  1. Perhaps I'm reading incorrectly but you dont exactly say who set up the new group, you only mention the LBS switching it out, not setting it. If I was you, I would take it back to them and ask them to look at it first.
  2. I'm from Benoni, of course Sweat & Gears makes the most sense
  3. To be honest I did have a good race. My bike stayed in one piece and I did my best time for 103km's to date. Some people need the goody bag to feel special
  4. I think that only the open cats get race packs, so I dont even bother anymore since I'm licensed. Did the open cats also not get a race pack? I only saw 2 guys taking photos along the roadside, but got mauled by photographers after the race.
  5. The tandems that got into the sprint finish of the VA's should have been DQ

  7. Hi Spartan, last year, my club and I trained and then rode from JHB to Pietermaritzburg, finishing off with the Amashova. Took us 4 days with the race on the 5th. We just did 50-60 km's Tuesday's to Thursday's, 30 odd km's on the Friday and then a 80km on the Saturday and a longer 100+ ride on the Sunday. Tuesday's, Friday's and Saturday's we rode hard, but the other days were quite easy. Hope this helps.

  9. anyone got problems with the Protrainer 5 and Vista? I have downloaded all the updates but it still wont copy the data correctly from the HRM to my laptop through the IR port. I did a 50km ride yesterday and it transferred the data as 2km's.

  11. legspeed dude, and remember they will have to send out a search party for your body bits if you come off at that speed, and your family can toast to all the parts that they dont find. dougaroony2009-01-14 07:31:56

  13. Dont forget that shedding bike weight costs big moola, you are looking at R1000 per 100g usually. If you form part of the Fat a$$ group of wannabee cyclists like me who pigged out on xmas pies and turkey over the festive season, you can shed kg's of butt for free by making a bee line to the treadmill or stairmaster at your local gym instead of to the buffet table. dougaroony2009-01-13 06:49:47
  14. Too heavy?
  15. I hope you will be 'Ry Ding' it for many happy km's dude
  16. The rule of thumb to weight loss is to burn more calories than you consume. But by trying to eat as healthy as possible doesnt necesserily mean you are eating healthy foods, maybe just a bit better than you are used to (eg: a single burger instead of a double cheeseburger). The wrong combinations and portions of protein, carbs and fats can in fact increase your fat percentage, even with healthy food. Metabolism also plays a huge part in the equasion. Try to get assessed by someone who specializes in dietry requirement for sport. They will do a fat test and also give you a proper diet to stick to, based on what you want to achieve (fat loss, muscle gain etc). They will also measure you on a weekly / monthly basis and monitor progress accordingly.
  17. Never had an issue with the sram quicklink. Used one on my Dura Ace chain and now I use one on my Campy record chain too. I still clean my chain on the bike though.
