  1. Depends mostly on when their invoices are received, I reckon. Not too clued up on the whole process, but I know you can't just transfer USD unless you've got a reason for it (proven imports, for one) and for that you need an invoice. Either that, or an offshore account. Not too sure how many saffa companies (in the distro world) have that, or just pay as and when. As you know, Banna - forward cover is a tricky mistress.
  2. Had another look. USD price at the time of purchase was $4,800 and USD was 11.5 so that equals ZAR 55,200. I got it for less than 50k due to some specials going on at the time. Fast forward to now. USD is around 15 to the ZAR and the USD price is $ 5,200. That's R 78k so ja a little out, but at 16:1 that moves to R 83,200. I think the last batch was brought in at around the 16:1 mark, so if you take those figures, it's a 51% price increase. 8.3% of that was due to the increase in USD price, the rest was solely exchange rate movements. The only piss taking is in the exchange rates and time of purchase. If you import when the USD hits 16, you get reamed and you need to pass that on to the consumer unless you've done some forward pricing and paid before the goods hit our shores. Likewise, taking recent weeks into account - if you waited just ONE week, you'd have either saved or paid 10% more in one fell swoop by delaying payment a bit.
  3. Lol. Someone was wrong on the Internet. But yeah dude. Shaite is overpriced for us plebs in ZOOMAVILLE. When the bike I bought for less than 50k last year now retails for north of 80k (reign advanced 1) purely due to the USD movements (okay, there was a USD400 price increase as well) then I start worrying. But it's all explainable if you look at the numbers. Carbon frames are still going for about USD3000 on average. This means that your super bike frame was 32k this time last year or so. Now, it's 45k. Mehness.
  4. Giant is probably the best value you'll get anywhere out of a "normal" distribution model, until Spez does their end of season last stock sales. Though saying that, your comparison is a bit out. Slx / deore mix vs SRAM GX. GX is equivalent of SLX if you must compare. So YT takes that round. Deore brakes vs SRAM DB5. Same level, though I'd prefer the DRAM Giant P-AM2 wheels vs DT SWISS m1700. No contest. Giant dropper vs reverb. Even contest here Monarch vs monarch plus. No contest here either. Pike vs Yari. More difficult though the Pike wins this even though the yari is the better chassis. Deore crank vs RF Aeffect crank. I'll take the raceface. So no. Not beating it hands down in the value stakes, especially considering the differences in exchange rate at time of pricing, most likely. Current USD price is USD 3400 for the Reign. YT is at current rates USD 3,333. Next time, just check the facts before firing that shot.
  5. That's what happens when the ZAR gets shot to shaite... Btw. Reign 2 is USD3400. At current rates (15 or so) that equates to R51k. So last stock must have been at a lower rate, or they're prepping for the new reign to arrive. As for XT being better than X1... nope. Same level.
  6. Coffee table - definitely gloss, IMO. Unless you've got a darn near impervious solution for matt... Matt also needs more maintenance than gloss. Plus, I reckon with a semi-gloss finish that wood will pop... brilliant contrasting wood there.
  7. Love that, isetech. Lekker burnt detail on the legs. You should get enough for an edge 25 from that.
  8. Very nice indeed. Love Kiaat! This is my latest creation. Had a bit of ratty old pallet wood masquerading as a "2 hour coffee table" which was just a stopgap. Repurposed it into this... Needs a bit of an alteration (seat a bit too short for my liking - easy fix) and it's secured solely with screws for now. Wanted to check it out before gluing anything...
  9. www.store.steampowered.com For ones with money to burn and an eye for sales!!!
  10. Still LOVE that head tube. SOme real design work there.
  11. buy a used one or at least test one out before you buy. Neck braces aren't for everyone and I found it excessively restrictive when it came to head movement with one on. Full faces - give the guys at The Trailhead a shout. They'll sort you out.
  12. Yes, canis is definitely thinner than the ibex. Strange that its losing air. Have you checked the seal and valve?
  13. Those 120TPI Canis sidewalls are very thin - it's the lightweight paper-thin XC Race version, so it's not surprising that they're leaking air and sealant. You'll need to keep them topped up and inflate tehm every so often until the sealant forms enough of a barrier inside the tyres. Should have bought the 60tpi.
  14. if you use your device inside the gym, that takes precedence as it's the highest points that gets the nod.
  15. Dude. I'd be bugging him harder than an 18 year old Amish boy trying to get a glimpse of a porn mag...
  16. TBH if my wife bought ME a kitchen to hide a particularly large sporting purchase, I'd be over the moon...
  17. Not just you. As carbon & alu construction techniques are refined, designers are able to concentrate more on aesthetics. In my opinion, at least.
  18. It's a theoretical max, linked to your vitality points at the time of purchase. An either / or, if you will. 25% back (on primary store purchases) subject to an overall limit of 25% of your Vitality Points tally OR R 4,000 p/m - whichever is lower. Essentially they're saying that your qualifying spend is limited by your vitality points. So because they had 1,000 points in Jan, even though they spent R 1,950, they only qualify for cashback on R 1,000 spend. If they'd spent R 4,000 on Healthy Gear (just at TS) then even though they COULD get R 1,000 back, they would only get R 250 back as they've only accumulated 1,000 points. Also - Healthy Gear Spend at your primary store accumulates to the benefit first. But, if you've done the fitness assessment you have at least 5,000 points anyway (hopefully) then another 12,000 or so from the online questionnaires which you should do as soon as the new year starts. So the Vitality Points limitation shouldn't ever come into it. Shouldn't
  19. I've heard rumours of reintegration with Strava. But that could be a while off. MMF still allows for user uploads, so that's probably the reason it got canned. So now, it's Apple, Samsung Gear, Garmin, Suunto, Polar, Fitbit HR. Fitbit got reintegrated earlier this month... as did suunto.
