  1. Not on the committee any more, dude. I used to be, and I used to be up there often but not as much any more. I still go to build days when I can, but the oke up there at the moment is Bennet Nel of Ace of Spades, as well as Deon. Thanks for the props though - will pass them on to the okes who are doing the work!
  2. Fixed. I agree that it's ambush marketing, but there are other ways to go about remedying the situation than rampantly closing trails. In this case, it's not the MTBers behaving badly, which would be the only reason (apart from landowners decisions) to close trails on a plot where MTB has been central for ages, and so much work has been done.
  3. From what i've heard, Ride In have really come with an attractive offering that has left these guys floundering. Showers, better food, better facilities and so on.
  4. Thing is that some companies want to remain anonymous in their donations, no matter the cause. But I for one am all for Spaz making their involvement known.
  5. does Bennet know about this? EDIT: I see you do mention him.
  6. Ah, so they've seen how it's happened in CT and realised that they need to institute something like it as well... Yet again, leading the pack...
  7. Spoke typed? You waving around a spoke and using it to bash the keys?
  8. Yeah, but that's cos they're proper flats. With these, the pins are the secondary securing device, after the cleats. So they're not as important to have. But where it's better than the DX's is that they have the pins whereas the DX just has the cage with a few filed sections. When you're not clipped in, the pins will grip the soles better than the cage on the DX. So it's a combination. If you had too many pins, you'd probably not be able to reposition your foot as easily when you needed to clip in. 2 fore and 2 aft is enough to keep the foot in position when you're not able to clip in quickly enough. That's my take, at least.
  9. They're pretty much brand new. Look like they use the same system as Shimano, so SPD compatible. Which means they SHOULD be reliable, cos it's a very very reliable system, that.
  10. NO. Maybe the Mallet DH, but there's a reason they're called Crap Brothers. I'd MUCH rather have the DX than the CB's. But those Funns are HAWT!!
  11. They're being brought in by these guys... http://www.performancebikes.co.za/pFUNN0016/Mamba-flat-pedals-with-two-sided-clipless.aspx Not cheap, but 590g for a pair vs 543 (claimed) for the DX's. But these have proper pins, and look t have a better platform
  12. If I were buying cleats again, I'd buy those.
  13. Yes, but I'm more intrigued with these... http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/109/photos/63265/s780_BT_20130829_untitled_shoot_037.jpg?1378261529
  14. Screwdriver works well. There's a cutout on one section. As long as you're careful and lift it off gradually, it'll be fine.
  15. You need it - it is the bearing race. Just take it off your old one and fit it to the new one, by using some slightly wider pipe to slide it down the steerer. Put it in some boiling water for a few minutes first, though, to slightly increase its size so that it fits on easier.
  16. I dunno, tbh. Will measure when i can And you're right, there. I remember my WTB wolverine 2.2 was a monster. But a converted 650 with a 2.2 crossmark is, from what i have read, the same if not smaller than a large volume schwalbe 2.35 on a sixer
  17. But my take - either get bigger tires (2.35 magic or muddy Mary on a 26inch rim is the same size as a 2.2 on a 650B rim) or sell and get the Trance 2 650b
  18. You sure your dropper is 31.6? AFAIK they are all 30.9 tor the giants
  19. nope. It was the tuna in veg oil from WW. Last time I get the ones in oil then. Will let it go to the cat tonight and have the chicken instead.
  20. Finally, finally come to the start of what I hope will be my own journey. I have 28kg to lose to get to my goal of 85kg, which is definitely achievable. Now to start trying to incorporate the principles into my everyday life, including cooking dinner etc. Just had my first breakfast. Black coffee, loads of water, half an avo and 23 boiled eggs with a bit of mayo. Lunch is either a tin of tuna (in oil) or a chicken breast, and the other half of an avo.
  21. You were there, Cassie... so was I... It was at Dirtopia last year. Meurant chaired it...
