  1. ONLY at the expense of some added weight!! But then, I myself can always loose 1kg??? Then all evens out again...?? )
  2. I read a pretty good review on the Spesialized captains, I think... anyone agree?
  3. And the big brother 2.4 Mountain King is ~800g!!! Quite heavy but bomb proof and you can have them on quite soft
  4. I'm sitting in exactly the same boat!! RR are quite light...but two things...(1) That fron tyre does not grip well on hardpack...so much so, thta I've lost a bit of my mojo going into corners! Previously I had Conti Mountain kings up front, and perhaps that thad taught me bad habits about cornering (just throw all in...you cannot slide out on those babies!!) (2) Tried to convert the RR to tubeless...successful on the back tyre...but damne me..the front one just does not want to seal up!! Weeks now and plenty of extra sealant (STANS + OKO + whatever else I could get my grubby paws on!) I have also found that with the tubeless...the reduced tyre pressure + thin side wall of the RR on the back...does not feel right...makes me quite nervous for impeding blowout!! I'm going back to my truster Mountain king + Race King combo...very soon (going to cost me a ~R1000 or so + added weight ...BUT the piece of mind and ride confort = all worth it!!)
  5. We must go for a ride sometime!
  6. Hmm...definately sounds like a rim issue... have them looked at... PS: are you perhaps selling off some of all those tyres you tried??
  7. Welcome!! Lourensford is #1 in terms of scenic / single track / tranquility & safety. However, you have to part of Basin MTB club to get access to farm rides. These I have found (I'm a club member) are quite restrictive i.t.o. they only ride on SAT AM (depart 6:00) SAT PM (14:30) and Sun AM (6:00)...you can oalso join rides as non-member @R30 or R40 a pop... Then there are the Schapenberg trails....starting at Ongegund (on way to Sir Lowry's Pass Village - access is less restricted and one can go ride some awesome trails pretty much whenever you like - membership is PPA affiliated and quite good value for money 8because it is NOT restricted to certain ride timese...you pitch up nad ride!!) good mix of single track and jeep ttrack... Of late - I've been exploring the Helderberg routes (these are both side of the R44 between S-west and Stellenbosch). Some areas are still being marked out as we speak...but this will also be unrestricted access if you are a member oof the Wannabee cycling club. These routes are more vineyard roads and little bit of single track. advantage of these are: your'e close to home and way off in the vineyards, away from busy roads!! Then there are Eden trails close to Stellenbosch - fre to ride as you like...pretty awesome single track / DH tack and much much more!! All for free - ride as you like.... Then there are The Bottealry Hills MTB trails - between Stellenboch & Kuilrivier side...also access restricted & payable an certain farms where you can access the route... I haven't even mentioned going over the Mountain into Grabouw / Elgin side....OAK Valley / Thandi trails / Groenlandberg area /Lebanon trails...all Wine2Whales territory!! You are really spoilt for choice...pitty our work always have to interfere with riding our bikes... I'm contemplating joining the Wannabee club - purely because their routes are so easily accessible anytime you wnat to...(R300 per year membbership give you access to a great bunch of riding buddies as well!!). But as for single track - nothing comes close to Lourensford!! There are litterally 100's of km's of track to ride...although not all of it single track..
  8. ??? Whaaat??? You mean to say all those 1000's of prayers by the faithfull Blue Bulls fans for a miracle cure did not work??? And he simply cleaned up??? Go figure...
  9. If that is the same single track the Burger passe thru....then it will be quite awesome!! especially at night...
  10. Ride a horse?? unless you look / smell like a horse yourself???
  11. how many LBS owners do you see driving Porche's?? There is your answer...
  12. eggxagetarry!! How does the agents then justify their excessive margins??
  13. Surely when we talk about import duties...or the lack thereof...it's the same for me as individual and for the distributor? Why would SARS treat me as individual 9importing a bike part) any different from the distributor importing that same part??? If the distributor stops ripping us a new each time...perhaps they can compete on equal footing with the likes of CRC??

    Superglue

    Listen to this man!! he knows waht he's talking about...Google is also your friend!! Think it is called cyanoacrelate(??)removal or something like that... sound waves = concept sounds good BUT I seriously doubt that headphones and ordinary music frequency will do the trick...try ultrasonic bath...that is also sound waves {but more like in the dog whistle range }

Bwhaaa...ha ha ha!! Steve H will remove just about anything...just go & see how quickly he can clear out a hall full of hard rock fans!!
  16. I'm still on the original formula...just add a wee bit of fruit juice or OROS...just to make it tase like something familiar. Great stuff IMHO...

  18. I probably drive past you most mornings....with ENVY in my eyes... I also used to commute...now I need to transport kids to school...
  19. AFAIK THE ROUTES ARE OPEN...BUT BELONG TO wANNABEE CLUB FOR MAINTENANCE... i'M VERY WILLING TO HELP OUT WITH TRAIL MAINTENANCE... Cool for a Hub-mini ride (i.e.whoever can join us....join us!!) c'mon let get it going...
  20. Hmm..I see now from Bergbok's pics thatte same arrows are used..so this trail could be / is pretty long in it's entirety!!
  21. Hey Slowness.... I took a ride on Sunday afternoon up to reservoir/waterworks...picked up a new "blue" marked route that basically rides on the Ct side of the waterworks...intersecting with a yellow marked route on the S-west side of the waterworks...this is FAR from the yellow route on the mountain side of R44...that you refer to... When are we going to "explore" some of these routes together?? Lemme know...I need some company!!
  22. Sorry - i haven't seen THAT before...usually, when that sweeper vehichle comes around...I pedal like white hot ****!!! Can't face being stone cold last... third last is sooo much better... )
  23. Guys...guys... All this "back marker EPO use" are mainly based on hearsay..."a mate of mine" and such drivel... where are some facts?? I'm naive enough to believe that Joe Ssoap in the middle & back of the race does not give a rat ass about EPO use... we need to get down to the facts...what percentage of peeps are we talking about?? 1% less than 1% ??
  24. Why not?? IF you KNOW the risks associated with it and still go on and use it...?? In my opinion - you then DESERVE what comming your way...it will certainly not be accidental...
  25. Icycling...i hear your aguement "for" the legit use og HGH.... but, as with so many other things....there will always be a willing buyer and unscrupolous seller... This "drug" industry is/ will be driven by the wrong demands...GREED. It will be big pharmaceutical companies that get rich...basically already happening in the sports supplement market place!
