  1. Not a KTM, but it's a permanent fixture on my bike, never snagged on anything I ride. I've also used the XL tool bottles for long rides and sometimes a bottle just for refilling my main bottle.
  2. Also check your rim tape has not shifted or damaged.
  3. I have Phenom on roadie and Power on mtb. I see some other brands are starting to look very similar to the Power/Phenom design.
  4. What conditions can we expect for the weekend K2K? Been raining for 2 days in PE.
  5. Your 26er frame might allow 27.5 wheels which will help a bit.
  6. The coastal loop is fairly flat with nothing to steep up or down, there are other options closer to the clubhouse like a pump track and some proper XC racing loops but nothing technical really.
  7. I see you are on MTB, tomorrow 6;30 from Virgin Active Lorraine the TITS(time in the saddle) group ride to St. Albans Church for pancakes etc at the open air market. Gravel and tar non technical and flat route about 50km with beginners on all rides looked after and nobody gets left behind. You can also join from Kragga Kamma Checkers 6:45 for a bit shorter route. Both places have safe parking. Just pitch up in time and introduce yourself, you will enjoy the ride.
  8. Get a Garmin, but that's my opinion and my preference. There are quite a few GPS cycling devices threads on the Hub. Have a look at them.
  9. This is pretty much how i also do it. My 1st two GX Eagle setups got 9000km+ with a new chain at 2500 to 3000km. I don't degrease at all, just brush clean and lube with Squirt. My LBS advised me not to change the chain on my new GX drivetrain and to just ride it to the end and then replace it all together.
  10. Cairnbrogie Farm trails just outside Plett. Spectacular ocean views and some XC and flow trails with options to loop or explore. These trails link up to Harkerville but extra permit/s are needed for this.
  11. Can the trainer take a thru axle back wheel? Most basic trainers use quick release.
  12. That is a well traveled route with a few options but remember once you go into the Kloof you will need a support vehicle and riding partners. Quite a few places for overnighting on that route.
  13. Your budget should get you a really nice hardtail. Look at the frames geo and try get a bike with "modern geometry" with a slacker head angle and a dropper post. Post links to the bikes you are looking at if possible.
  14. Cairnbrogie farm trails are safe to ride solo but not enduro , more XC with some really fun sections and great views.
  15. You can replace just the RD if you want, you will only need to change hub/freebody if you want the cassette with 10t - 50/51/52
  16. Giant, 3 years with the same cage and still fine.
  17. If it fits your budget and body size, buy the bike and ride. Plenty peeps riding alu Sparks and loving them.
  18. I think you might find a new cassette and chain with the new chainring will work. I know it's not what you want to hear.
  19. Remember this is personal opinion. 1) I would not look at the older Spark like that 900 SL. If you can get a new shape 940/50 2) The one twenty is a great option, I would not look at the 96 3) Silverback Sido not bad but the above 120 would be much better. 4) Giant Anthem always a good option if it's the newer frame with the improved toptube/seattube weld area. Normally plenty to chose from. 5) Spez Camber or Stumpy but depends on model year and components. Try and get the newest year model with modern geometry. Your budget is enough to get a really nice bike. Be patient.
  20. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/414191/cannondale-scapel-si-carbon-2018 Classified has lots of options, apply the filters for your size, budget etc
  21. I have not ridden either of the 3 bikes. The Momsen and the Silverback have 120mm travel and trail geo whereas the Merida is an XC race bike 100mm travel and XC geo. I would go for either of the other 2 over the Merida.
