  1. Very cool thread! I use a Seaco Poemia. Bought it 3 years ago and it was my first espresso machine. Other than the Seaco, I use my aeropress. What I have found extremely helpful is how far quality coffee beans will get you. I like buying from Legado, Espresso Lab or Rosetta.
  2. How do you okes route the RD cable? I ran it the same way the brake cable is routed, but on the drive side. Looks much neater. So it is currently going underneath the bottom bracket instead of over it en then up the downtube.
  3. Really enjoying the build. Just stuck. Need a black headset spacer and a press fit BB.
  4. Not building this Oneten for myself. Going to sell it for someone else to enjoy.
  5. Eeek. Will upload the build . Any suggestions? Dropper post and at least 120mm travel is probably a given?

  7. Good point. Change is not only going to happen, but often necessary. I don't know. I can understand why ebikes shouldn't be allowed in races with mtbs. What I don't get is the hate towards ebikes. Reminds me of res in varsity where guys cling desperately to the past as they are afraid of change and afraid that new res members will lead to less camaraderie. You don't fix change with aggression and fear. Also seems quite narcissistic if you can't tolerate ebikes on mtb trails. Ebikes are an asset to mtbing as a whole. Why? 1 - They are expensive to buy and expensive to maintain and thus help your LBS to keep their doors open 2 - Increased demand for ebikes means increasing demand for all MTBs (advertising as well as a trickle down effect whereby you ride an ebike now but might buy a mtb in the future) 3 - They are better for the planet than motorbikes or cars 4 - They have great potential to relieve congestion (already starting to realise in Europe) 5 - They can save you time (cycle to a grocery store or to work) 6 - They encourage people to get outdoors (if you have knee problems then even walking is a becomes a massive feat) 7 - They get those on the periphery of mtb'ing, into mtb'ing - if I am so overweight that I am embarrassed to jog, then an ebike will be more healthy than walking (physically and mentally) 8 - Continuing on point 5, they are good for relationships and friendships (my spouse, mother, old father or overweight friend can mtb with me) Anyway. Lets all hate on the ebikers and let them know by our attitude and banter that we really find their use of an electric bike, for transport or recreational purposes, absolutely disgraceful.
  8. I also have my eye on the new sram eagle stuff..
  9. Ja, I'm not of the opinion that a deal/trade is optimal when both parties are a bit unhappy with the terms. Surely the marketplace is more optimal if all items are priced such that both seller and buyer feel comfortable and happy with the terms. Markets are in my opinion a bit more flexible and dynamic. I already think the classifieds is correcting itself. Sellers are starting to get fed up with 50% of asking price offers, and buyers are reposting their items dropping their prices. Those who don't drop their prices are rigid and increasingly struggle to get their items sold. Psychologically, however, it is always cool thinking that you haggled on a deal and managed to get a better price than was advertised, and the seller is probably just happy he sold it.
  10. What to you mean by "I suspect a lot of bargains have been shnaaid from geniune hubbers this way."?
  11. It would be really interesting getting the opinion of very frequent traders on the classifieds such as SteveO:K, cause I really am of the opinion that trust issues, time wasters and too expensive items are not necessarily the biggest reasons for slower than usual turnaround times when selling items. It really does seem as if people are less inclined to make impulsive upgrade purchases, becoming more discerning with their disposable income and looking around for a bargain when they do decide to upgrade.
  12. That is funny enough not the case for me. I feel that some items you really can't even ask a fair second hand price. But then you get items such as shimano brakes that sell very easily at prices close to the new product. Even older shimano XT and SLX brakes sell for prices that you would have paid for the new item, 3 years ago.
  13. I agree. If I don't state "not neg" I get these sms's, "I will give you x*". *x = 50% of asking price. No name, no introduction nothing.
  14. Lately I have seen a lot of "*Price Drop*" adds on the classifieds. I also buy and sell quite a lot and find it more difficult than a few years ago to get buyers. It really seems as if South Africans are in a bit of a squeeze (the classifieds is obviously not a very good representation of the average SA consumer). Would really like to see the results on a poll, so vote!
  15. I actually like the mechanical side of cycling. Otherwise we can all be riding electric motored Di2 dual brain suspension and a dropper post going down when you start to stand. Sort of like coffee machines where you still have to push some knobs, turn a lever, clunk the coffee handle into the machine to get the coffee. Makes me feel like a man Edit should probably be quoting the other guy.
