  1. I have had one of these for 7 years now and the timekeeping accuracy is uncanny. The light charging battery is also impeccable. Read the "road" tests, rated as one of the top timepieces available. Looks good too!
  2. Went from Sram trigger to X0 grip and never looked back. Positive action and plenty control.
  3. I had the unfortunate occurrence of a massive urinary tract infection that moved thru the whole undercarriage and this also resulted in a narrowing of the tubes and damage to my bladder neck and an enlarged prostrate. (Sorry girls) This all happened straight after the K2C 2years ago. I had to eventually have surgery to repair everything, Dilation, prostrate surgery and bladder neck repair. Sounds gory but after 6 months I was back to normal? I researched the whole saddle issue and there was a lot of useful info on the web. The bottom line was that your body has a great deal of protection in this area and providing your saddle angle and set up is correct, it will not cause any problems. I believe you should fix the narrowing first and then address the saddle issue. I am riding with Fiziik Gobie on both MTB and road bikes with no discomfort. Surgery is probably your only option, but if it is just dilation it is not too bad. I won't go into detail how the surgeon gets access to this area. Good Luck!
  4. Any information on cost and availability of mechanical support at this years Wines to Wales?

    Rugby...

I have question marks around two players who have just not impressed in their recent outings. Willie Le Roux has been "hyped" into the team, his 3 tests have so far have been unimpressive, Pat Lambie is being left in the cold again and Meyer has overlooked inbred class. ( When will an offer from Europe finally tempt him?) How many international teams would not play a fit Bismarck? Adriaan Strauss epitomises Domkrag but fails in his most important role. Lineout throws!
  6. Now the Hubbers are making a difference! Lets support these.
  7. Anyone prepared to guess the current population of 26er's vs 29er's? I think that the 26er will be around still when none of us can ride anymore. For this reason there will remain a market for Maintenance and spares for many years to come. However, at a far more reasonable cost, though. Was talking to one of the wholesalers recently and they are clearing out their 26er stock. (Spares, tyres, tubes etc.)
  8. What is seriously concerning about Koeberg is that it is extremely popular with families and lone lady riders!
  9. You will be made welcome by the cycling fraternity anytime. We need more of you.
  10. Our rugby is as good as anything NZ and Aussies can put up but we ended up this year with the least talented teams competing for the playoffs. The Stormers and Sharks were decimated by injuries and both, at full complement on a good day would have wiped the field with both the Bulls and the Cheetahs. These were due, in most experts opinions, to playing too much rugby. I believe that the format should be reduced back to 12 teams with a straight everyone plays everyone once, and then progressing through to the playoffs. Unfortunately one of 2 SA teams would be at risk and history tells us they would be the Lions and the Cheetahs. But we all know the $ is the ultimate factor. If you had to be hammered week in week out by 120kg supermen would you also not extend your earning potential by popping off to Japan for a bit of easy fun. Its almost like choosing between the adventure and race events in mountain biking.
  11. The best early warning system is 2 Jack Russells that sleep in the house. The problem then is what to do when they go crazy. They fear nothing and will take on a threat even if they are in danger. Bull Terriers are better at attacking, as are Pit Bulls but they need the wake up call. I have had the Pleasure? at seeing what a threatened Bull does to an intruder trying to get away. The perp is crippled for life.
  12. Hi, were the tyres of choice of the Rabobank pro team that rode the Epic, we did their service backup, no problems at all. I used them as well, good all round performance.
  13. I had use of a Nespresso mini for about a year, fantastic quality and choice of flavours. However, about 6 months ago I was wandering thru Checkers of all places and they had a Sienna Caffelux pod machine on special at R999. Same pressure rating and its own range of pods, 5 different flavours. It also takes the Nespresso pods. As good as the Nespresso, good foam on the presentation. We have a separate frother plus minus R80 that completes the package. I only use filtered water as I believe this is the key. When I use instant the best in my opinion is Jacobs Kronung.
  14. Anything to add to Brogue? This proof of the PPA initiatives for young and disadvantaged riders speaks for itself. Some people should climb off their high horses.
  15. Try parking your bike next to the bed at night, the wife will probably go to or send you to the spare room, last thing you see at night, first thing you lay eyes on in the morning. ( Of course if you have to go at night watch out for the shins!)
  16. Point taken, but now that the playing fields are "Level" again lets hope that we can "Sit in front of the TV" and enjoy some real competitive tactical riding. If the Giro was indicative of what we may expect, great!
  17. Probably an "Overkilled" topic but when was the last really gripping TDF? Who recalls those team trials that were taken out because the frogs had no answer. Will we ever see a Lance vs Pantani type duel, or Ulrich for that matter. Last years was about as boring as tea with the queen!
  18. If membership of PPA includes CSA membership, does the membership number of 21000 include the 18000 PPA members?
  19. If one reads these then it is clear that precious little is spent on prize money and/or riders/members. By far the bulk is spent on salaries? and travelling?
  20. What is it about roadies that stops them from being friendly to fellow riders? I find MTB'ers will always smile or greet but roadies have some attitude, especially towards a set of straight bars and knobbly tires. I do both and on occasion I have stopped for some or other reason and most times MTB'ers offer help. With roadies it is head down and up yours most of the time.
  21. The "Unpaid" volunteers should ask who got the R300,000 paid to CSA by PPA for salaries???
  22. I find it difficult to believe that there are bike mechanics, LBS's, that don't do a pre-service check and let you know before just going ahead with expensive repairs/replacements. Find one that does, these are normally the small independents who value you coming back thru the door. There are some really great, skilled individuals out there who would play open cards with a potential lifetime customer.
  23. Something that I fail to understand are those cyclists who ride on the main West coast road and yet there is the fantastic cycle track that was built for us alongside the main road with no traffic! Is it a macho thing or some sort of a death wish. This main west coast road is a dragstrip of note and especially on sundays it is never policed. The Cape Town authorities have provided these cycle tracks and lanes for our safety, use them!
  24. As in most sports there are always some fuds who seem to gain a lot of pleasure being the ones in control. There is no respect or recognition for the backmarkers and weekend warriors who ride for the shear pleasure any more. Take, for instance how the backmarkers support teams are treated at the Epic. Stuffed onto camping areas without any decent facilities. There are many other examples and perhaps the days of organising social events without the UCI and CSA need to come back. Let the top licensed riders continue with their sponsored ways but the fortune spent by the lesser 90% of riders could be far better utilised for the riders themselves.
