  1. Ah interesting, so there are mx bikes tearing things up and making a ton of noise. I would probably want to put spikes in if I owned the land too.

Why? Every sport needs a rockstar, he was that for MotoGP. Sure its time to retire now, but I dont think there is any reason to dislike him.
  3. You forget to have your morning coffee or something?
  4. I doubt anyone would go the the trouble of making those and placing them if they werent trying to keep people off their land.

Rossi is worth 100x his race results to any sponsor, no one has the love of fans more than he does. Still, its time for him to finally call it a day.
  6. Openserve is really good with backup power across their last mile nodes and backhaul's. We get loadshed in 3 hour blocks in East London, it often happens where they turn the power on again and it trips due to load. In those instances it can be anything up to 7 hours of no elec and Openserve fibre always stays up.
  7. Wifi will be dead simple, just get 2x Ubiquiti unifi's and you will never have wifi issues again. They look cool too
  8. https://www.woodoc.com/products/products/woodoc-colours Woodoc has a gel stain range in bright colours. Shou sugi ban with a nice blue on top looks amazing, you should check out some of the youtube vids on it.
  9. Has more money than 99% of South African's and buys the lowest end Spez he can find?!?
  10. Who would pay R3.5k for headphones with poor sound quality?
  11. Just blame us for the reluctance to lend out tools, the bikehub woodwork collective has spoken! But yeah, it sounds like it could be quite fun to watch them make a mess of things.
  12. I dont like the idea of sweating on a pair of headphones that costs that much. Heck I cant understand why they cost that much to begin with. Im currently looking through the various options but will most likely go for something less than R1k so that I dont have to be ridiculously careful with them all of the time.
  13. Last off topic detraction from me... Im well stoked to hear that, I hope things just keep getting better for you. Corporates are soul destroying, Im still working for one and I know all about it!
  14. Pennywise - Killing Time has always had a kicker effect on me, ever since those surf movies it was always used in as a kid. What really makes these races is the human factor and what it takes to get to that finish, its difficult for most people to even comprehend the type of darkness you need to beat in your mind to get there. You sir are a legend, well done on an incredible achievement.
  15. Hey bud, its nice to see you on here again, glad to hear you are ok. The new forum takes a little getting used to, but for now its still the same place as before.
  16. I have borrowed tools in the past that died when I was using them, it ended up costing me a replacement of some really old tool that I could have bought for myself. So personally I dont like to borrow tools. If its a low use/single use tool then I buy something from Adendorff, Im sure NZ has something similar. With regards to lending tools, I have always taken the approach of "I will come help" or "pop around and we will do it together" Fortunately that has always been enough and I havent had to to lend tools out without me being around to make sure they are looked after.
  17. Yeah for sure, I was at my mom's place yesterday putting up some bathroom fittings. I needed a few sized tile bits(which I had) to get the job done, I then started thinking about how hard those jobs used to be without the correct tools. I dont use all of them often, but I know they are there for when I do need them.
  18. The answer is always Danish Oil. In some countries it gets referred to as wiping varnish, but its always a oil based varnish blended with drying oils and solvents. If you want a natural finish then nothing beats it in my opinion.
  19. One-day... I have that problem with too many things, bigger 3 vessel craft brewing system(+_R50k) woodwork tools, metal lathe, gaming pc upgrades, fishing gear etc etc etc. Too many hobbies, not enough space for them or money to sink in. It seems with every hobby, it can get as expensive as you like if you really get into it.
  20. People in SA can be pretty disgusting like that. Agree on a price until it comes time to pay it and the job is done, now they suddenly want to negotiate for a lower price after its already at 30/60 days.
  21. I looked pretty hard at this before buying a floor standing drill press. The variable speed is great and its a nice accurate unit, I just wanted something a little bigger. Ideally the Nova Voyager would have been my choice, but at R36k for a drill press its a little steep!
  22. Mate, if someone from Sydney says its expensive, then its expensive af! But yeah there is a lot more to life than just basic costs of things.
  23. Surely they must have camera's at Bidon by now? Im sure I have heard of a few bikes being stolen from that parking lot.
  24. Yeah man, I fully agree, the first two topics can and probably should go. They are too polarizing by nature. Honestly I would be super sad about the woodwork thread if that went, I have made some good friends through those discussions.
  25. Im going to see how the changes affect things and if it starts to suck in here then I will leave. Sure, as Matt/Nick mentioned, there are other forums for off topic discussions, they are generally miserable places to be though. I guess everything has it's season and if this is the end of it for me on here then Im ok with that.
