  1. Going this route now.... however in stages. Was running RR Snakeskins front and rear. Rear RR will now be replaced with the front RR, and a Barzo up front, and then rear RR will become a Saguro when it's done.
  2. Exactly. It's an out and out XC racing fork. So the guys using this are not going to be running 2.4 tyres with chunky tread patterns. Also this fork is max 100mm, not the like the "normal" version.
  3. Looks like technically it's the same thing - (ie the problems you're having with yours would be exactly the same as on this one. The Step-Cast has a slightly narrower crown (stanchions are closer together), different lowers (The lowers transition from a tube to a "beam" lower down to accommodate the brake disk and hub, and the arch is not a "half circle" , but slightly fuller "circle" to get around the tyre and still line up with the narrower crown. So functionally (in terms of the suspension) it's exactly the same, but with less material in the lowers.
  4. Has anyone had a problem with sweat on the inside of the lense with Jawbreakers?
  5. Kickr, Garmin SC (with the speed magnet on the crank cos I lost the other one - but it works), Garmin HR, AntStick and Zwift. plus a Fenix3 to assist with giving me normalised power and all if I wan it. Then get a training plan. Zwift Workout mode for intervals in erg mode will hurt you like you have no idea. And then Wahoo Utility to calibrate the Kickr every now and then. Use cyclinganalytics plus a coach/mate to assist with training plan and analysis.

  7. I thought so too... must be close on R30 for a serving!
  8. And the names for the different thickness grips.... Less Luv, More Luv and Much Luv! I think my bike needs More Luv!
  9. Not sure if it's live.... http://www.mobii.com/csa/SARC/
  10. Is there perchance a dedicated Aeropress thread? Can't seem to find one but may be being a bit of a dork.
  11. It sounds more like an event than a race (with the Mild and Wild), with a number of "side" trails which make up the Wild part of it. I think this is a pretty cool idea, but not really sure how it will be managed. I get the impression from the write up that it's going to be a bit more Grace2Grace than Trailseeker (I get this from the "boutique" Ryanpmb). Above in mind, it really does sound pretty awesome. Looking forward to see whether this is just a well written preview, or if it lives up to it.
  12. from 7.4 kgs for the Hypervox to 4.5 kgs for the Sculp..... Something tells me that's not only a frame change.
  13. If the region is determined by where the post was made from rather than a profile specific setting get then I think I contributed highly to the Kenya number....
  14. That Casco looks pretty sweet as well.
  15. Even though it's a Project One: Using MSRP / RRP prices advertised at some online stores (which lets be honest... are really just prices there to make you think you're getting a good deal) Wheels: DT Swiss M1900 are around R4k call it 5k with postage and duties http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/dt-swiss-m-1900-spline-29-wheelset-100-15-x-142-12-139223 MSRP EURO299 http://www.jensonusa.com/!P8mFzuLwVTxsV11TMDO5kA!/DT-Swiss-M-1900-Spline-29-Wheel MSRP 168USD http://www.jensonusa.com/Mountain-Wheels/DT-Swiss-M-1900-Spline-275-Wheel MSRP 235USD Tyres: R2k for Racing Ralphs from Evobikes. Groupset is R15k MSRP http://www.evobikes.co.za/components/groupsets/shimano-xt-m8000-2-x-11-speed-mtb-groupset.html RRP R14,995 Rotors: XT Ice Tech RRP is R795 and R725 from Evobikes Then the following are the most expensive I could find on Evobikes: Seatpost: R4k for a Ritchey Superlogic from Bars: R3.7k for Enve 760mm also from Evobikes Stem: R3k for the most expensive Ritchey from Evobikes Saddle: R4k for a Kium Fizik from Evobikes That comes to just over R38k MSRP (Only 28k if you use the actual prices on Evobikes) So the frame, fork, headset and shock for between R52k and R62k? Yah..... I'd propably get something else.
  16. Looks like they pulled the design off the Pyga Oneten29 and made a couple small changes and added a whole lot of price tag.
  17. Nice going Team CaroCap. I'm currently up in Samburu country, so know what it's like to ride here.... it's HOT!!! and DRY. a) I'm really not sure how you're even managing to ride as far as you are each day, and b) to do it in these conditions! Wow that's serious stuff!
  18. Look, if you only use wahoo fitness app (in whatever mode) and just ride its not going to be entertaining. The various different apps make it entertaining (imo). It's not as fun as riding on a mountain. It's not at fun as riding in a group on the road. But I think the comparison here is not that.... the comparison is that it is infinitely more entertaining than a standard trainer.
  19. Add Zwift to the supported apps. As far as I know the tacx vortex smart is the cheapest option for a smart trainer. Again not apples with apples. Banged out a 3h40 ride on my kickr last Sunday on Zwift. Never managed a ride longer than 40 mins on my "Jet Black" also I can hear the TV. Great thing about these smart trainers is you can put them in erg mode and watch 2 episodes of your favourite series for an "easy", convenient, and really importantly safe 100TSS session without really noticing that you're putting the hours in.
  20. Ash. ... OK that makes sense. The course I was riding had gradients of up to 16 percent.... but what I did notice was that the trainer wasn't actually responding to the gradient.. so it was pretty much a constant gradient throughout, so really not sure. I was expecting fast gains due to being off for a few months, so think I'll just take it as it goes. I expect FTP to be in the region of 370 by Sani2C.... so 290 seems a little high for now... 270 is probably more realistic especially since my first test was literally my 3rd or 4th hour on a bicycle since mid May. Will retest mid October and see Another change is climate.... did my FTP in Jhb and now at about 800m amsl so I expect that would make a difference too.
  21. A quick question about updating your FTP... So I've been VERY untrained since beginning of June due to geographic location and limited access to equipment. Then got a Kickr in August (Yay) and did and FTP test on trainerroad. Scored a whopping 234W (and I feel that I tested well, couldn't have managed much more) So now I have my Kickr and a bike with me, and am training alot more. so just about 10 days after my test, TP tells me i have a new FTP (254W) woohoo! so I punch that in as my FTP and keep going (I'm mainly riding on Zwift, 30-45 mins a couple times a week plus some long rides on the weekend, also gonna be Zwift until the roads here have been graded cos they currently make CraterCruise Ultra feel like tar). Anyway... so on Thursday I decide to do a bit of a burner lap around Richmond, new 20min Max.... 307W! massive jump. So should I now be setting my FTP at 292W, or leaving it at 254? Did 100km yesterday on the Richmond course and average power was 193W for 3h40min. How much of a difference will changing my FTP make to my TSS scoring, (I got a 274 TSS for the 100km and was poked after the ride - 4 hour nap type of poked) Basically the question is how often should you update your FTP?
  22. Could be.... I interpreted it differently mainly due to the fd only being a receiver not a transmitter. Therefore you only change state of the fd rather than shifting up or shifting down. Although the "yaw" on the fd they speak of indicates that there is more processing than I originally thought.
