  1. My opinion: Go with HG and get yourself a 12 speed Sunrace, Sunshine or whatever generic brand. Sales pitch to follow: I do have everything you need including chains and cassettes .
  2. I do yes, in fact I know where you can get two. I am just not sure what year it is though
  3. Correct yes, you can even mix oils as well if you wanted to . Some folks even use baby oil .
  4. I made a mistake earlier last week: I thought I was going to put a 650B Reba onto a Marlin and I then went ahead and built my Alex wheel with a thru axle hub only to discover that the fork is actually a 26er 😭. I even went ahead and got the fork serviced prior to making the discovery . And the Darwin award goes to? Anyway, I have a newly built 650B tubeless front wheel if you want to take it off my hands
  5. Does anyone here in Gauteng (close to PTA) have a functional 30.9 seat post? Nothing fancy just 30.9
  6. I can buy that that specific brand may cause some issues but definitely not all car wash shampoos. Just think about the queue of unhappy customers lining up at every single car wash in the country if that was the case. I have been using car shampoo on my own and other bikes for close to 10 years without any issues.
  7. Something that boggles my mind. What is your understanding of the term: "Full Carbon"? A bike is not "Full Carbon" if the frame alone is carbon. That only makes up around 55-65% of the whole bike. I'm not full blown Robocop just because I have a metal pin in my arm / leg or wherever 😁
  8. Here's my take on this bike, it is merely facts, nothing to do with the seller or their credibility: 1) I agree that the bike is specced well but, R59k for a 2018 model even though it's the feared big "S" IMO is a bit much. The fact that the ad has more than 1600 views means this bike has been listed multiple times and that I am not the only one who thinks it's somewhat pricey. To place this into perspective: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/12762/cannondale-scalpel - this ad has been listed since pre-covid 2) The crank arm looks like it was chewed by a rabid dog. 3) "Well maintained" is an opinion not fact. Give me information about the history of the drive train, fork and shock intervals. Those items are very expensive to service and replace. 4) I do not see good close up photos which makes me question the statement mentioned in point 3. If it was me and I planned to fork out that amount of cash I would get on a plane to George and view the item for myself. O, ya and I've taken the liberty of adding the link to the ad to run the views higher https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/626308/specialized-epic-s-works
  9. Is the ad on the hub or somewhere else? Don't you know folks in CT you'll be able to check it out for you
  10. It will work if the current hub is a normal HG (Hyper Glyde) if it is a screw on cluster then unfortunately it will not work. But other than that everything will be golden. The HG freebody will have enough space to go up to even 10 speed. 11 speed may be a stretch 😁
  11. I used to have a cadence sensor (wahoo) on my indoor trainer which is similar in the sense that it would measure one thing and that things battery (also CR2032) would last for months on end
  12. I can help, I am just quite ill at this moment so it won't be today
  13. I can help but I am not in CT. PS I am currently quite ill so it won't happen today
  14. These two points doesn't get the credit they deserve, I mean let's make it all about me for a second : I ride a dual (back issues) and I upgrade it every chance I get, I mean I recently acquired an XTR power meter, XTR 1x12 as well as XTR M9000 brakes. I have both Kashima front and rear with some decent Spank wheels, bar and stem. Ask me how many times I have been on my bike this year? I think it was only once thus far. Why? Yes there's lots of other reasons, bike jackings, don't like riding with others, mechanicals, the hassle of cleaning and maintaining the bike after each ride, I have a 13 month old etc etc etc. But, the truth of the matter is quite simple: why do I need to go outside with a fancy ass dual for 3-5 hours at a time if I can break myself on the indoor trainer for an hour at a time and have the exact same outcome without the mission that comes with riding outside . This mindset would've been different if I had a love affair with my bike. Then I would've been on it regardless of the excuses. Don't get me wrong, I do like my bike and I will ride it again in the future but for now I need to fall back into love with the riding experience
  15. It works without wires . But seriously: Does the sensor not work on the same principle as a inverter? Hear my logic, an inverter reads the demand and allocates a portion of the battery power to the required load but if the load is reduced i.e. the kettle has stopped boiling it then releases the allocated power and displays the actual value? Am I giving too much credit and or making the sensor smarter than it actually is .
  16. Yes @figjam_sa has bought a belt from them before
  17. You're more than welcome to have them, I will give them to you for R99.00 as they're less desirable
  18. My quote was referring to the 2nd hand market in particular, the moment a brand releases a new or refreshed logo the older logo becomes less desirable and sits longer before it sells. Just an observation based on historical information
  19. So now that we've resolved my bugg bear it is time for me to ask, I am looking for one of those blue dials on a rear shock where the cable fixes to (for remote lockout), those items are quite pricey. Strange thing happened to one of mine: the grub screw broke out of the dial and took a big chunk along with it. Most probably metal fatigue but alas, such is life
  20. So should it be may or might 😁. I am referring to the name of this thread
  21. This is really bugging me, should it not be "may" instead of "might"? Can the grammar police please stand up
