  1. We caught 4 groups ahead of us, maybe should reverse the start order.
  2. FD is not so full of @#$ .. you can get away with alot. If you have one at moment, try it. See: https://bike.bikegremlin.com/1297/bicycle-front-derailleur-compatibility/ Shimano road and MTB FDs have different cable pull ratio – that is the amount of FD movement for each mm of cable movement. This means that MTB FDs might not work well with indexed road shifters and vice versa. With double chainrings, this issue can be fixed with adjusting limit screws and it could be made to work. With triple chainrings, it is harder to get it to work properly. However, FD cage is a lot wider than the chain and triple FDs have just 3 positions, so depending on particular shifter – FD combination, even that can sometimes be made to work OK.
  3. Previous years one got vouchers in almost all magazines or goody bags for a entry, so wifey could join easy and we strolled through, now she has to wait outside and i run through to get number..(she not paying R50 to look at “specials”). I would definitely make it free for all or at least one free entry extra per rider
  4. Below is what we do for images , google gives site about 95-100 for page speed. Image loaded is determined on device width . Each image is about 14kb on large screens. Total page size with 10 listings is 558kb/224kb on the wire with all visible images above fold loaded. As you scroll, rest gets loaded as it gets above fold. 2nd visit (after js/css cached on pc) , 200kb /62kb on the wire. <picture class=""> <source class="" srcset="https://www.example.co.za/main/cache/image/9861/9/0/98619/small/cottage-exterior.jpg" media="(max-width: 740px)"> <source class="" srcset="https://www.example.co.za/main/cache/image/9861/9/0/98619/small_sq/cottage-exterior.jpg"> <img id="listing_image_98619" class=" mx-auto d-block rounded img-thumbnail img-fluid delay_load " title="Cottage Exterior" alt="Cottage Exterior" style="min-height:160px;min-width:90%" src="https://www.example.co.za/main/cache/image/9861/9/0/98619/small_sq/cottage-exterior.jpg"> </picture>
  5. should not change anything on load times. You load the non visible images only after click (use lazy load if you lazy). Also use picture with different image src based in viewport size to optimize image delivery based in device
  6. iPhone 6 I launched site while back with same amount pics etc, ill go check what i did to get speed fast,
  7. images was just blank on zoom click yesterday. I tried it now and it loads eventually, its just very slow it seems. Will check more detail when back at pc also on mobile view, header is all overlapping
  8. Just to also say, zoom don't work on IPAD on classified either, which is really PIA when you try to buy a bike and no details on the advert and need to zoom in to see frame size /make etc
  9. Was checking stats now .. On the DC my average power was 178w for 30km/h , around the pot the average was 170W for 20km/h, distance 40km difference, but climb was about same.. Both events I did lots of drafting and alot of sitting in the wind. Guess one can easily gain 5-7km/h with bit more appropriate wheels/tyres , I did it on 2.4's and one cannot really call them very efficient on the rolling test on smooth roads. Wonder of some gp4000's will fit on my 29er's rims
  10. I did on my hardtail , it was good day out, but would have loved something more efficient on dirt roads..
  11. The 100miler is very up/down/up/down/up/down Get lightweight bike (gravel bike perfect) and make sure you can do 30-120 second climbs... repeatedly My 2019 Strava ride and you can see the profile... https://www.strava.com/activities/2548036697 Definitley an experience, and must do event..
  12. Looking at this, I keep on wonder why I even still pay medical aid. Ours used to cover alot, now 90% we have to pay cash, nothing is covered anymore.. no dental, no glasses, no doc visits , and we on the 2nd highest option with savings. told my wife it will be better to take the money we pay each month, put it into money market. We will have within 1 year more than we spend on all medical bills on average for last 10 year , and that includes alot of hospital visits, hysterectomy , neurologist vistits , glasses, dentists etc.
  13. Is just me or do images zoom in classified not work in Edge browser, its fine in FF? Edit: added some of the console errors ........
  14. The problem is that alot of the "weaker" riders in the top bunches get there by very strategically sitting in in the bunches and never put there nose into the wind and so move up the ranks (nothing wrong with it, we've all dont that). Now, its about 30-40% saving if you sit in the middle of the bunch, so this makes a very big difference in fitness between the guys who sit at front working hard vs person sitting in middle. Throw in vissers, which you have to be strong on, its steep and long. The guys that always work up front, gets a gap (they stronger after all), the weaker riders drops back.. So at the top, you sit with 1 bunch of strong riders and skinny climbers and another bunche/s of weaker riders. Those weaker riders will now again go sit at back hoping someone might do some work, which of course don't happen and the pace drops dramatically overall. If vissies is at the end, then everyone hides and save energy as much as possible, group stay intact and guys hiding is fresh at end. The guys doing all work is tired .. So hit the hill, the hard working guys that is normally strong is now slow up the hill, the guys in middle of bunch is fresh, so they climb all at same pace. So weaker riders overall time is much better ... Well, thats my Monday morning theory.
  15. Vissers force the wheel suckers and the bad climbers in faster groups to drop back alot. Beta is calculated on how many top riders go slower.
  16. the winners time really got adjusted ... pheww. Even with the beta I actually got worst seeding than my starting group and I finished top 3rd... Social Argus it is then
  17. haha. Probably true, but that would have sounded like I wanted to actually do some work
  18. mine is just. Yawn , absolutely boring race today... but still better than not riding my bike.
  19. Excellent report! All best with the retirement :-) (Last few photo not loading, tried few browsers, all do same.....)
  20. Here GPX from this route, not 100% sure is correct https://www.strava.com/routes/23752454 99er 2020 beta.gpx
  21. Have to wait for racing snakes for seeding numbers guess $#%abc as per nor al. With 3-4 min gaps. B is 6:17
  22. Seeding is out.. Either my seeding is really crap or smaller groups... guess the first
