really is the big difference in my opinion. Comfort is subjective, but the quality and longevity of Assos fabrics is hard to dispute. There are other European brands which are arguably as good ... Santini, Nalini, Castelli etc. That's when it comes down to who's offering a good special. 😊
