Yeah that looks like DH3 and it would be a bit daft to try and work your way up there, once someone is committed to riding down that there really is very little they can do to avoid an ascending rider.

It was a stab at humour, maybe too early in my day for me to try that I would hazard a guess that anybody riding up that section is there for the first time.

I stand to be corrected here (but the wife isnt around so I may just get away with having an opinion of my own ) at the top of Vasbyt you have three choices 1. Go right through the trees joining the top of Bluegum (the fun route). 2. Turn left and on to the jeep track (the dull route). 3. Go straight up (the "Im suicidal and determined to take somebody with me" route).

The colour coding on the proposed trail map any chance of a key to that? I'm guessing up only, down only and DH tracks?

Mid afternoon is my favourite time there, just so many less bodies around.And I am absolutely the last person that will ever be called a "morning person" which helps. On the theme of the rest of the thread I saw a couple I assume (from the terrified expression on the female halfs face) descending Vasbyt very slowly a couple of weeks back. No helmets...

The only problem with option two there is that at some point one of them might end up visiting the bushes tangled up with you.It is annoying though when you make way for someone and all you get is the 1000 yard stare.

Vasbyt is bi-directional, are you maybe thinking of the start of DH3?

Oddly I have had more close calls on Fairy Garden than on Vasbyt. Watch that statement go badly wrong for me now...

Riding up I'm always ready to stop (any excuse will do ) and try not to ruin anyones ride down. There are a few choke points that people need to be awake for, mainly on the bottom half, but if you are aware and scan far enough ahead you should be okay.

I see signs of life today with Bennet starting to get going on Vasbyt. Looks nice so far. Jeez mate check your facts first before giving out bad info.It's cakes not pies, everybody knows that. Whenever I want help all I do is call him and mention cake, works like a charm. I even have him bringing the coffee lol.
