  1. This is just IMO In my personal experience, this does not apply to the home mechanic. I am all for torquing bolts where it matters like for super light weight carbon components ie. AX lightness, Schmolke, Forks, Shocks etc. But stems, shifters, brakes, cranks, pedals, etc I don't have the time and when you do it 100 times a day you get a built in torque wrench in your wrist, It also helps when your strength maxes out at about 40Nm Looking at that PDF, 35Nm for pedal shafts After a few years you will never get that shaft out the crank. I generally use a "T" bar and just wrist tight and have never had a pedal come loose. Also I would like to see someone tighten KCNC stem bolts to there recommended torque 5Nm on a carbon steerer tube even with fiber grip and then go for a ride trough a rock garden. Your bars will end up in the same direction as the wheel and you will have unexpectedly bought some property.
  2. 90% of bikes come pre cut to a degree. Generally this still gives a lot of adjustment but I have noticed that Spez have less than most. As for the reasons, I can only assume less spacers to ship with and most bikes come semi built so because the fork is installed it allows the bike box to be smaller if they cut the steerer. And add that small difference up over thousands of bikes and there is a difference. I think it also makes assembly easier for the shops.

    Looks like the firecrest version.
  4. Yip. That's what I gathered. That salary here is good but over there the cost of living is in a different league.
  5. Hi Guys, A friend who is currently working over in Dubai has let me know that they are looking for retail sales staff. It is an extremely fast passed environment and probably one of the busiest bike shops in the world as they sold 31 bikes yesterday and these are not your average cheapies. PM me for more details.
  6. You must have come back from France with a degree in Pedology
  7. I have done the trick of putting the battery in upside down/backwards which most of the time also resets watches/computers/HRM's, etc don't know if this is because it short circuited.
  8. Not sure but will see if i can fine out from the supplier for you.
  9. That's face ploughing, the planting comes next.
  10. I need this for my current S5 but $400 is going to hurt.
  11. Gorilla Tape for the win. It comes standard with Evne carbon rims so you know it has to be good stuff.
  12. Don't wont to look stupid here but being a hartail XC race-snake might have something to do with it. In which direction are these meant to be jumped? I would say right to left but then the (table) part of the jump is up hill wheres I would rather have it sloping down and then have the lip of the landing below the lip of the take-off? Edit: That trail is giving me goose bumps!!!
  13. I don't carry or own, but am seriously thinking about it as there have been 2 bike jacking's in the last 3 weeks within 2km's of where I live and regularly train. If i did I would consider something like this. As a side note, if you are confronted whilst riding and the person trying to rob you of your bike, phone, etc is armed with something that could be seen as a deadly weapon then I gather you have the right to use deadly force. But if you draw and they decide to turn and run then what can you do? As far as I know nothing except for let them get away and live free to try again the next day. This also goes for if you and your bike somehow get separated and the individual decides to make off with your bike what are you legally allowed to do? I gather smile and wave good bye to your bike.
  14. Head Tube looks way to short. IMO
  15. Have had them on my MTB for over a year now at OCP4 and after getting used to them I could feel a big different in seated climbing especially on the longer climbs. They also help with maintaining momentum up a climb as you don't have that dead spot and can thus keep your cadence consent for longer(IMO) but now I'm so used to them that my legs think it normal. Front derailleur setup is extremely important in order to keep the chain on over high speed rough terrain and a clutch derailleur help a lot. Edit: I did read some where that the advantage over standard rings was about 2% (not sure you can prove this). I also find they help me knees as I have pretty much no cartilage in the one joint after an injury as a kid and playing way to much hockey on an astro.
  16. Cycle Lab have some big discounts on bikes http://viewer.zmags....6ab#/e87cd6ab/4
  17. Not sure if this applies to this situation. In our local races the shorter distance prizes are only awarded to the age category deemed to be racing that event. i.e.(u14=15km, u16=20km, u18=40km, etc) I guess this stops the adults steeling the kids prizes and taking the intensive away.
  18. I can fill the Race Snake category.
  19. ALS challenge
  20. That is terrible news. Apparently she over cooked one of the wooden A-frame track crossing things and went OTB. I don't even want to think about the head/neck injuries that could have been possible.
  21. These guy's make it look so easy. and in the wet nogal. (One Day) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOOMoKL7KQE&feature=player_detailpage
  22. On second thoughts, Surely he didn't do those drops on a Trance?
  23. Looks a lot bigger in that pic than in the vids. Vids and pics never do terrain justice.
