  1. This looks like a beautifull place to ride youre bike......unfortunatly the pollen will make me wish I never started cycling.
  2. As Kleinhans said always sad to hear of a succesfull team losing sponsorship, but as the saying goes "all good things must come to an end". Thanks to RECM for sponsoring a team that provided us with some excellent racing the past 4 years and all the best wishes for the team going forward. The amount of talent within the team should not see them sponsorless for long however.(me thinks)
  3. Thanks RMan,was wondering how soon YOU would reply(old faithfull to the rescue[emoji4] ).Thought it would work as the sidewall feels quite thick and strong to the touch. I think this 2.5" will be a great upgrade on grip from the 2.0" i've been running on the front. Not worried much about extra weight on my SS ,heavier = stronger legs. Looking forward to (in my mind) convidence inspiring grip.
  4. This morning I visited my LBS and saw an Maxxis Minion 26" tyre hanging on a shelf.I enquired about the tyre and ended up buying it at a very good price. This tyre doesnt have any of the 'tubeless' or 'ust' branding on it,it only says "2 ply casing with butyl insert" on the side.I would like to knowif I would be able to use this tyre as tubeless or do I have to use a tube?Keep in mind this would be on a XC single speed bike,so it wont be thrashed on any downhills.
  5. Went out for a lekker long one today, did part of it on some of the Gravel & Grape trails with the trailbuilder himself, thanks SlanghoekLouis, had a blast. After splitting up with the rest of the group I continued on to Stettyn dam, always a beautifull challenging ride.
  6. My Giant took me out today, from the top of the worldto the king of the jungle.
  7. I bet youre wife thinks you only have one bike........this is a very good strategy.[emoji4]
  8. Did a short ride with a mate this morning.Started of with a bit of climbing.Met another guy on the trails and he tagged along,he turned out to also be a hubber.A Giant,a Silverback,a Merida and a rockymountain....
  9. Welcome to the forum NoirBiker,if those are the views you enjoy you will be at home on a MTB.All the best with getting started and happy riding.
  10. As always a brilliant preview from Claudio.Nice slipery and tricky course. This is going to be an interesting race.
  11. I'm currently running a Barzo up front and a Mezcal at the rear on my XTC,the grip is really good on the Barzo and I have had no puncture issues in the 700km I've done on it,also fast rolling tyre, can only compare to Maxxis however as I have never ridden Schwalbe's.I will however be replacing the rear as the Mezcal is a bit on the soft side for my riding style.Think I'll go with a Sagauro next.
  12. About 5km from the end we did hit a snag. The sidewall on her tyre started tearing apart and she was scared to ride it with the tube exposed. We exchanged bikes and I did about 200m with her bike before the tube popped and I had to push.Somebody's getting tubeless done.
  13. It seems that the bug has actually bitten again for her as last night she asked if we could go riding again today. She did another 35km ride today, but only with about 200m ascent. We were getting a bit iretated with each other today, but luckely we just kept calm and peddled on.We rode around the Rawsonville and Slanghoek area again with a couple of friends.Had some nice and cool weather and fortunately very little wind.
  14. Did the 30km Wolseley MTB funride yesterday with the wife, was really frustrating at times as 'race pace' was slowed down to this.I am however stil proud of my wife, even though she had to push alot and I had to help push a bit and there were tears shed she managed to finish and overtake two other couples so as not to finish dead last.[emoji122]
  15. Thanks for all the info, stopped at this shop for a coke and also walked out with a jar of honey.
  16. I saw a few direction boards next to the road for cyclists and wondered what the trails beyond them were like.Where do you get the permits from?
  17. Took the 'kids' for a walk/ride tis afternoon. My son showing me how he "broke his ankle" when he took a tumble.Couldnt keep myself from laughing at this nonsense he came up with.[emoji23]
  18. I went for a ride with 2 mates this morning and decided to take the single speed to keep the pace down a bit.Later this afternoon I took the 'kids' for a walk/ride.
  19. Visited this area for the first time earlier this week fot work.Realy beautifull place, will definitly return someday to do some cycling.
  20. Did a 65km ride yesterday(no pics) and a 75km today, part of it with my wife and a couple of friends. We did some climbing. To what almost felt like the top of the world.
  21. Great stuff, awesome to have the little ones wanting to do what mom and dad does.My son also took to it like fish to water. Now you guys can start enjoying the trails together.[emoji106]
