  1. Trans Baviaans, lekker tailwind but road(gravel) conditions were bad. Good to see TyronLab and his teams out there.
  2. 231 Team Tandemonium , 2 single bikes and a tandem ready to rock and roll for my 4th.
  3. Check Strava, apparently Long drop/Mountain Mania is already being ridden, maybe it's the trail builders though.
  4. Sorry for the hijack but do any of those 3/4 trails rent out decent bikes?
  5. Make sure you have a good light and enough battery/batteries. Hydrate, eat and keep moving forward and you'll be fine. Don't forget a warm jacket, it can get cold in the kloof.
  6. Wow so close, well done Mr Minnaar.
  7. Pictures of the new bike please, on the couch if possible.
  8. You'll have to check if 36 oval can fit your frame without touching the chain stays. As for the gearing only you can decide whether it suits your ability and/or riding terrain.
  9. They are comfy but more flexible than my Spez Power which cost R1400, Spez replaced mine with a new one when it developed a creak.
  10. I would love to do it again but the total cost is huge! I reckon I spent about R10k on flights ,hotel, bike transport and other things in prep for the event and a bit of spending money. But for sure "The best nine days on a bike."
  11. Skip both and save the money for a Joberg2C entry best of both worlds plus a bit more.
  12. My 520 used to sync almost instantly with my Samsung A3 without having to start Garmin connect. The Huawei P30 seems to be constantly monitoring power usage and gives me plenty alerts about Whattsapp using excessive power when updating. I must say despite this it's a great device.
  13. Got the P30 recently, also had syncing problems but found that Garmin connect must be open, then it syncs to Strava as well.
  14. As far as I know closed. I've seen hikers or trail runners at the Viper entrance but don't know of anyone riding there anymore.
  15. Spez Enduro 29er should fit your criteria, but not sure on your price bracket, have seen a few for sale.
  16. First one for me done and dusted(mudded also). Spectacular event in many ways. Good food/drinks with decent variety. Great single track with fantastic views, lots and lots of climbing. The whole tenting experience is a challenge on it's own. Snoring, f@rting and tent zips opening and closing disturbs your sleep every night/morning and then the alarm clocks and the central alarm of lions roaring/cocks crowing/dogs barking and Thunderstruck!!!
  17. Day 5 done, tough one, but fantastic from start to finish.
  18. Plenty muddy areas, but day 2 finished, loving the whole vibe.
  19. Excited beyond words for my 1st. Our bikes are in JoBerg already.
  20. Mine broke same place, Giant replaced within a week no questions asked.
  21. That bike will be a decent upgrade from your 26er. Consider checking the 2nd hand market. R12k will get you a pretty good 2nd hand bike.
