  1. I'm with you on the hardcore hardtail but that build is maybe a bit "too much" for for that type of bike. Personally I wouldn't go much higher that XT/GX for a bike like that, but that is just me. And a steel frame as well, something like Stanton or Cotic.
  2. I read somewhere the hubs run on sealed bearings? Is this the end of cup-and-cone for Shimano?
  3. SunRingle is one of the well known brands out there but you might need to be a bit more specific with regards to your bike.
  4. Is it really going to be R100k for a frame? I’m considering a Hyrax, 140mm bike is a bit more for me.
  5. How much was delivery? I opted to go collect but I might need to get it delivered.
  6. That Magene is more expensive than the Kick Core in the DC Rainmaker review and it would have less support in a place like South Africa. Why would you buy it then? Sort of off topic but somewhat related. Chinese products (eg. cars) are becoming better and more expensive. It used to be cheaper option but I think most consumers would still rather pay a 5-10% premium for a more well known brand than a newer Chinese or even Indian one. It will be interesting to see what long term effects of this virus has on manufacturing as it sounds like lots of countries/companies are trying to bring back manufacturing.
  7. Really glad I bought a Kickr Core on sale during the lockdown but hope I can pick it up soon. I’ll have to see if I “enjoy” it but I suppose it will come in handy on those cold/wet winter days.
  8. Hi Pieter He has one of these on his bike... https://www.on-lynecomponents.com/collections/incase-link-case/products/the-incase-link-case-top-cap
  9. Impressive technology, I wonder when RockShox will launch a new Totem to counter the 38.
  10. Wonder if the paid volunteers still had to help cleaning up camps and if they still get a guaranteed entry for 2021. I still wonder how this will pan out, I get that most of the money was already spent but surely there must be something available for a riders refund. Though globally Ironman must be bleeding with all the events they have had to cancel. Service/massage packages is another difficult one, technically you bought "hours" from the vendor so they should be able to still deliver.
  11. Maybe RockShox revives the Totem, 40 mm stanchions should be plenty stiff.
  12. This was obviously supposed to be launched at the Epic. Seems like the Scott boys have been riding around with them in plain sight all along.
  13. They could have insurance in case the Government forces them to cancel. It could be tricky seeing that the "ban" on mass events only came into effect last night and they cancelled on Friday.
  14. Tough decision but maybe a bit too late. Hope the riders can do it again in 2021 with their current entries. Still alot of expenses for the organisers, participants and vendors that can't be recovered easily.
  15. Nope, Calculus is made oversees but the local guys "engineer" the bikes. You can perhaps add Silverback as a bike company and look at CSixx as well as Lyne Components who does accessories.
  16. "Interesting" new shoes from Hoka... These things look really weird. https://gearjunkie.com/hoka-one-one-tennine-running-shoe-review
  17. The tracking number can change when SAPO takes over the package. Try phoning customs at the airport and someone might be able to tell you what the "new" tracking number is.
  18. I don't think the Santa Cruz Heckler is worth the hype, the Specialized e-bikes (especially the new Levo SL) just seems so much better executed. Granted, Specialized has been in the e-bike game for a bit longer. The marketing guys at Santa Cruz must be kicking themselves that they didn't launch these bikes before Specialized...
  19. Ouch, luckily you could get sorted and no long term damage! I feel surprisingly good afterwards, suppose I had more in reserve and I'll have to see what the Krampus is capable of in 2022 (if it's still around). I do think I overcompensate on hydration and nutrition. Slight correction, I did manage to do 12 laps...
  20. Thanks to Meurant and his team for a great event and please keep us posted when the laptimes is sorted.
  21. And this launches the exact same week I buy the plug kit for my One-Up EDC...
  22. What is a Pyga Mobu? Your post is a bit cryptic...
  23. I was really impressed with the build quality when I saw this at my LBS but I have a OneUp EDC tool. My friends gave me for my birthday lives on my bike, it's very handy with a chainbreaker and spare links.
  24. Pretty sure the Hope HB.T x Lotus track bike for the Great Britain Cycling Team qualifies as one of the weirder looking bikes out there. Almost looks like it could have been a fatbike.
