  1. remember to add 15.4% that they charge you when you bring it in. I saw cwc had a good price on xx1 with x01 cassette. edit: sorry read that as crc.
  2. My mate broke one of their scandium seatposts after a year, and had one of those crankarm bolt thingies sieze in his xt crankshaft but I think thats and alu on alu thing.
  3. +1
  4. Exactly, won't help in the case of a direct strike. But it does help with step and touch potentials, two of the other mechanisms I spoke of. When lighting strikes the energy flows into the ground, but some also flows along the surface.... if you are a better conductor than the ground it will flow through you instead.
  5. You're less likely to be injured while on your bike than if you're walking. If you can track stand under a bridge you're probably as safe as you can get as long as you're not propping yourself next to a column or the wall.... Re the building up a charge, and thus attracting lightning.... lightning isn't that predictable unfortunately. what it comes down to is that lightning strikes are probabilistic. They also do damage to people through at least 5 different mechanisms. To minimise your chances of being "struck": seek shelter, stay low(er than surrounding structures), keep your feet together, stay away (about a meter) from vertical structures.
  6. Since it is the Spruit.... in order of importance: tightest lycra, wheel size, pedal type (non-spds beat spds beat flats), number of carbon bits. That should sort out who has right of way without actually logging onto Strava. How do you insert Emoticons on the mobile site?
  7. Customisable graphs, so I can select the x and y axis fields however I want them. Or a formula using various recorded fields and constants.
  8. Hey Tesla. So first off you need to check if your equipment can accommodate discs. Your frame can... I can see the mounting holes for the rear calliper. Can't see if the shock can from the pics but it needs to have mounting holes on the left side of the fork to mount the calliper. Then you need to check your hubs. From the photos they are definitely not a 6bolt mount but I can't see if they are centrelock hubs or not. If your fork and hubs are not disc compatible it could be an expensive upgrade. Your best bet then would be to buy a second hand set of wheels and maybe a second hand fork. But you're still in for about 1k on wheels, 1.5k for a fork, 1.5k for the brakes, 500ish for rotors and then any adapters to mount the calliper to the frame/fork.
  9. My road bike was detailed as a 'Giant VCR' for ages. Can only imagine how an assessor would have spent days at dion wired or hifi corp trying to find out what it was and what the replacement value was.
  10. Glad to hear you're ok. Absolutely hate it when our response to these things is 'at least I'm/everyone is ok, and its insured so its fine'.... makes me feel like we are being grateful to the bastards for not hurting us, that they only took my pride and joy, made me paranoid about me and my family, showed no regard for people in general and so on (insert any other feeling you've had after a similar incident here).
  11. Busy with this at the moment actually. Frame on the way. Don't forget to add up things like bars and stem and seatpost and saddle and headset and and and... but you can go with an epicon up front for 3k, puck up wheels for 1.5k or less, brakes, I'd love white brakes but best seems shimano deore 615 off easybike. But you need to add rotors at 350 each. I came out to a price of about 12k depending on what you throw at it. Also don't forget tubeless and tyres. It all adds up very quickly. ps. Can anyone recommend cool chain tugs for the on-one ss ltd.
  12. I tend to do this as well. Also you don't spook the rider as you come past. Even in short lapped races where you may be passing the same person several times its still up to you to pass. However swearing at ANY fellow rider is not cool in my books. If you can move over for someone behind you, offer if you know they're there. It's really not that difficult to be polite.
  13. Hot commuter crank
  14. Definitely not circumference as you get a 2.2 in 650B, 29 and 26 inch wheel sizes. Then your height and width of tyre will be proportional as the tyre has a nearly round section unlike a car which has a more rectangular section - not sure if that makes sense. So you will find a 2.2 has more volume or height AND more width than a 2.1
  15. Does it come with free shipping?
  16. I've done that..... in an mtb race... after I pulled off the jeep track so far I was riding in proper bushes.... and some guy was STILL outside my back wheel. Really not sure what else I could have done. he thought it was spit.... I probably shouldn't have told him it wasn't.
  17. oh and the number is 011 807 8495
  18. +1 bought 2 bikes from them. Great service at competitive prices. Very friendly, very helpful and will make recommendations based on your needs and wants.
  19. Running saguro front and aka rear. Very predictable grip at the back, and been fairly happy with grip on the front, but it could be better. Saguro lasting ALOT longer than the aka. Very keen to try a schwalbe combo though, but expecting it to be pricey.
  20. I think it's time that as a nation we realise that savage society (like ours currently is) cannot be governed by western law. There has to be some sort of relative punishment for violent crimes.
  21. Every day is grammar day, not just Friday!
  22. Tundra 2 for me. No issues on transbaviaans with it. Mate broke his tundra 2 in on the transbaviaans with no issues either - he used to ride sell Italia slr.
  23. The Ferris wheels look cool, wonder if you get a horizontal one that could fit under the roof of the parking. Bike lockers are a bit expensive.... and look like they would take up quite a bit of space: ( don't think we could afford to put a whole bunch of those there.... not at 25k each. What about those stands you see at some bike shops where you hang 6 or 8 bikes by the front / rear wheel from a single centre post with a guide for the lower wheel to keep it straight and a ring on the post to thread your chain through. Bear in mind the fenced area would be monitored by offsite surveillance and security, plus be restricted access where computer would apply for their access card to be granted access to the bike area.
  24. Can you ride your bike on it? Cos then it would be awesome! I don't think we'd be allowed to do something like that. Office is in melrose arch. We will probably have a few parking bays to play with. And a height restriction of about 2.7m. If it gets really popular we would look to expand it. I'm really looking to satisfy most of the excuses we would make up like, it's such a mission missing with your bike, or my bike won't be safe etc. I've never commuted as my job often involves unplanned trips out the office, but I'm trying to think of what else might be a problem which we could actually get rid of. (Obviously things like weather and distance are out of our control).
