Have you looked second hand. I bought a second hand one a few years ago (ok 10 years ago) for R2k. The thing is as solid as a brick shthouse. I wouldn't touch a Ryobi table saw.

Yup, that's the only reason I would watch it - for the scenery. Have also done loads of diving in that environment. Cringy and fluffy pretty much describes what I have heard from others

From what I've heard from people that have seen the original, the Kreepy version is better

if any of you guys are inclined towards this type of solitude, do yourself a favour and make a plan to get out into the Cederberg. There are some locals who could use the financial support that a few mountain bikers can throw their way. These areas are so remote that they don't get any regular traffic and the rely on guys like us to make a living. DM me - I'll be happy to put you in touch with the accommodation providers.
