  1. Gwin didn't wear Specialized kit, he was on TLD.
  2. Much like this looks like a car dealership? http://static4.businessinsider.com/image/55a8189a371d22a40e8b6fad-1024-512/6668676929_56bfbc9228_b.jpg
  3. Exactly this. Plus bikes are great for park riding with uplift facilities (and a little bit of climbing thrown in between that), but they're not going to beat a properly set up "normal" wheel width for the kind of riding most people do on a daily basis.
  4. Haha, I have to sheepishly admit that colour coordination is a constant first-world conundrum for me... The bike's gone from: Standard stealth black rim setup, with the Pike blank: To cyan rim decals with blank Pike: To a completely clashing Fox 36 scheme: Right now, the rim decals have come off again because they were totally ruined at EzelEnduro, so I'm back to stealth. Feels like something is missing, so will likely slap some on again. The problem is I only have standard yellow and red Roval sets left. What to do...
  5. Nah, I think that would still be too easy in comparison.
  6. They're specifically wider to fit over a pair of glasses (without which this rider can't see), with the added benefit of the straps aligning straighter with the sides of the helmet so they're also more comfortable. Do you think lycra doesn't look stupid?
  7. Thanks! You'd chuckle if you saw that my socks and laces also match...
  8. Handlebars can be a touchy subject. These days, everyone's on the "wider is most definitely better" bandwagon, with even marathon riders being advised to ditch their long stems and narrow bars for setups which sit as close as possible to the steerer and create as much leverage as possible to (man)handle the front wheel. 9. Okay, so I have it narrowed down to this puppy: https://za.jura.com/en/professional/machines/IMPRESSA-XS9-Classic-EU-13664 Going to have a look (and taste) next week and will then make the call. It's ridiculous, but over the next 36 months this change will likely translate into a R40k/year cost saving with servicing factored in, even though it costs R22k! Nuts.
  10. Nah, I reckon it's a Strava glitch. Dale's quick, but I don't think it's humanly possible to get to 73km/h on that section!
  11. Was a great day out.The flat bit in SS2 was a killer, no wonder Gert Heyns opened up an almost 10sec gap on the rest of the field there!
  12. The fact that the Honda has higher service intervals aside, are you of the opinion that it's supposed to be cheaper to service a fork on a mountain bike than on a motorbike?
  13. Thanks guys, good points to bear in mind.
  14. I've kinda been watching this thread, but haven't had time to read through the whole thing in detail, so sorry if I'm doing the usual rehashing we're all known for around here... We've been running a Nespresso Citiz (with built in frother) at the office for the last 2 years. We're just over 20 people, and go through close to 30 pods per day. When our bean counter got around to doing the math, we realised that we use around R50k worth of pods per year. Yip, that's not a typo. So I'm thinking, what the hell, let's get a proper all-in-one instead. I'm looking at the Saeco Aulika, does anyone have any experience with it? Also, what kind of cup yield do you reckon I should be expecting per kg of beans?
  15. Ooooh, yes! Now I remember! Haha. Nice whips there!
  16. Nope, still doesn't ring any bells...
  17. Who is this Duane guy? I see he only has 9 posts...
  18. I'd say the stiffness factor outweighs (pardon the pun) the weight factor when one really looks at the value offered by a carbon wheelset. I run these, which happen to weigh only slightly less than a set of alloy Havens (which aren't heavy by standards, but just for example). Yes, it's cool that they're a contributing factor to my bike weighing in at 12.6kg even though it's a 155/160mm beast, but I don't think that makes them worth the eye-watering cost. It's the stiffness which sets them apart. Once you realise that when you pick a line into super-gnarly stuff, your line simply sticks, you begin to appreciate them.
  19. Nico, you forgot about the obligatory clip-on full-face. It's really unsafe to ride any trails without a #full-face.
  20. Yes! I used to run them with stickers underneath for the cool factor.
  21. That is a seriously nice setup. Enjoy it!
  22. Seriously?
