    465 down, nice little 35km MTB ride this afternoon and 2019 Rapha festive 500 is done and dusted.

    About 5300km on current GX cassette, second chain, it's still working fine but is quite worn according to the wear checking tools at the LBS.

    Isn't the RC only 100mm travel? A proper XC race bike. The 940 is more of a trail bike I think.

    Sportsmans Warehouse in PE have one called a Concept, also about R400.

    I have one on my HT and it's fine. Will have to see how long it lasts.

    My do it all bike. Some things change during the year, for TransB and the training I take the dropper off to add a bottle cage on the seatpost. 130mm fork travel and 105 rear.

    Some PE peeps will recognize this road, it's Kragga Kamma, notorious for accidents involving cyclists, it's narrow with no shoulder and also has broken edges which people swerve around and it's quite bumpy. Please be careful out there.

    I see a couple for sale ranging from the 3 at R1500 to the 7 white at R3500, is the difference in model /years worth the extra cost for a first time owner of one of these devices /gadgets?

    That would be a perfect bike for some people but not so good for others, all depends what you want/need.

    My first single speed made up from parts I had. Okay I had to buy the SS kit and the fork. This is my commuter now.

    32X50 ratio is 0.64, if you compare a typical 2 x 10 with 24x36 = 0.66 so the 32x50 will have a slightly easier ratio. Hope that makes sense.

    I've run a XT 1x11 with oval ring from new, it's done 6000km+ and still works well. What clutch wear issues can one check for? What are the effects of a worn clutch?

    I like e-bikes but don't own one. Having their own category in races would be okay but I hear they have different amps/volts and chips so it might end up being a "pay to win" situation. Would be funny to watch.

    Here's a curveball. Myself and partners were feeling quite overheated and tired at CP3. After walking/riding through langwater I felt quite refreshed and cooled down. I think the wet feet helped to cool the body in preparation for MAC.

    Just expect bad road conditions, then you're prepared for the worst, keep left at langwater.

    Kudos for doing that on a hardtail, I wouldn't.
