    Rapha Festive 500

465 down, nice little 35km MTB ride this afternoon and 2019 Rapha festive 500 is done and dusted.
  3. About 5300km on current GX cassette, second chain, it's still working fine but is quite worn according to the wear checking tools at the LBS.
  4. Action Cycles(Spez dealer) in PE replaced mine without problems.
  5. Did you test the real Spez Power though?
  6. Sportsmans Warehouse in PE have one called a Concept, also about R400.
  7. I have one on my HT and it's fine. Will have to see how long it lasts.
  8. My do it all bike. Some things change during the year, for TransB and the training I take the dropper off to add a bottle cage on the seatpost. 130mm fork travel and 105 rear.
  9. My first single speed made up from parts I had. Okay I had to buy the SS kit and the fork. This is my commuter now.
  10. 32X50 ratio is 0.64, if you compare a typical 2 x 10 with 24x36 = 0.66 so the 32x50 will have a slightly easier ratio. Hope that makes sense.
  11. Looking forward to this again, camping at the golf club after this great event is lekker. These guys know how to arrange a RIDE properly.
  12. Here's a curveball. Myself and partners were feeling quite overheated and tired at CP3. After walking/riding through langwater I felt quite refreshed and cooled down. I think the wet feet helped to cool the body in preparation for MAC.
  13. Just expect bad road conditions, then you're prepared for the worst, keep left at langwater.
  14. Kudos for doing that on a hardtail, I wouldn't.
  15. Trans Baviaans, lekker tailwind but road(gravel) conditions were bad. Good to see TyronLab and his teams out there.
  16. 231 Team Tandemonium , 2 single bikes and a tandem ready to rock and roll for my 4th.
  17. Make sure you have a good light and enough battery/batteries. Hydrate, eat and keep moving forward and you'll be fine. Don't forget a warm jacket, it can get cold in the kloof.
  18. Aaah ha that's the Rob I know.
  19. They are comfy but more flexible than my Spez Power which cost R1400, Spez replaced mine with a new one when it developed a creak.
  20. First one for me done and dusted(mudded also). Spectacular event in many ways. Good food/drinks with decent variety. Great single track with fantastic views, lots and lots of climbing. The whole tenting experience is a challenge on it's own. Snoring, f@rting and tent zips opening and closing disturbs your sleep every night/morning and then the alarm clocks and the central alarm of lions roaring/cocks crowing/dogs barking and Thunderstruck!!!
  21. Day 5 done, tough one, but fantastic from start to finish.
  22. Plenty muddy areas, but day 2 finished, loving the whole vibe.
  23. Excited beyond words for my 1st. Our bikes are in JoBerg already.
  24. I'm also riding an ASR but with 130mm up front, this bike is more than I'll ever need and I do marathons TB , TransElands and lots of singletrack, will be on the J2C later this month.
