Late to the Party, but decided to take up the Trail/AM challenge:
Taking her out for her maiden voyage to Hoogies bike park tomorrow...
- Momsen ST-R Large
- Rockshock Revelation 130mm Fork RCT3
- Custom Wheels with Rapide 30mm rims, Zee Rear and SLX front Hubs
- Shimano Zee 1x10 Drivetrain 32t oval with 11-36t XTR Cassette
- Maxxis Ardent 29x2.4" skinwalls, no clearance issues at the rear at all
- SLX Crankset
- Lyne 170mm Dropper with Specialized Henge Seat
- Rapide 35mm bore, 35mm stem, 25mm Riser Bars, ODI Rogue grips, SLX Brakes
Any update? I'm considering a similar fork, but rather 120mm.
My dream-machine..
Which I'll sadly put up for sale later today

Very mooi! Frame size? What you expecting?
Camp sites?
Can the family tag along?
I've got a pair of flats, really enjoying them so far. It's been about 4months using them now I think. Cannot compare to many, I only had 2fo's before. These look the business
Correct
So.... Can I get them locally... or made perhaps? Or bought perhaps? Or should I just go CRC.
I tried a few nuts and bolts places but nobody could assist.
Are these the ones you are looking for?

Correct
I got nukeproof neutron evo. Lost an end cap. Are there local nukeproof guys in Cape Town perhaps?
I mean did you see Lombardi corner on SS3, seriously.. not even a gshhh or a gshhh, in this corner, then that corner. Seriously. Was good to see how it's supposed to be done. No Bup-bup-bup-braking-bumps! Lol
You worried about stage 2?
:-) naah, want a cornering clinic.
@iride did you get my e-mail?
I think those jumps need to be looked at TBH. The speed at which you hit them at doesn't correlate with the angle of the lips. By the time people got there they were pretty poked. I'm actually surprised more people didn't end themselves.
There were a few bits on stage two that were also a bit bucky. But maybe that's just me.
Aaaaand Que the "learn to ride properly" chirps from everyone.
Not that I know how to squash a jump, but ss2 stuff should be squashed. I don't think they were built to be jumped, at least that's what I was told. Launching there, and yoh could end up ending yourself.
Curious to know how do you expect to lower the entry fees if you capped this event at 200 entrants?
Good question!
I suppose if the thought was only to cater for 200 then that's fine (Not like we've seen an Enduro here in CT with that many riders yet).
Initial capital needs to cover mos. So maybe they could only budget on materials and equipment for 200 riders now.
Is that chicken line on the main hoogies line gonna be open, dunno what's that corner called, but it's like a drop into a left corner..
Then further down there's that rock gap thingy on the right. Or chicken on left.. is that open?
What's the latest I can book/signup? I'm trying to juggle many things around at the moment and don't want to book a spot until I'm 100% sure, but also don't want to miss out.
Same boat for me
Check out our tongue in cheek (but informative) instructional video of bikes to bring, gear to wear, how the timing system works and race etiquette here.
Very good video. Thanks.
please keep me posted RE your thoughts ... I may be seriously considering one with a 120, maybe 130mm fork and some lekker wheels with dik takkies as a fun trail ripping 29'er HT that can also swing SS
Well as per the previous post, it is a very playful bike. Seriously. I think the geometry is slightly too big for me (medium, thinking a small would do better) and on the descents I really enjoy it. I'm talking single track hey, not keep track as I'm scared on jeep track.
By the way mine is rigid too. If I recall correctly Mr Momsen told me that the bike was designed around a 120mm 34mm dia suspension fork, and very capable with a 130mm too. So that's why I was thinking a 140mm would be ideal. But ya, that's gonna cost some money which I don't have.
Just wondering if anyone has done this. Rear tyre cannot go wider than a 2.3. Front you can do what you want.
Geo is nice.

Thanks, very useful!
Really wonder how the bike performs with a suspension fork, and the right fork is key.
So you push the bike down some technical trails yes? That's why you considering the pike? Or is it just for stiffness purposes?
