  1. Isn't it possible to get a small PV panel that just runs the pump? I've heard of such setups, I guess it depends on the type/ voltage of the pump
  2. Bugger. I was hoping two in series would be enough.
  3. Ours is identical to this one
  4. Our Geyserwise system, with two 450W panels, was installed today. One more step reducing our dependency on Eskom. They didn't put the panels where I would have preferred, so eventually when we plan a inverter/battery/panel system for the house, things might have to be moved a bit (or the installer can play PV Tetris...)
  5. Our garage batteries are one 24V 3.something-A for each door I'm wondering if I could change them to 2x12V7A lithiums, because the current ones do not last.
  6. Cycleworld is open
  7. Up to the viewpoint at The Heads
  8. Not sure how well this bike would work with Zwift or similar, when just riding around. It seems to have electronic resistance control, but not virtual gears? It could work well for workouts, but I'd definitely want to read a few trusted reviews
  9. I was pleasantly surprised with the Scicon 3.0 when I used it for the first time, for this year's Amashova. Already supported thru-axle, and nice and easy to pack. The handlebars did get turned down a bit on the return trip, but I guess any of these soft bags still have some risk. I just can't see a way to attach the derailleur protector when using thru-axles.
  10. Can't say, honestly. My PC at the trainer has a Nvidia 1060 which is more than powerful enough, but it also runs fine on a few tablets we have, and my dad's reasonably old laptop. So I have not seen it NOT work, or suddenly look terrible.
  11. Rouvy has added 3D effects rendered on top of the videos (riders, banners), and in their latest update (Omni mode) for a few courses you can even change the camera angle.

Agreed. Plus no Cecil Nurse or Marriot ads just as the attacks start or the sprint finish is close

Correct, for example the Tour de France, Paris Roubaix, everything shown live on Super Sport basically. Giro d'Italia didn't need a vpn
  14. R100 more for the cargo bibs, than what they were yesterday on Ciovita's own site.
  15. My Corsa shorts (not the 2.0) initially chafed me quite badly. Then one day instead of hand wash, they ended up in the machine (no fabric softener) and since then they've been much better. They are somewhat see-through by now, but I've had them since buying three pairs for black Friday 2017 😁 But I use shorts only on the indoor trainer, so not going to blind anyone.
  16. Well, the wheels I got were released early Oct, and are currently going for 33% off on CRC. https://road.cc/content/tech-news/2022-prime-wheel-range-296425 Still quite a bit of money, so I REALLY hope my first deep carbon wheels are good
  17. Set of wheels from ChainReactionCycles arrived this morning. Shipped on Sunday, so I'm very impressed with DHL Express!
  18. Seems there is no specific tether place like the head units have. One solution seems to be to use the little screw near the charging port, to hold down a tether loop: https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/varia-series/251261/rtl515-tether-loop But something like capediver's solution to stick on something would probably be the simplest.
  19. The new one with the camera probably has one, for the incident detection/save video feature, but the older ones probably not.
  20. Slight miscommunication at the Amashova expo meant I was doing the Ride Joburg for Cansa Active... except I wasn't going to the event. So I figured I'd do my own Ride GardenRoute instead
  21. The Magene uses the standard ANT+ protocol for this, so should work the same as the Garmin in terms of allowing the head unit (Garmin, Wahoo, any that support the specification) to beep. If I remember correctly from GPLama's video, the only thing that was odd with the Magene was that it would not flash again if another car entered the radar's range if the previous one had not left it yet. I'm not sure what my Garmin one does, to be honest. Plus this is something that can be changed with a software update. At the same price, I'd go with the Garmin. Whichever you choose, it really is an awesome tool.
  22. We've had our H2 for about 4 years now, and the H3 for about 2 years. I've replaced the belt on the H2 a few times, other than that they have both been absolutely solid. Bicycle Power's support is also very good. Not sure who the distributor is of the Tacx
  23. The one from RookieSports (which is also available on Takealot, https://www.takealot.com/fluir-handlebar-stem-riser/PLID59536000) worked fine on my wife's road bike. The gear and brake cables might need to be replaced with longer ones.

    Amashova 2022

The weather for tomorrow is looking good
  25. Yes, next to the casino. Last year it was in the parking area near this, Covid protocols and such.
