  1. I run a compact crank with a 28 cassette on the back (107kgs so go up the hills sloooowwwwly). Could still pedal (at over 70km/h) down long tom pass yesterday. So my advice would be standard crank and look for a pro team if you're spinning out on the flats, or otherwise cadence training.
  2. How cool was that time trial today??!! Definitely going to be back next year, with a few more miles in the legs though! What an awesome race. Also stoked that I can wear my hoodie now. They are pretty sweet.
  3. Ok so doesn't look like the accident was as bad as I made out. A bit of adrenaline may have changed the story a little. Girl didn't ride today bus seems like it was more of a bunch skills issue than anything. Day 3... Finally found our legs. Had a great day out. Much preferred today to day 1. I think the shade made a big difference. Also managed to find a group which was much better than riding alone as we did on day 1 and 2.
  4. There was a girl in front of us who came down just before the turn onto the N4. Apparently there was a little bit of aggro resulting in the crash, the guys that caused the crash just rode on. She did finish tho, what a champ, properly grazed on her leg and face. But I agree Talus, easy to push a bit too much on the fast middle section and then HURT in the last 20km.
  5. Aaaannnnddddd I'll stick to the green line thanks. Look at it every time we ride past tho. Done it once or twice but I think that for me its a break waiting to happen.
  6. Just trying to get bearings.. Is the bomb hole that drop just above the bridge that crosses the spruit? The "green" line going around to the left?
  7. Also longer cranks on an mtb reduce pedal clearance. I'm 193cm tall and have only ridden 175mm cranks. They're what come standard on most xl frames, so it's what I ride.
  8. I had a Kona, sold it to my mate. Weld cracked outside of warranty. Kona says "have any new frame at 50% RRP. Oh and keep the old frame to see if you can have it repaired." I reckon that's pretty decent.
  9. Insured through a broker The Brokerage, and my underwriter is Echelon. Got my house, car, and everything through them. PM me for details.
  10. I think I pay around R80 for my 25k Anthem.
  11. Comprehensive. Basically insured unless I'm racing for money, or haven't locked it up (during transport or at home)
  12. #addtocart I was wrong about the Temple... was copper not gold. But pure porn. http://rouesartisanales.over-blog.com/7-categorie-88517.html
  13. Good point. And I remember seeing something about a Burry Stander ltd edition for about 15kUSD
  14. Also curious. But not the first time I've heard 200k for a road bike. I know that about 10 years ago you could get a custom Temple in midnight blue and gold leaf for about 150k. I expect it must be something similar.
  15. More complex than that. Cosmic are the aero range, rsys is the light range, aksium is training and ksyrium is the general race range. Then you get elites, sl, slr and all sorts of variants within those ranges. So to say which is best is tough as its dependant on application.
  16. If guys are going out to steal bikes, they're going to get through anything. All the bike locks do is deter opportunistic theft. I have a mate at work who swears the best is to leave it unlocked... then it looks suspicious and the guys leave it alone.
  17. I also thought so as I hit post. Edited.
  18. Aren't they Edit: inappropriate comment
  19. Lacing Lalph and Locket Lons for me please.
  20. Post links to this thread on their wall?
  21. It's not about your bike, or how you ride your bike, it's how you stand by your bike that counts
  22. Tiff doesnt open on android without an app. For those of you who are interested... screenshots
  23. So I heard a similar story this weekend, same shop. PM me for details. If you can get a few separate cases together then hopefully you can get reimbursed.
