  1. Agreed. FiT is the stuff that not only works but is also the best tasting energy drink around.
  2. WW ek is 'n Engelse de Kock and whilst my knowledge on "PaP" bikes is very limited but surely that tandem, if PaP after 3 years must have the K..K ridden out of it.
  3. Your mail is not very specific as to exactly when the chain drops so I am assuming from my experiences that it is happening when you are running out of gears on a climb as I experienced something similar.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> When I first went two up I ripped the rear derailleur off the frame because I was had no idea of where the chain was on the sprocket and also applied way too much pressure when trying to go from middle to granny blade. The Shimano Flightdeck is a essential tool that should be standard on all tandems as it besides having all the functions of a normal bike computer but it also tells you Cadence And shows you exactly which gear you are in. If this is the case then a big NB as mentioned in the last mail is that you should release pressure very slightly when changing from blades. Jean, maybe you should expand a bit more on exactly when and how the chain jumps as there could be many other possibilities like a stretched gear cable. Tandem cables (gear and brake) do stretch because of their lengths and pressures exerted so need to be fine tuned on a regular basis.
  4. There can be several reasons like.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> The timing chains? (chain that connects stoker and pilot) BB could be shot which creates an elliptical movement. The BB could be loose or thread is stripped. The axel of the back wheel is cracked or buckled and after 3 weeks of not running true is creating and elliptical movement. When changing gears especially from middle blade to granny the chain is not on the correct gear because you cannot see where you are on the cassette. The Shimano flight deck will solve this problem. You are not easing off between the change over from middle blade to granny. Jean, best to take load the bike up and see the boys from Cycle lab and if they cannot help, my recommendation is a toss up between the Ravo and Raleigh. My choice is the Ravo as I own one. have not had too problems and when I do have one, the suppliers are quick to fix and if Fatty can break it, well need I say more. WW, what?s your 5 cents?
  5. Not yet but did see this on PPA site - Please note that no prize money will be awarded in the female racing team category, nor the racing tandem category, due to insufficient entries having been received in these categories. However, there will be a special prize for the first all-female team to cross the finish line ? please be at the prizegiving!

  9. To me it sounds like you need a real change, dump the half bike, have some real fun, get a another life, go double up and enjoy life.
  10. and when is the next Fatty and Donkey challenge?
  11. I would hate to be a stoker with you spuitpoeping.
  12. No thanks - bound to get blown over by the Cape Doctor
  13. It is a wonderful experience - at the WCE we where about 7 tandems doing the thru and off thing. Was hard work but great.
  14. Sorry boet but if you are gonna race then you should take a serious look at what is on the market and add the weight factor in to the equation. An extra 3 - 5 kg on a frame can make a huge diff over 100km.
  15. Welcome to the Double the Fun Brigade and trust me you will enjoy it. The discomfort you are experiencing can be attributed to many things which includes your saddle, set up, pedal technique, fitness level, cycling knowledge but more than likely can be attributed to three things - set up, saddle and T.I.T.S. (Time In The Saddle). Set up - depending on where you stay but either go and see John at Willie Engelbrecht or Gary at Cycle Lab. Saddle - have it checked, get the best you can afford as besides your stoker but it is gonna be your friend for a long time. T.I.T.S. - The more you get, the easier it gets
