  1. You can ride Crank Brother Candy's with tackies, but not Crank Brother Eggbeaters. I prefer Candy's / eggbeaters over Shimano
  2. You must speak to Steel Niner. He has played around with various combinations on his Single Speed
  3. I am running Geax Saguaro's 2.25 front and back. I have had no problems with them. They are not UST but I have converted them to tubeless. I run them at 1.9 in front and 2.1 at the back and have not had one failure.
  4. Nice one Rock. I am waiting for Kiwi's stock of white American Classice wheels to arrive before I post my black monster as well. Do you still have your SS or are you just going to use this for riding?
  5. So 20niner. Let me get this straight. When you change the frame, the only parts left from the orginal bike is the headset and fork. I hope the heaset says Giant XTC on it so that you can convince your wife its stil the same bike, just with a few upgrades on it.
  6. Hi Mutt. Also a good price, the ones that was advertised on the hub are the Carbon ones
  7. Dealer1 had some brand new Avid Elixir CR Carbon brakes for R2500. I am very happy with mine
  8. My Scandal 29er Single speed weighs about 9.7kg and my geared Scandal 29er with "Squishy fork" weighs about 11.4kg SteveS2010-01-26 03:28:46
  9. My LBS built me up a MTB from parts I gave him. When I picked the bike up on Friday, he said ride it over the weekend and then if anything is not right bring it back on Monday to be sorted out. I am sure the LBS will sort all the problems out without any hassles. If they give you attitude, well then they are no good.
  10. Colonel Your point would have merit if 5000+ guys rode the mx race and not 50
  11. Hi Kiwi I saw it on your website. How does it compare with Stans, Dr Sludge et al?
  12. Hi Kiwi Very nice. Cool pics. Are those American Classic wheels still on schedule for the end of the month? I see you got some Continental 29er Race Kings in stock. Please reserve me two for the AC wheels. THanks
  13. Wow thats a thing of beauty. That will surely drop the bike below 10kg
  14. Brianj My order is in the same batch as yours. At last, just hope it doesn't get stuck at customs as well!!

    29er Wheels

I am using custom yellow saddle built wheels consisting of ZTR 355 rims and Shimano SLX 29er specific hubs on my SS. At the end of January Cape Cycles and Planet X will have the new American Classic UST wheels in white. They will be good value for money. I have ordered a pair for my geared Scandal 29er. The XT's are good value but I have not seen them locally. You can get from CRC for about R4000.00 but the sell out like hot cakes. The big daddy of the 29er wheels are the Mavic C29ssmax wheels. They are available locally but they are going to be expensive (they cost almost R7000 on CRC) so locally the price is going to hurt.
  16. This must be one of the best looking Hardtails I have ever seen. This is an awsome machine. Where did you get the wheelset from?
  17. Hi I had the same issue. Apparently there is a glitch with their system. After e-mailing them they sent me a response with the correct parcel force trackinfg info. The Items were processed on the 30th and I am expecting my delivery in JHB on Friday
  18. What you can do is go to the item you want in CRC and if you have an account click on the "request stock alert" and they will e-mail you as soon as it becomes available
  19. Hi Rock. Nice set-up. I am also building up my second scandal 29er. This one will be geared and with suspension fork. Cape Cycles are getting the new white tubeless ready America Classic wheels in at the end of January with a suggested retail of R5300. Kiwi will also have them in stock then. Look out for the XT wheelsets on CRC they usually go for about R 3500 a pair ex Vat. But they sell like hot cakes, Why did you go for the RST fork and not the Rock shox Reba that Kiwi is selling?
  20. Hi Chris Will you be getting any of these in stock? Mavic C29ssmax Disc 6-Bolt Wheels 2010
  21. I have the ZTR 355 29er's. So far I am very happy with them.
  22. Did anyone wonder why they can afford to give R15000 back? Well here is the answer R977 x 60 = R59000 less R 11,005 = R47995. You do the math
  23. Little Ben is spoton. Just replace the XT dual with XT brake levers and X9 or X0 rear Derailleur and you are sorted http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=27805
  24. Hi Slowbee I am sure the Raceface includes a BB ? All 2008 Race Face XC cranksets feature our new 'EXI' interface external bottom bracket system for easier crank installation and removal with standard tools and fully adjustable chainline. But in any case. I don't believe that XT cranks are made just for lightweight riders (maybe XTR). XT cranks must be the most popular cranks on MTB's. Look at any race and it like every second person has one. I am sure if there were issues with their strength and durability it would have been posted on the hub already
  25. Hi Slowbee I see that CRC has a special on the Race face Deus XC 2009 models. You can get the black Race Face XC for R 1577 excl 15.4%, much better than R2800!
