  1. Well then I must make use of the Pedal upgrade option since I have two sets of EggBeaters. BTW my Eggbeater platform rubber shim held up well for over a year. I find that silicone o-rings last much longer. I hope EB's rubber platform shims are silicone or at least VITON (which is harder)
  2. The new XTR PD-M980 is a step backward with its titanium axle. The older PD-M970 was a much much better pedal. I currently use Eggbeaters and they've been reliable but the big platform of TIME ATAC is sorely missed
  3. I think you need to consider a few other aspects of pedals as well. Do you ride in mud often? Do you have any knee problems or injuries? What does you LBS stock and do they carry parts? These aspects are just as important as bling, weight and durability.
  4. Why don't you apply for the TUE and see where the process gets you.
  5. Its idiots like you who make the internet unpleasant.
  6. not practical? I think now you're just arguing for the sake of it. I used that exact methodology before I rode the AC in 2008 as I had Flu, and bronchitis in the months before the event and used a cortisone inhaler to control asthma. I filled all the details in on the medical form and kept the scripts. I never needed them but I read the rules and took the precautions I deemed necessary. Impractical?? *&^@%
  7. Check the chainring thickness as well as this could result in the rings either being too close together or too far apart. Both can result in misshifts. I found TA Specialities rings were the best generic replacements for Shimano OEM rings
  8. Now you're wanting black and white. Love arguing with yourself don't you. If is common practice in society to attach a weighting to a crime. A homeless mother stealing a loaf of bread to a feed a hungry child is not the same as a cash in transit van heist. One is a crime of necessity the other of greed. The concept of "reasonableness" comes into the equation. Doping is considered to be amongst the worst crimes in sport. Therefore sporing bodies are at liberty to attach a different set of incentives to discourage doping up to an including life time bans. As I have stated before, there are plenty of way for an amateur to declare what medication they have used 6 months prior to the event they intend participating in. Full disclosure never got anyone banned, yet you seem to suggest that it will. There are plenty of amateurs using EPO in the cycling fraternity and n all facets of sport. its a dirty dangerous practice and should be stamped out. High school kids being pumped with growth hormone so that they can bulk up for rugby results in kids not using being paralysed from the neck down... thats why there should be zero tolerance. If you have a case of mistaken use then you have the opportunity to present it but les face it, the real cheatshave used every excuse to the hilt and few arbitration committees are going to listen to you tell yourstory retroactively. Declare up front, and provide documentation including doctors scripts and you'll be standing on solid ground. Without you're rightfully F**ked because you were stupid. You know the rules, they're the same for everyone participating.
  9. It is speculated that the Renault MGU-H is utilising both ATEC and a turbine thats whats why I included it. Its for this reason, it's thought, that they have been having trouble getting the syncronisation between ICE and MGU's working properly, resulting in poor reliability, poor turbo scavenging, excess heat and all the other problems. Iwan said: "Slowly but surely the Renaults are dying on us... " really, 2nd, 9th and 10th and running in the points all day = dying on us?
  10. its not a grey area. If you're taking something for an ailment then report it. get a Doctors prescription or letter. I did this before the 2008 ACE and didn't have a problem. Part of teh condition of entry is a medical. You have plenty of time to declare everything including chronic medication or even stuff for sinusitis or even a common cold. There is no excuse to getting caught. Problem is SAFFA's have a K*K FU attitude so let these two twits burn. The rules are clear. If you're ignorant of the rules then where is the grey area? - likely lacking between the ears
  11. that would be double standards wouldn't it and then the Pro's would be able to contest their case in court that a amatuer gets off but they don't. Whether you're cheating your employer, sponsor, wife or best pal you're cheating.
  12. :Slaps forehead: I knew there was one more!
  13. via thermoelectric generators or via a turbine for the former see here: http://en.wikipedia....ctric_generator This is why the turbo's tend to run on after the engine is switched off. this allows the heat to be dissipated into the ATEG and charge the batteries. The batteries can then turn the electric motor to start the engine before the car leaves the pits. No more need for a starter.
  14. Lotus F1 Racing is owned by Genii Capital. It has nothing to do with the Renault factory. They are a customer team irrespective of their past ownership by Renault Nissan. The current factory team is Red Bull Racing. AS can be seen by the performance of Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Caterham, Renault is far from K8K. They may be behind their development programme due to self inflicted reasons I.e. not running the engine in a Mule like Mercedes and Ferrari did (the latter in a Ferrari La Ferrari). The Renault issues are now mostly software related and turbo related. Both or able to be developed through the season. The way Renault are working their turbo is very different to Ferrari or Mercedes and we will only see its true performance by the time the F1 races return to Europe.
  15. Er, Red Bull is the factory Renault team... and their issues are also related to getting the ICE and ERS switchover and battery charge to sync so that it allows a drivable car. They have really big problems with their electronics. Red Bull had a packaging issue that required a new heat shield and sink to be built hence they were stuffed for the better part of a month. All the new parts are fitted and boom they're in the race. I believe heir lack of pace thus far has been due to them still using the FP1,2&3 sessions as test sessions. Qualy showed their pace. Their true race pace is unknown,
  16. Nothing gets done because SA is a savage state. Human life is measured in GDP and contributes elpresidente's job creation figures. The more people die the more jobs are available
  17. As far as shoes goes, The best MTB shoes I have owned are the top of teh range Shimano MTB shoes. They last! and they're stiff. They take scufing very well. I don't have expereince of the newer shoes though as my SH-M221 and SH-M225 just don't seem to wear out.
  18. Ok Mods sawrry for the bad language... Ya in Stellenbosch. In Cape Town the main number plates to watch out for are CL = Stellenbosch CFR = KuilsRivier/Brackenfell CFM= Somerset West CY = Bellville/Durbanville (why do I drive so K*K? Come to Bellville and CY.) These okes should be issued a passport to be west of the R300 The owners of plates starting with those suffixes are the worst drivers you will find outside of GP. CA owners are not far behind though....
  19. I think the point is to focus the energy in the direction where a bigger impact is felt on society. prosecuting two cyclist for losing their tempers vs prosecuting poor driving that results in personal injury.... I think theres a heavy weighting toward one side here.
  20. You should have seen how many massage girls enroute the Argust were tweeeting and blogging while "massaging". Hence I''m glad didn't blog. I think the only way to effectively cure society from the ills of mobile phones is too make the cars into proper faraday cages. No signal, no blogging
  21. Nothing on the Heart Fm this morning either. Just goes to show, motorists get a better deal and poor driving wins. I think these MC2 guys are looking more like hero's amandla
  22. Actually they're not. One incident is an overreaction that many cyclists have every daybut don;t get cuaght on camera. The other is a situation that results in many cyclists either ending up in hospital or dying on roads in South Africa because our motorists have ******* clue as to the rules of the road. And believe me many of these ***** ride bicycles too
  23. One had severe head injuries and cranial trauma. In an induced coma. Does it sound familiar to a certain star Ex F1 drivers plight?
