this is from when they reopened the trails at level 3. wildebeest and zebra and bokkies all just chilling on the plains. I think they enjoyed lockdown. Also the usual ground squirrels and a blue crane on that ride. Will be sad to see it all go. *** photo because far away but still, i stopped and enjoyed the view for a good while.

I wouldn't be surprised. With the weather being good atm. I asked the fourways market people and their arguement was that there's hectares of land which is true but the people are all milling around standing in queues for food , not on the trails. It's still better than a mall but In personally still opting to avoid the trails over weekends.

I think it's the Fourways "market" with the food trucks that are drawing the crowds over the weekends.

was also there yesterday. lots of Kiewiets around defending their nests especially around the bottom bit of the cleared reeds. I just slow down and go around them, no issues.

I also tried to get one in June and they told me they would have demo stock soon and they'd let me know, they haven't yet.

Login seems wonky this morning. Keep saying I'm logged in when I try click do something says I can't I need to log in. Usual login link at the top is wonky. Was able to log in using the link on the error screen.

I concur with this statement. I don't think we're in danger of losing the reserve as a green space atm. The big Hub new york in Africa malarkey fortunately fell through but there is still going to be residential development around because sadly people keep making more of themselves. That said a few weeks back I left the bike at home and went for a walk around the reserve. It's still well maintained from that aspect, there were many foreign tourists around enjoying the walks. It was clean and the paths well marked and accessible. Anyone managing events and charging to ride a race while still allowing general public to ride the trails at the same time are IMO confused and have the poor planning around the whole thing. Without knowing why and who ultimately is in charge , the full value of the space is not well utilised but maybe for a greenspace that's boot such a bad thing. I look forward to seeing what happens going forth

A little Monday morning reminder not to be a dick (and to have a laugh)

I took someone there that's not been in a long time and he only rode the green route and he also said there were parts of the trail where you can only point in the general direction you think the trail is and pedal. We don't expect manicured lawns but on a green beginner friendly route the trails should be rideable. Sadly leaving maintenance of bike trails to an events company seems the wrong course to take.
