  1. Lay two ropes on the ground about single track width. Add curves and bend, if you have a slope you can make switchbacks as well. Scaffold planks and the big cement bricks can also make raised sections, ramps, drop offs. Berms I am afraid will involve some earth works.
  2. Looks about normal. Not everyone will accept the Cannondale and the SC has a wider appeal. I ride a flash at the moment and it has been a fantastic bike. I have my eye on the scalpel carbon three but feel the new bikes are priced too high.
  3. Use paint stripper, apply stripper and cover with a plastic bin liner for a while. much easier process. As for MDF I have used sanding sealer, just check you can paint on top of it as I have only followed with a varnish.
  4. Dstv shows women's from 11 to 1. When is the men's?
  5. Reading this thread is quite inspiring. I want not for tools or space. I have built my collection over the years and now have wonderful tools. My table saw, band saw and edge jointer are The green Electra Beckum made in W Germany, kitty spindle molder, an industrial 15 inch planer, dewald radial arm saw, wood lathe as well. My sash clamps are all record. Vises are record. My dedicated mitre saw is an industrial Makita. I like Festool hand tools and I have managed to gather the router (love it) 3 different sanders and my cordless drill/ screwdriver, and lastly the jigsaw. Big compressor as well. My great grandfather was a cabinet maker and I have his work chest in the workshop. Have not really looked through it as old tools don't really appeal. Despite all my effort in getting my tools, I don't use them. My wife likes this furniture that looks rough and unfinished, gaps in the table top, doors that don't fit, smudged paint effects. I can't do it. Square and well finished are what I like to build. Any how I need to look on indescribables for some ideas and make something. Last thing I made was my reloading bench.
  6. That looks friendlier than the cascades course. I was humbled when I rode that a few weeks ago. Is that the case or is the camera flattening things out?
  7. I have the same wheelset. I strip when replacing bearings obviously but I use a fairly thick waterproof grease. No issues with engagement. I have about 2500km on the wheelset, 3 bearing changes so far.
  8. Huub make a good one I have my eye on. Contact T3 multi sports. The sleeve also makes sense to me.
  9. Enduro bearings are distributed by a crowd in PMB. Will only supply bike shops. I would buy from bearing man if I could but they cannot get me cannondale headset bearings and the bike shop wants over R300 each. Enduro bearings are good though but I would prefer to be able to get direct.
  10. Mordin is the bolt a special item. What about replacing bolt and bearing. With tapping, heating and clamping, perhaps cut your loss and replace the bolt whilst you have it all apart, re assemble with copperslip but I think you know that last bit.
  11. HI there. The race is the race with the other days more orientated to the experience. They listed top three as you pointed out, yet once the race began the news feed included top ten. Top three women and top three mixed. I think the organizers are spot on with sticking to top three overall in trail and adventure. In my opinion the only reason sponsored teams are riding the trail and adventure is because they know they won't place in the actual race.
  12. Thanks guys. Individual road TT appeals to me so that might be the smarter choice. Not as clear cut as I imagined.
  13. Fan in front. Aircon top left. I love my rollers. Video is trail seeker on Vimeo. Recommended.
  14. Hi there. Working towards ironman 2018. Currently ride a MTB. Farmer so road bike is out. I am researching bikes for ironman and I cannot get a clear explanation as to TT vs Tri bikes. I get the geometry is different, I get that the aero advantage is lost If one has to sit up occasionally, I understand the targeting of different muscle groups to aid the legs in the run. From what I understand the TT bike expects you to be 5 seconds away from a heart atack and needing oxygen if you have ridden it properly, when you have finished a TT. The Tri bike expects you to get off and run a marathon. What I don't understand is the number of TT bikes I see advertised as Tri bikes. A few manufacturers list the bikes as TT/Tri. What I am asking is, is the distinction important? Thanks Ryan.
  15. Just got quoted R600 for two headset bearings for my Flash. Ouch. Can't ride until I replace them, I was not aware lube would help as I thought they were sealed units. Will try to lube them and see how long this set lasts.

You still have time. Swop your front tyre out at least. Even dry I would not ride crossmark front.
  17. I rode the course on Friday in the heat. Loose over hard conditions. I thought it was the most technical course I had ever ridden. The climbs were brutal and the decents were so challenging. I cannot imagine going out there in the wet. I was a spectator on Saturday. Much respect to the racers!
  18. According to the rules...... Bikes on the roof have to cost more than the car, towbar is your only option. Buy Thule
  19. I have the 510 and it's been a fantastic unit. Has not let me down ever. I would happily upgrade to the 520.
