  1. its got nothing to do with bad luck... put some decent tires on - couple of grams extra, but at least finish the race. it is not the first time this has happened. he is good enough to ride with that "weight".
  2. My bad... as always: more fingers pointing back at yourself than to others. Edited. Still feels good.
  3. ... so I'll rant a bit. 1) "feelers" - If you want to sell it, then sell it. If you want to know how much, ask and you will get an answer. 2) "breaks" - Bikes have brakes. They occasionally break when you don't use your brakes properly, but then you probably wont sell it on the Hub. If you prefer writing in Afrikaans, please do so. It is a great language! 3) Bitching and moaning about our country. We live in an awesome place filled with awesome people. There are a couple of morons around, but moaning about them on the Hub is certainly not going to make them go away. It only spreads the negativity... and we don't need any more of that around. Thanks for listening - I feel better now...
  4. I converted Conti non-tubeless to tubeless and almost did not finish one of the stages of TransAlps because of it. It split / separated between the beading and sidewall... fortunately another competitor had a spare tyre

  7. maxxis ADvantage 2.25, non-tubeless, converted = awesome, cheap, strong and relatively light... 3 out of a possible 3!

  9. Grinded part of the head away to fit over pin of piston. Screwdriver to sharp and damages brittle pistons - lesson learnt the expensive way!
  10. I believe in the right tool for the job... Modified spanner to push brake pistons back Flatbar with sharp leading edge to push brakepads apart before replacing them Simple alu pipe with ring to hold stem/bar etc when servicing fork Rear derailer hanger straightner Headset press - used infrequently Multiple picks made of old spokes for variety of uses Wheel truing stand - made out of angle alu, pop-riveted together, for benchpress - works wonderfully!

    Rims Advice

ZTR for lightweight, Mavic 819 for strength Most NB is how well it is built...
  18. recently tried Maxxis ADvantage, front and rear, 2.3 and 2.1 respectively - non-tubeless converted - works wonderfully
  19. sounds as if you not inflating your tires enough. tubeless can also snakebite between the rim and a rock - typically just above the rim. i'd try salvaging it...
  20. it needs to be at least 20mm in diameter...
  21. pink lizard skin charger grips at w-squared...
  22. MoFo!!!!! That is a serious light! I love the fact that you have made it all by yourself. Well done. One day, when i'm big and have the time, i'll try emulate one of these babies.
  23. Drill it! You only live once! You could use older/cheaper post to try. Jeff at Greg Minnaar Cycles in PMB has a tool to insert a threaded rivet-like thing (like those used in the frame for the bottle cages) - maybe your LBS has one as well...
