  1. This is probably a bit easier way to do it... https://www.lockheedmartin.com/en-us/products/sikorsky-firehawk.html Massive respect to those pilots, I thinks it’s difficult enough flying a helicopter without smoke, heat and a 4000 kg pendulum hanging below.
  2. It was just a matter of TIME before SRAM ventured into the pedal market...
  3. It's a Novatec D772SB hub and the axle length measured 137 mm, I don't how how it ended up that way but the 5 mm spacer I printed did the job and a new axle is on the way.
  4. Thanks Bobby Really good that you guys are responding to customers. I hope I can afford one of those Stumpjumpers when they land, definitely on my shortlist.
  5. Thanks, that was a good place to start. The replacement wheel could be a 135x12 so a different endcap might be what is needed. I'm printing a few different spacers to try and will go measure the frame as well as hubs.
  6. It's a 2015 Spark and by all accounts it seems to have a 142x12 axle. https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Bikes,3/Scott/Spark-910,15911
  7. One of my friends wrecked their rear wheel and bought a replacement wheel. She has a previous generation Scott Spark and it looks like the axle on the Novatec hub is 3 mm too short, can this be possible and how do we fix this? Can I buy a longer endcap for a hub and would a washer work as an interim solution? I didn’t have a vernier to measure the actual axle, will go back to confirm.
  8. Highlands Road could possibly work for you. It starts just after Peregrine Farm Stall (be sure to grab a pie and apple juice) and goes al the way to the R44 close to Arabella. It's a public road and some of it is gravel.
  9. My suggestion would be start with a proper Jonkershoek ride and then go explore some of the other trails in our area. 1. Climb up with Irish, come down with Armageddon. 2. Take a left once you get to the bottom of Armageddon and ride the Circle Route to Bosluis, ride up Bosluis and hook a left to go up to the firehut, continue on the fireroad and take the first left to go up to Firehut to ride back down from there. 3. If you still have some legs left, climb back up with Irish, take a right when you get to the contour road and head up to the start of Red Phoenix to ride back down from there.
  10. Really nice look and some inspiration. I might need to do the same, the replacement frame I received has really crap paint that will need to be removed.
  11. That looks like Eselsfontein.
  12. Good idea, will do.
  13. Pretty please... https://www.easybike.co.za/garmin-fenix-6x-sapphire-carbon-gray-dlc-with-black-band.html
  14. Reviving an old thread... A friend recently gave me a 705 that needed a new battery. I started looking into replacements and wasn't keen on importing a battery and going through all the hassles so I replaced the battery with similar item from Communica. We did have to do some soldering and figure out how the pins connect but it booted up. https://www.communica.co.za/products/li-poly-battery-3-7v-1100mah I might loose out on some battery life but at R160 and with a bit of work, I have a 705 running.
  15. That looks really good but it looks like you need a Fizik saddle. New EDC Lite from OneUp also looks like an elegant solution. https://www.oneupcomponents.com/products/edc-lite-tool
  16. Far or Farr too many punctures? Sorry, its been a long day...
  17. This almost sounds like a philosophical thought experiment along the lines of: "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" I think most participants would rather do the event without spectators than not do it at all, as others have stated the logistics around race villages might be tricky one to solve.
  18. I really love riding there and wouldn't mind being able to so a bit more. The format of the event was good and it was a proper weekend with friends. We did the 30 km on Saturday and the 45 km on Sunday, as most people have said it is tough but so rewarding. Thanks to the organisers, I'll be back again in whatever format they put on the event. PS. Can we please have the option of camping at Mouton Farm?
  19. Struggling to drop weight and I've been better at skipping snacks... I'm like a diesel engine, I can go on for ever but I'm very "fuel efficient". Still trying to get to double figures by the end of the year.
  20. I do hope/think they might bring in other models, I've seen quite a few new Enduros around and it doesn't look like they are bringing them in "officially". I do wonder what is the ratio between "digital" (Levo) and "analogue" (Stumpjumper) sales locally, I suspect Levos might outsell Stumpjumpers by quite a margin. This could be a good topic for a petition...
  21. I agree and it boggles my mind as well, I would have seriously considered a mid spec aluminium Stumpjumper for my next bike but seems I have to look elsewhere. It would also be nice if they did swat on alloy bikes, Trek managed to do it for the Slash. I suspect/hope Specialized SA is sitting with plenty of current model Stumpjumper stock that they first want to clear.
  22. Eks nogals opgewonde en hoop dis 'n lekker tydskrif. Sal verseker loer op die rakke en koop. Laat weet maar waar/hoe ons bietjie stories kan deel.
  23. Not entirely sure how it works but RCC could be an option. https://www.rapha.cc/at/en/rcc/bike-hire
  24. I love my EDC Tool and I see they have launched a new version... I haven't used the chain breaker but the upgraded steel version does seem to make sense. https://www.oneupcomponents.com/products/edc-v2-tool
  25. Is that a "Muishond" I spot...
