  1. Well he is an avid Noam Chomsky reader. Make of that what you will...
  2. Not even denying the fact that my reaction is entirely irrational and driven by emotion. So what. We're allowed to be irrational about some things in life. At least I'm honest about that. Which is more than can be said for many on here. Opportunity to ride and enjoy the trails? Why, was he incapable before? That whole argument is stillborn and frankly disengenuous.
  3. Did they give you an indication what replacement batteries will cost? Also, ever consider a spin bike to get fitter so that you could join your purist buddies on those bigger rides? Finally, and yes I'm intruding in your space and I have no right to ask this, but I'm genuinely wondering, why do you ride mountain bikes? What will you feel at the end of that first big ride with your mates who did the same ride but busted their asses to get up to the climbs? Please don't see my questions as masking some other agenda. I'm openly against e-bikes because I believe they are just another step in the devolution of man in pursuit of instant gratficiation without putting in the hard yards. But I'd love to see whether my attitude is misplaced. The one thing that is bothering me in particular is the frequency with which the "disabled, old or unhelathy people will benefit most from this" trope is bandied about, but when I go on to instagram all I see are either professional riders (obviously paid by their respective sponsors to fawn over these bikes) or otherwise perfectly healthy, but unfit (or in some cases hyper fit, but also affilliated with the relevant brand) people on these saying how awesome they are because now they can go further, faster. Well sh*t...
  4. I forgot there's this leper colony on the hub... My new sled:
  5. My HD's did the same thing
  6. I reckon if you keep riding honest bikes chances are you won't need to buy one at 65. Plenty of pinners around qualifying for pensioner discounts.
  7. Instant gratification comes to mind. The "I want it NOW and I ain't working for it" generation.
  8. Right, now that I've made my position clear let me add this: The Levo is without a doubt the best looking, and from what I've heard, best executed, iterations of the e-bike genre. I reckon this will be great for event photographers that struggle to get to the sharp end of the race to get the shots - especially the EWS guys (although I reckon Sven Martin will glass you if you give him this to ride).
  9. That must be one of the nicest looking motorbikes I've ever seen. I wonder if Specialized also make mountain bikes. (Spare me the "It's not a motorbike, it's a pedal-assist bike" BS. It has a motor. It's a bike.) Something to think about though: When we go riding, how often do we go riding alone? Most of the time we ride with friends, because this is after all a social endeavour. So if you're the one t*sser that rocks up with your luigat fiets so that you can session Jonkers 10 times, what are your mates going to do, assuming they weren't all dumb enough to spend money on this? They're going to carry on as normal and wait for you at the coffee shop I guess. So this bike should really come with a disclaimer - please be aware that riding this bike will result in mostly solo rides, unless you can find an e-bike support group somewhere.
  10. I don't know. Whichever ones don't make my bike look like a fat bike?
  11. As soon as the rubber on my new bike goes, I'm fitting some 2.4's on to see what all this wider blah-blah is about. Have 30mm rims now, but with the stock OEM 2.3's on atm. As for 27.5+? If I wanted a bouncy castle I'd phone a kids party planner.
  12. Meh. I think as long as XCO racers are smashing WC courses on those bikes of theirs, this discussion is moot.
  13. Yoann Barelli. Just sayin.
  14. Sorry to derail the thread, but on your CCDB InLine, do you have the new blue dustwiper or still black?
  15. Ja but I was being serious. These jumps are friggin massive, so why no big rigs? Or are the FEST series jumps really just even bigger?
  16. Oh and I wanted to ask, how do these jumps differ from the stuff at the FEST series? Smaller / bigger / same? Because at FEST everyone is on big rigs, but here they seem to prefer slopestyle sleds? For why (except contrived bar spins into can-can flip 360's - yes, I hate slopestyle ok?)?
  17. Yari. Be a man.
  18. Well then they should just call it the "Best 650b trail bike" if you're going to exclude literally 60% of the trail bike market, which includes some obvious contenders for a win (Following, Stumpy etc). Embarrassing quite frankly.
  19. Why the hell would they not use the 29'er Stumpy when that's obviously the most popular in the Stumpy lineup?
  20. You'd be surprised at how many frames crack whilst "just riding along a dirt road"
  21. I reckon it's time for a bit more bike! Seeing as you're no longer in marathon central.
