  1. Two observations:

    1. If ozone was the difference between life and death, and the only viable treatment, why did he not appeal the TUE denial?
    2. Following on, competing during the same time as the request/denial of the TUE undermines the veracity of the life or death claim in the eyes of SAIDS and probably made him a target for extra testing and analysis.
  2. In breaking news on Friday, the Rand dropped to 14 year lows. Economists were initially baffled but then realised that thehubsa has changed name to bikehub paving the way for even bigger growth which will result in an even bigger decline in office productivity across the country.

Dawie Ruudt from Ekonomometrixie said that "The only way for the Rand to recover would be for the bikehub infection to spread globally dragging other economies down to our level".

  3. So curiosity got the better of me and I downloaded the document and read what seemed like the relevant sections.

The specific rule "No licence holder may participate in an event that has not been included on a national, continental or world calendar or that has not been recognised by a national federation, a continental confederation or the UCI."

Licence holder means a racing licence and what the UCI call a 'Cycling for All' licence. So everyone who is a member of CSA.

Event is not defined that I could see. They have a whole section on Races and the registration thereof but they only talk about races that have been approved or have applied to be approved. A race is only a race if included on a national or international calendar.

In terms of the specific words in that document, a CSA member could be sanctioned (in their opninion/intent) for participating in a charity fund raising event (possibly even if it was in a different sport.).

IMO, the document is ambiguous and very poorly written. A decent lawyer would pull that to pieces quite easily. (I am not a lawyer but do read a lot of legal docs).

  4. So Mike Horn has now exposed that the team was interfered with.

I have no big issue with them choosing the team they want. It is the CSA's team run by democratically elected officials under the CSA constitution.

But for Haroon Lorgat to publicly lie about it is not acceptable in any way, shape or form. As a supporter, I believe we have the right to know what we are watching.

CSA has been wracked by controversy for years, this just shows that the new guys are no better than the old guys.

  5. Ummm... a bike has two wheels...

Naming silliness aside, looks like a lot of fun to ride down your local beach promenade. Use on the road to commute, I don't think so.

I could see people renting these on Durban beachfront.

  6. So we start a new month without DSTV. Have turned it on and off multiple times in the past. Probably will put it back on for the TDF.

Mmm, what to do this evening.

  7. I was wondering the same thing.......

That is sure a pretty big mix of things.  Glen we all know from Contador and Chilliboy rugby dude......

The other stuff sounds like medicine.

So it is hard to take a judgemental note if you don't know what he took?

Anyone with decent knowledge on this that can speculate?  Was it deliberate or just a decent steak from blue-bull country?

Report says he waived his right to a hearing. If he had taken the stuff under doctor's prescription for a medical issue, I would imagine he would at least have a hearing to present mitigating circumstances in hope of a lesser sanction.

If any of the substances were subject to a TUE then they would be excluded from the finding.

The contents of the press release appear pretty damning.

  8. "The analytical report confirmed the presence of the Anabolic Agent, Clenbuterol as well as the Glucocorticosteroid, Prednisone and its metabolite Prednisolone"

That is no small amount of serious drugs which got there on purpose.

This is the sort of cheating that is deliberate and devious and deserves a life time ban from racing. By this I mean a racing licence. I have no problem with a banned doper returning to UNseeded funriding after a few years.

  9. QdK seemed to play some shots that were a little wild but fortunately he missed them completely. And he also played some rather good ones too.

Hopefully he can ride this right back into form.

  10. The wedding advert is atrocious. Makes you just feel sorry for the lady that she is married to a demeaning, unsupportive jerk. I can just see her handing him the divorce summons on the finishing line.

The guy swimming is growing on me. He is having a hypothetical conversation with his daughter about quitting. Wants to be an example to her.

I find the guy riding his tri bike with a Camelbak deeply offensive.
