  1. Had a quick ride with a few mates and some new people this morning before spending the rest of the day with the family.Rode up to good old Stettynkloofdam again.
  2. Hey Nick,if the 70km route consists of the 43km route we did plus another 30 odd kays its going to be really interesting. Sounds like they heard I got way fitter than 2 years ago and then adapted the route to still f@€k me up.[emoji23]
  3. Will be nice thanks dude.I was amazed by the place. We have some nice trails around here/home,but they mostly consist of slate bank(leiklip in afrikaans) jeeptrack and flatish singletrack and district roads. Those plantation roads and singletrack was a heavenly mountainbiking experience to me.
  4. I'm glad this has been posted so far in advance, now I can put in leave ahead of time to atend this race. Just one concern though,I see youve added a 70km route.I did the 43km 2years ago and nearly died. For what superhuman beïng did you ad this 70km option?
  5. Man-O-Man,sounds like theres heaps of fun still waiting for me.Will have to get my trail bike sorted and return.Do you know where I can find a map of the trail network so I can find the starying points of the different trails?
  6. Did a quick 30km ride after work today.I will have to start sticking to the roads soon as my rides are ending in the dark and fast rocky single track aint so much fun in the dark. I did however hit a top 10 spot on Strava on one of the supposed 'downhill segments' on our local trails in the dark.#nightrider
  7. Slightly bummed that I wont be able to make it again this year on account of work obligations.Caught a flu bug the week before the event last year. As I'll only be working halfday I might just come around after work for some poitjiekos and beer.
  8. I was in Jonkershoek on Saturday,as it was my first time and I had a limited time timeframe I just stuck to the basics.Asked a friendly local for directions and he pointed me towards the Waterfall trail wich I then followed all the way up to what I believed to be the start of Never Endind Story. What an awesome ride, not to technical, just fast flowing FUN! I passed two other trails on my way up,one of wich is name The Plumber........ Man do you need seriously big b@lls to go down there. You literally 'drop in' on that trail with about a 1.5m gap jump.[emoji32]
  9. Haha, this was a crazy idea, but respect to the dude.He used a mouthgard to help with some of the road vibration(rattling like a mother). And aparantly his arms took more of a beating than his legs.
  10. Was a long week as a supporter at the CapeEpic, but managed to get e few rides in. Took this pic of the race village at Saronsberg before going for a ride in Tulbagh on Tuesday.Rode with the bike to the second waterpoint on day 4 in Wellington along this breathtakingly beautifull road.Met some guys and a girl on Yeti's at the waterpoint and tagged along on some singletrack trails on the way back. And on Saterday morning had a chance to get away from Boschendal and payed a visit to Jonkershook. It was my first time on these trails, got a little lost, but some friendly locals pointed me in the right direction.I climbed up the Waterfall trail to where I found the top entrance to the Never Ending Story trail.Man was that the most fun I had with my pants on all week.
  11. Lekker bike and lekker ride man.[emoji106] Are you going to do the return ride aswell?
  12. I got on the bike again today after a 3week absence. My ride took me past the beautifull Breederiver.Took a little footpath that looked interesting and found this great little fishing spot. Was amazed by the behaviour and the amount of barbel in the water here.
  13. Looks nice and clean without the tensioner, hope that the chain doesnt stretch to soon and the magic disappears for you.On a different note, what are you doing in the middle of a playground while you should be on youre way to work?[emoji185]
  14. Effing H!These dirtjumpers scare the sh!t out of me.I feel like a newb after watching that.......[emoji26]
  15. Got a new-to-me fork and stem for my 26er yesterday.160mm travel is going to be lots of fun.
  16. Being off the bike with flu the past 2 weeks gave me time to do other things.Took my son for some bass spining in a local farm dam on Friday after work.
  17. Looking good, black on black is the new er.....black.[emoji106]
  18. Sorry to hear about the mugging.[emoji20] Hope you guys are okay otherwise.
  19. Congrats with the new bike dude!Very much jealousy here.[emoji106]
  20. I'm also a van of Ocean Eyewear, very good value for money, got a photocromic pair for cycling and a polarized pair for fishing. And they're more stylish than you would expect from 'a budget buy'.
  21. Looks like a step in the right direction for SRAM,finally the SRAM vans can have some propper brakes too.
  22. Didnt go riding today on account of a cold.Rather took my son fishing this morning and took him to his fovourite riding place,an old, rather flat, bmx track in the veld behind our suburb. Our two JR went with, you can see the slim one tailing my son on the bike, but the fat one would have none of this runnimg stuff today.
  23. Its heart warming to see the little ones enjoying our sport as much as we do.[emoji106]
  24. Finally managed make my single speed legit today.........as legit as a 'recycled 26er' can be.Fitted a 32T narrow/wide chainring in the front and a 16T single speed cog from Rapidé at the back. Also added a KCNC jockey wheel on the tensioner and have been adding red anodized bits everywhere over time.
  25. MSP,this gives new meaning to the phrase 'go big or go home!'Great stuff man.[emoji106]
