  1. Preparing yourself and managing your effort during hot rides is also something that you can 'train' .... Just saying As far as 'help my traps' go I keep my thoughts to myself these days suffice to say there are many riders that genuinely need them, not as many as think they do, then there are those just getting an ego boost from it Maar nou ja hier sit ons
  2. I'm sure for the LSM 7-10 guys it's all good still ... I do get a fairly decent income but I am at the point where I have to select my 'leisure' activities carefully taking my family into account as well But just me then I guess
  3. Am I the only one that thinks that there is also a cost issue? #pensioner
  4. After all my excitement and preparation it was not to be 😞 Didn't sleep a wink Saturday night thinking I must be passing a kidney stone, ended up at an emergency visit to our doctor at 7am. He's just cool like that Fortunately not stones just a very bad bladder infection, loads of meds. Still not lekker but he says 2-3 days so we'll see. There's always next year 😎
  5. My favourite topic ... Has gotten even worse now that every man and his dog has a 'smart trainer' Could just be me though .....
  6. After a really tough year and a bit of all kinds of injury (trauma) and then the associated recovery in stops and starts I had decided riding a bike at races was the last thing I was concerned about. However I always rode when it was possible, sometimes round the block, at below walking effort but for my mind it helped. A few months ago my good mate Sam and his family decided that they would give me an entry to the short ride and it was in their opinion what I needed. Initially I thought ok whatever.... but as time went on I focused on not just riding but trying harder and I'm actually feeling good and thank the good Lord that they did that 😁 So .... decided with the possible crappy weather and that I need a comfy ride that my Monstercross will give with its fat tyres, tubeless and dinner plate/dangly jockey gears, just get to the finish and make use of all the water points and have a blast! Very different to the previous 17 times I've done it
  7. I thought all the cool kids are using these, bonus is from the front it looks like a GoPro harness thing?
  8. Note sure if Sunninghill is close enough but you won't find better in that area than Anton at Craft Cycles! https://www.craftcycles.co.za/
  9. There you go for all those desperately trying to make their gravel or other rigid off road bike more comfortable. Now you can really sit back and relax! https://road.cc/content/tech-news/saddlespur-bike-seat-has-patented-backrest-304951
  10. I assume not 'clicked in' properly? I have also had this problem when fitting one of those 'shaped' 12sp quick links upside down some years ago ... Luckily my man Grumpy quickly pointed out my error. The knowledge that oke has stored never ceases to amaze me! Every cyclist needs a guy like that in his life 😎
  11. No ride is too long when you have good company, I prefer to ride alone despite the associated problems it may bring but having said that there are 2 people I will ride with any opportunity I get! One is my older brother but he lives in the land of the long white cloud now ... The other is my son and lately I've been able to put in lots of rides with him, long may it last 😎
  12. Me and my therapist 😎
  13. Not sure ... my man was painting a BMW of some type that was that colour ... I just happened to pop passed and decided to use the same colour on this frame
  14. Why? Just because we can 😎 - not so much where but what bike .... Variety is the spice of life as the saying goes!
  15. As I'm heading out the door I hear wait Grandad wait! My 🐻 to tell me that if I see a car I must stop 😍 2 okes pass me on MTB's, one commenting on my road 'one by' says to his mate 'you see a dinner-plate sized low gear and a long dangly derailleur isn't necessary to get up here' 😂😂
  16. Ai ai ai some Philistines here 😝 But build whatever blows your hair back ...
  17. Thanks Chewie! *goes on a brake quest* The rest I do have ... yes even the bar end shifters 👀
  18. Scrap that idea ... just remembered why I didn't try this kind of option long time ago ... it's a mission (i.e. I didn't get it to work) to get mtb shifters and brakes mounted on what is essentially a cut down road bar ... it's a different diameter Anyway if there's a solution I'm all 👂👂
  19. Damn it .... now you've put an idea in my head 😏 I have some 'bullhorn' bars, a failed idea for my commuter bike ... spare hydraulic brakes, 10sp shifters and a frame I have a fork, not rigid but what the heck it's only for mucking around 😎 I think an option 1 bike would be a hard sell but who knows?
  20. I was a bit unsure but decided to just 'roam' not to far from home so I could get back pretty quick if it started to rain. The weather gods were on my side thankfully. Like you I knew that if I didn't go and it didn't rain, I'd be miserable with myself all day.
  21. One of those 'are you riding or are you hiding" days on the Highveld! All is good in the 'hood, my man Alvaro and Ducati are SBK world champs 🏆
  22. Something different today ... really good fun but with a tinge of sadness. Times change and I guess the things you expect to see won't always be there 😏
  23. If it was me I'd get a hardtail 'help-my-trap'
  24. Sorry man I missed your post ... I have no idea. Hopefully they'll answer your post on FB
  25. Not following, the first screenshot was Friday and the second today ....
