  1. Odd that we aren't getting AnthemX's, it looks like more versatile bike for the "average Joe".
  2. I bought a previous generation Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 towards the end of last year and it's nice to explore a bit wider than I would with the mountainbike. I still need to take it on a proper gravel ride but the few little pieces I've managed to squeeze in hasn't been too bad, might be worthwhile swopping the current 40 mm tires for some 45 mm's... Quite happy with my purchase, the bike was still in a very good condition. I'll mostly be riding tar so it feels like 2x could work well.
  3. Also really interested in seeing his ads... Some of these “dealers” seem to slap together bikes with random parts just lying around. Some of these bike has repaired or poorly resprayed frames and could be a ticking timebomb to an unsuspecting buyer. One of these “dealers” even advertised a bike as a name brand because it “looked like” it and I should have just reported him instead of trying to help. Thanks @Nick and your team Bikehub is still a nice platform.
  4. @LukeForce, if you think it's hard to sell a second hand Mountain Bike try selling an old "new" Mountain Bike... Some suppliers sit with old stock for premium brands and they are perhaps worse off. Those sales Trek, Specialized etc. had was really good and was at least the "current" (at the time) bikes, some of these "new" bikes is a few years old by now and even got some upgrades to make them more current. I usually try to buy a new previous season bike, ride it for very long with few upgrades along the way and just accept it will have very little second hand value in the end. I also think people "over value" their second hand bikes (actually most second hand items...) and it usually just ends up selling for what the market is willing to pay for it.
  5. The Zwift cog comes with a “Shifter” that enables virtual shifting. It might look like a singlespeed but it has 24 “gears”.
  6. How long is a stick? Sorry, without any more details it's a big guess...
  7. I just haven’t sold anything in a while..
  8. Willing buyer, willing seller… There is sometimes “really bad” bikes for purchase on Bikehub (and Marketplace) at very “ambitious” prices. It really looks like some sellers just throw together random parts (sometimes even a frame they had fixed) and push their luck. I doubt they would offer any guarantee on these bikes and it’s a pity unsuspecting buyers can’t be warned. At least Bikehud doesn’t have “Is this available?”.
  9. I also have a previousl generation Top Fuel and mine came with a 130mm Pike. Very happy with the bike and if I had to nitpick an extra waterbottle cage could be nice… Really great all rounder for the trails I like to ride.
  10. Really glad I bought the Top Fuel with a 130mm Pike and not a 120mm Sid as standard. I’m far (almost two times 😬) from a 60kg racing snake…
  11. I wonder if that price gets you a mechanic that flies in to fix punctures with a barista to make coffee while you wait? I wonder how many people will sign up for this “gracious” offer? I really hope some sanity prevails…
  12. Jeepers! Lourensford has some nice trails but this ridiculous. Luckily I don't think I'll ride there enough to not qualify as a guest. .
  13. Or a gravel bike with some MTB (2.1) tires... But it think it mostly depends on the current condition of the roads.
  14. Haven't done K2C in years and wasn't fit enough but I enjoyed/suffered through it and I was really happy to have suspension on the downhills. Took it real easy, stopped often and even helped out with a few mechanicals. We were very lucky with the weather. I rode quite far back so there was alot of e-bikes passing us, wonder if some of them ran out of battery? As always a nice race, I'll (hopefully a fitter and leaner version) be back!
  15. I know it's a Friday so here we go... Terms like "Bargain", "Deal", "Massive Discount", etc. etc. is very objective and I don't think they add value in adverts. The reason you are discounting your very expensive old bike is the fact that it is not selling for the price you think it is worth, you are not selling it for a discount. Rant over, have a great weekend.
  16. Yes, 130F/120R would be amazing. The Epic 8 Evo is specced like that.
  17. Nice bike and good to see big companies still trying to deliver better "cheaper" bikes. I wonder if they will do a Chisel Evo?
  18. My 2007 Kona Explosif. Just a really nice bike that rode amazing. It snapped on the top tube one day and I had it fixed with a "patch" while I had to wait for a replacement frame. That frame eventually outlived the replacement frame and broke on the chainstay many years later. So much fond memories on that bike. Those wheels do look so small today...

    Event question

I did Lindani very long ago and it was great!
  20. The Marin Wolf Ridge is another serious contender.
  21. As a >100kg cyclist myself I wish/hope I'm running at a deficit to become a <100kg cyclist... This is obviously not working for me
  22. @Pandatron, you have some reprimanding to do...
  23. Frustrating and seems to be a more common occurrence/higher risk when buying online... I bought sunglasses that arrived broken and another item had parts missing, I was refunded both times but still a major waste of time. Takealot won't accept returns immediately at their pickup points so you have to log a return and go back at a later stage. Hope you the issue sorted, "die wiel draai'... Part of me wishes you can charge for the time/effort spent on issues like this (and answering telemarketing calls).
  24. Use Bikehub pay... The small amount of commission is worth it.
  25. Items arrived and delivered to my work by a courier. Using them in the back of a bakkie, my previous mounts was higher from the baseplate than these and they have more axle adaptors. Quite a bit cheaper than Holdfast and if it can work for you it might be an option.
