    New Road Hubs

Awesome advice, thanks guys. I was on the brink of buying new hubs, and never realised they needed to be spoke and rim specific . I will definitely then rather save up some more money and later buy better wheels - hubs and all included. To be honest, the Fulcrum 6's are real comfortable, and really roles well, so I must perhaps just let this upgrade-itch pass this month...
  3. Hi Guys I have a noob question, which I can't seem to find the answer for on the Hub or Google, for that matter. I was just wondering if it is worth spending about more or less 1500 Randelas on a pair of road hubs? Do they really make as big a difference as on a MTB? Should state that I currently have the Fulcrum Racing 6 wheels on my road bike (Racing 7 rims with Racing 5 hubs, made for Specialized), and they feel real decent. I'm just itching for an upgrade or two, and have been wondering about hubs. Thanks in advance
  4. Eish, hope you recover soon!

  6. Thanks for that info, Dif-C. Don't think I'll complain to soon again. Never realised it was thet expensive!

  9. Thanks for all the advise!
  10. Awesome advise, thanks. How do you inflate your tyres? At the garage, etc? My tyres needed to be inflated almost weekly, so either my LBS didn't seal them as well as the could have, or can that be normal?
  11. Yeah, you def have a point there. Was quite surprised when I found it. What other way is best to inflate those thin valves on the trails with then? A little hand pump suurely wont work?
  12. Sorry for the bad spelling above - typing on my mobile phone here :-)
  13. My valve broke over the weekend, and as I pulled the tyre from the rim to insert a tube (only option I had) I also found the sam "rock" in my tyre. There was still looaads of luquid sealin in there though. Can it be that the bomb caused it when I tried to inflate the tyre? I use Stans
  14. Haha, you think some guys will get custom plates? Ricky Rocket - WP
  15. Its all about the diet. I once read somewhere that some or other famous fitness guy or athlete or someone said: "Abs are made in the kitchen". Sounds as if it could be true, right. You will sometimes see accomplished, long distance triathletes who still has some flab around the belly. How does your diet look? And then, of course, there are genetics. Not much we can do there - although it kind off sounds like you have good genes, so it should be cool.
  16. So so sad. Condolences to the family
  17. Thankx Robox, some very useful info. One question - where should I go look for the tri suits/wetsuits? Good brands, competitive prices, etc? And how much can one expect to spend on a good quality product, that will last (obviously not the best in the range, etc)? Thanks again

  19. Road: extra tube(s), multi tool, bombs, adaptor, link, extra seat post clamp (got it with the bike), tyre lever, patches. MTB: bombs, adaptor, tyre levers, multi tool, links, plugs, extra tube (just for in case), cable ties. Need to remember to buy a lekker strong tape thou.
  20. Thank you guys for all the replies. I really appreciate it. Think I have to sit down and see what it is that I need, and then make up my mind. Thanks again!
  21. thanks!
  22. I see CWC has this on special: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/icetoolz-pronto-toolbox. Now I would appreciate some advice: is this all the tools (or most of them) that I will need to maintain and service my bikes? And is the price any good? Thanks!!
  23. All the best!
  24. Will definitely be joining...only in January though
  25. Ok, lets have a look: For that budget you will have to look at a good condition frame, Shimano Tiagra groupset and some decent wheels. Shouldn't be hard to find though. The first three options you posted looks best, especially taht Fuji. Good looking frame, solid wheels, 105 RD and Tiagra for the rest. Looks like a good buy, and I'm sure you can get him down a couple of bucks as well. Just make sure about the size - maybe go to your local bike shop and just let them have a look at what size will fit you best. Just make sure whether the pedals are included or not. That can be another R300-R500. And keep in mind your road shoes - you can use your MTB shoes, but have a look at the pedals and whether your cleats will fit. Just a thought. Otherwise, both the Schwinns looks really nice as well. I'm sure they're decent bikes. I would advise you have a look at the bike before you buy it though. Maybe take someone along who knows where to check the frame for cracks, wear and tear, etc. Or if the seller is far from home I guess you an ask him to take the bike to a bike shop and ask them to call you after they checked it out, or something. Hope this helped.
