  1. Far or Farr too many punctures? Sorry, its been a long day...
  2. This almost sounds like a philosophical thought experiment along the lines of: "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" I think most participants would rather do the event without spectators than not do it at all, as others have stated the logistics around race villages might be tricky one to solve.
  3. I really love riding there and wouldn't mind being able to so a bit more. The format of the event was good and it was a proper weekend with friends. We did the 30 km on Saturday and the 45 km on Sunday, as most people have said it is tough but so rewarding. Thanks to the organisers, I'll be back again in whatever format they put on the event. PS. Can we please have the option of camping at Mouton Farm?
  4. Struggling to drop weight and I've been better at skipping snacks... I'm like a diesel engine, I can go on for ever but I'm very "fuel efficient". Still trying to get to double figures by the end of the year.
  5. I do hope/think they might bring in other models, I've seen quite a few new Enduros around and it doesn't look like they are bringing them in "officially". I do wonder what is the ratio between "digital" (Levo) and "analogue" (Stumpjumper) sales locally, I suspect Levos might outsell Stumpjumpers by quite a margin. This could be a good topic for a petition...
  6. I agree and it boggles my mind as well, I would have seriously considered a mid spec aluminium Stumpjumper for my next bike but seems I have to look elsewhere. It would also be nice if they did swat on alloy bikes, Trek managed to do it for the Slash. I suspect/hope Specialized SA is sitting with plenty of current model Stumpjumper stock that they first want to clear.
  7. Eks nogals opgewonde en hoop dis 'n lekker tydskrif. Sal verseker loer op die rakke en koop. Laat weet maar waar/hoe ons bietjie stories kan deel.
  8. Not entirely sure how it works but RCC could be an option. https://www.rapha.cc/at/en/rcc/bike-hire
  9. I love my EDC Tool and I see they have launched a new version... I haven't used the chain breaker but the upgraded steel version does seem to make sense. https://www.oneupcomponents.com/products/edc-v2-tool
  10. Reviving an old thread, what is the rear axle spacing on these bikes?
  11. What is wrong with your "dream bike" that you are selling it so soon?
  12. This could have been the Bikehub version of the Grim Donut! https://www.pinkbike.com/news/video-the-grim-donut-part-2-the-right-amount-of-stupid.html I think it's about time bikehub does a "Bleek Koeksister" build.
  13. Hi Cliff I rode at Klipheuwel quite a while ago, it wasn't great but its not that bad. https://bicyclesouth.co.za/listings/klipheuwel-trail-park/
  14. It depends on what you consider close. GRTP or Witfontein might be your best bet but a bit of a drive.
  15. Can a dropper post remote work? I see Wolftooth makes a 31.8 mm clamp version and you could Evobikes.
  16. I couldn’t sleep the firts night I had my new machine, all that tasting is a lot of caffeine.
  17. I had my Kona frame welded with a plate to enforce it up a few years back, luckily the agents/Kona was willing to let me do this while I waited for a replacement frame. The toptube had a crack and it was quite a sketchy ride back home after the initial crack.
  18. I got an old Russel Hobbs Espresso machine from my dad and intend to use it at work. Any tips on getting the most out of it? Should I "temperature surf" it like my Silvia?
  19. It looks like the same frame as the current one so no massive media launches etc. Model years are becoming really weird, we have 4 months left of the year and 2021 models start selling.
  20. July was a good month! Nice to get fitter and stronger, longer days and good weather certainly helps. Now just to keep momentum and I'll hopefully be in double figures by the end of the year.
  21. It is quite expensive but I was very lucky that my friends bought it for me as a birthday present last year.
  22. I recently discovered "From The Top" by CyclingTips, really cool stories on how SRAM, Strava, Rapha, Canyon etc. got started. https://open.spotify.com/show/1jA29mWjW6Lb1Y9eiz6G5q?si=JI3GA-3nRZie3Cp9wiav1w
  23. I'm very happy with my OneUp EDC, you can either thread your steerer or put the tools in a pump. It's not the cheapest option but it's really good qaulity. https://trailtechcycles.co.za/products/oneup-edc-tool-system-no-pump https://trailtechcycles.co.za/collections/oneup-components/products/oneup-edc-top-caps-various-colours https://trailtechcycles.co.za/collections/oneup-components/products/oneup-edc-plug-pliers-kit In addition to Specialized, Bontrager (Trek) and Granite Design also make similar units. https://www.granite-design.com/stashmultitool I've seen the Granite Design stuff at Outdoor Escape in Stellenbosch. Giant also has quite a few options available for storage and Wolftooth is another option to look into.
  24. I can vouch for WTB rims, I'm on the heavier side and my i23's haven’t given me any problems in the last 5 years. Let's just hope I didn't just jinx myself.
