  1. I have never seen AA batteries go 10 years without leaking their contents, so I would be a bit dubious of that claim. Still a couple of years on a set of batteries is a pretty good run.
  2. My wife used to get tons of free stuff from Wish, she just refunded anything that didnt arrive and used the credit to buy something else. Months later the original item would arrive and Wish would just tell her to keep it.
  3. I bought a 2nd hand Fenix 5x plus about 2 months ago, its an awesome watch but the battery life is not all that great. My previous was a Suunto Ambit 3 which lasted a lot longer on standby than the Fenix does. That might all be down to optical HR, stress trackers etc running the whole time, it needs to be recharged every 5 odd days when used as a watch only. I havent had a chance to do a 6+ hour event with it yet, but I recon if you disable optical HR and a bunch of the other functions then it should last for quite a while on a charge.
  4. You could probably insert a smaller piece of steel in the tubes and then weld them, if push comes to shove that is.
  5. Keyboard, mouse and screen on the left is for the MBP and the same on the right for my Windows laptop. Its a big desk and has 4 screens with a whole lot on them!
  6. Clearing out carbon build up from recirc valves?
  7. What amazes me is how small they look in pictures... these things are MASSIVE! My one must weigh a couple of kg's at least. The mouse and keyboard are for size reference and there aint nothing small about it!!
  8. Many years ago I had a bike stolen and it was recovered after 4 years of being missing. I got hold of the police as I still had the case number and the officer wanted me to press charges as the person I had recovered it from was in possesion of stolen goods. It was a long story and I honestly dont believe they stole it. In the end the person who had it offered to "make good" by getting the bike serviced and replacing anything that was worn etc. I get where you are coming from though, its not always a simple black and white situation.
  9. Looks a bit like someone is wearing plakkies on a bike with these. They would have to be SERIOUSLY awesome to overcome the amount of abuse you would receive from your mates for being seen in public looking like that!
  10. As some others have mentioned, the Jimny is already a bit tall and lopey, its going to make it even more so if you add more weight to the roof. Still it should be fine, its not like you are racing around corners in a Jimny as it is!
  11. Thanks for the feedback, never been a Ford fan myself but the Everest is really nice. Im picking mine up on Friday this week, very excited about that.
  12. That sounds like fun, have you guys moved out to the country?
  13. Bud I was driving to Queenstown two weeks ago and was wondering why the GPS wasnt showing it and the signs along the way didnt have the distance to go... then I realized its been renamed and is now Komani! Its a nightmare looking at Google maps because the names have all changed.
  14. Hopefully one of those cities wasnt PE, apparently PE is just a suburb of EL. I once had a courier that sent a parcel to the PE depot instead of EL ask me why I dont just pop around quick and fetch it from PE??
  15. I wonder what those eyes will look like when you see them again in court? I expect the expression will be different the next time. I really hope you got the registration and have reported this, hit and run is not something that can be left.
  16. I heard the same mixed reactions about the 2.2 in the Ford. It varies between "I did 350k km without issues and I hardly even serviced it" to "I have owned it for 6 months and its getting its 2nd engine replacement" It scared me until I started asking everyone I know who owns one, they seem fine in general. Honestly the things are everywhere if you look around while driving, you cant tell me they all just fall apart and give issues with that many being out there. My uncle has a Navara and loves it, Im not a fan of the styling but that is personal preference really. Isuzu are very utilitarian and basic, they are solid though mechanically. I would steer well clear of GWM after a mate of mine bought one new a few years ago. It spent more time being repaired than it did being driven.
  17. Yeah man, the issue is she doesnt like change at all. Add to that her parents are 2 minutes from our house, her sister is 5 minutes and my whole family is 10 minutes away. Im really unhappy in SA, living here is having a really negative effect on my mental wellbeing and negatively changing my personality. There are a number of other factors involved, but what I mostly want is safety. I want to be able to go and enjoy the outdoors without having to worry about who was harassing me to watch my car when I parked, who is watching for mugging opportunities etc. I dont do a lot of that stuff anymore because its simply too dangerous without having a group of people.
  18. Congratulations, Im sure you will be very happy I get so sad when I hear of people leaving for Aus/NZ, its all selfish though because I really want to go myself, my wife flatly refuses and the only way I would be leaving SA would be as a single man. At least I can live vicariously through the rest of you!
  19. I was looking at FJ's on autotrader yesterday to see how well they hold value and there was one from a dealership in Sandton that caught my eye. 2018 model with 18000km on the clock, as kitted out as was humanly possible. It had long throw jack's and axes bolted to ever available surface. Obviously a toy that was never actually used and is now being sold off, Im pretty sure the driver would fit in with your post
  20. I feel like Im really derailing here, but which Everest and how as it been? I have seen so many mixed responses on the 4x4 forum about them. Some love them and others say they just break constantly!
  21. Yeah look the petrol engines have been around for ages and really hold up well. I have heard a lot of the serious 4x4 guys that arent in Land Cruisers like the petrols for expeditions. FJ cruisers are flippen awesome, their fuel consumption and ability to see other cars from the drivers seat are not! I still want one though
  22. You should check out ChilliChump, he is local to you and makes some awesome sauses. Has a great youtube channel too. His sister is a good friend of mine.
  23. Yeah dont get the petrol one. I had a neighbor who had the 2.7 and a mate who had the 4.0 both were extremely sad about how expensive they were to run.
  24. I followed your advice and went with an official Ford extended warranty, the car had 1800km left before warranty expired so it could be renewed. I checked every possible option from the Toyota/Isuzu/etc and none of them came close to the stuff I was getting in the Everest ltd, so I went with that. Hopefully picking it up tomorrow.
  25. Sajid uses a HVLP system on Scott Brown carpentry. It looks like the prep is more painful but the actual painting is a lot quicker and easier. I can imagine it would be awesome for ceilings, those things are a pain to get a streak free finish.
