  1. Meh, cyclists! Some of the, pompous, responses make one really proud to be one.
  2. @HuckNorris "Am gearing up to start a few night rides on my mtb , so ordered lights from Nitecore. Super service and stunning product .!!" Would you mind posting a review of your new bright baby after a few rides? Specs look fantastic as does the device...Definetely on my radar!
  3. MTB shorts + baggies
  4. 100% with Traveler. If you can test ride a bike over a weekend rather than a mini parking lot run you'll be in the best position to make a decision. Opinion wise - the Scott. Have a 2013 entry level 650 Spark. The most important part of the bike has been problem free...that's the frame. Far off from the RC though.
  5. Second Rock N Roll Gold...and prep work (lube, tires, drive train etc.) at least the night before an event or casual ride.
  6. If you get easily disappointed by counting down the (potential) days for package arrival and man cry when package doesn't arrive then DHL all the way. If you are a non man crier then postal all the way.
  7. That looks damn cool. Looks like I'd need adult diapers to get through that. Not cool.
  8. The most important aspect of fuelling your body is that your brain uses a huge amount compared to the abundance of muscles used to power your body. Google it. Absolutely fascinating! "Is the Brain Fueled by Fat, Protein, or Carbs? The human brain consumes up to 20% of the energy used by the entire human body which is more than any other single organ. The brain represents only 2% of body weight yet it receives 15% of the cardiac output and 20% of the total body oxygen consumption."
  9. Yip. If you want an electronic bike go motocross. If you want to peddle use your bicycle...and your legs. Soon there will be "cars" ala Flintstones...an ecar.
  10. Scott Spark 950 - 12.8kg all kit; with me 92.8kg excluding my "kit" Ghost AMR 2995 - 12.5kg all kit; excluding fiancées weight here
  11. Don't have the new one but have the first one. Great device. Don't need to have your phone on you as the GPS and HRM are awesome. Easy to use functionality. Linking between STRAVA/MFFitness is seamless. The new Vivoactive HRM seems like a more rounded device that roles into one a fitness and basic smart device functionality. Check out the reviews of both devices on http://www.dcrainmaker.com the best blog site to get tech info!!!
  12. Case in point - Jenson USA - one item, from a number, was on back on order as no stock available. Mailed me to advise that no stock available at all and provided other options. Problem solved. Hell, Amazon even get it wrong...more regulalrly than one might think. Not about the f*up but rather how quickly the f*up is addressed and calm restored.
  13. Isn't lactose free milk easier to get hold of?
  14. I have 6 pairs that I use to ride with, surprise, and all the time outside of the office. No problems at all with "build quality"...even post cruise holiday involving ridiculous amounts of food and drink and an inch or two on the waste line. They are great pant!
  15. (Strapless) Simple UI. Effective and reliable measurements. Synching to TomTom app and STARVA is seamless. Well worth the buy - currently prices are dropping as gen 2 is about to hit the streets.
  16. The government is the reason why SA is in the international top 10...for, but not limited too, murder/rape rates, declining average life expectancy, number of road deaths and infant mortality rates to name just a few. Citizens cannot rely on government, for any intervention, on all fronts that are administered by these 'leaders'.
  17. Have a Fossil Blue in the cupboard probably about the same age. Scratched to hell with Wolverine type slashes. Still very cool!
  18. Great cause; need all the help they can get!
  19. Andre and his mobile setup are fantastic. Setup a time, he rocks up and sorts out the bikes. With the call out fee his rates will give any brick and mortar shops a run for their money. Just made use of his service to have a bike stripped, which was resprayed, and he then put it back together again and serviced another and replaced tubeless. Well, well worth it. Convenient and effective!
  20. Nukeproof and 5/10 are a perfect combination. Bite the bullet and buy the shoes now; you won't regret it. And you will really enjoy the bike. Some analogies going around, so let's add one - a bit like the perfect date ever (ever, ever) and ending up with a 'blank gun'.
  21. As a newbie 'weekend worrier' alot of time was spent researching and asking questions regarding 26/29 and full/hard tail. There are ALOT of differing opinions on these topics and there is n no right answer. After some weeks of bike store hoping I finally made a decision with which I'm very, very happy with. At the end of the day a 'virgin' bike rider has no where near the skill and fitness level of those that have been riding for a while. Regardless of what bike you get it is going to take a while to learn how to ride properly and not to kill yourself if your fitness is not where it could be. At the end of the day you want something reliable, with a solid frame, with some reliable mid range components that come together and gets you back onto it week in and week out. Starting to customise ones bike is for sure the next phase in the MTB evolutionary process. Trying different group sets, handle bar lengths, seats, tyres etc etc the list is endless is all part of the biking package. The beauty about this is that it's nothing like customising ones car with shiny rims, blue light shining from underneath and a sound system that's worth more than twice the actual car. (No offence intended). Having fun riding is what it's all about. .. besides I don't know of any regular MTB biker that has had just one bike. They may have their original one stored away but have at least one or a few more waiting for them to ride!
